Yeah, I certainly didn't see that coming; did you?

I'm awful at posting but help me ouy with this. With the Browns winning on Thursday do we move up in the draft from 6 to 5???

Unlike last season, when I rooted for them to lose in December, I’m rooting for them to win this season, as they no longer need a franchise QB. That said it won’t break my heart if they end up with a good pick, I just don’t see it as an imperative now. As it stands right now there is no Trent Williams or Joe Thomas in this draft, but there are a few tackles who could obviously help them, like Will Campbell, Kelvin Banks, and Aireontae Ersery, but none are lock top 5 picks, and they could probably trade back and still get one of them around 10-20. If they did this they could end up with 5-6 picks in the first 3 rounds, and still get a high quality LT prospect.

You are correct, and I have a page that tracks that on here that is updated after each day’s slate of games:

That’s located at the top under “NFL”, or on the slideout menu on the top left.

I'd still rather a good pick tbh. They really need a WR or OT and based on their recent track record, they kinda need it to be as fail proof as possible. If there isn't an absolute stud, trade down.

It's not going to break the team as much as winning extra games would have been last year, but this is still a rebuilding team that needs a talent infusion

I’m hoping they get the highest pick possible but if they find a way to win another game or two this year I will be happy for the players on this year’s team. My latest mantra for the Pats is that I simply want them to pick a guy who has the best chance to be a star performer as soon as possible next year, irrespective of position (other than QB).

If they are in the #5 position and Campbell’s arm length is a nonissue then based on my own - admittedly meager - perception of talent (but I do watch a lot of college football) I personally think he is in that conversation. They have so many needs!! Let’s put it this way: would you rather see them add Malik Nabers, Joe Alt, or Jared Verse? I’d personally prefer Alt but any of those three would have the potential to be game changers for the Pats. Obviously we have no idea if say McMillen or Hunter, Campbell or Banks, or Pearce or Graham are as good as the three guys from this year’s first round.

Last year was the only time I rooted to lose
First time as a Patriot fan (65 years)
We got the guy we needed.
Now it’s time to start having the winning mentality again regardless of draft position
This is not a strong draft class as has been noted
If we win a few more games then it means one thing. We are getting better and Maye is playing well
He and the team can use some success to continue into next year and maybe draw some attention from FA

Awful, huh? If I may... Advice on posting: Let 'em rip. Don't worry about push back. Expect it. Happens to everyone.

Except me, natch.

Unfortunately it’s not a great year at the top of the draft for OT or WR, as right now Teteroia MacMillan WR Arizona looks like the only sure fire top 5 pick at either position. ( Not including Travis Hunter, who could end up at either CB or WR, But the current take is that teams would most likely want him to play CB, with packages for him at WR. As it’s easier to use him that way than vice versa. But don’t tell the Patriots coaching staff he can play on offense as well as defense)

That said I could see the Patriots taking MacMillan in the top 5, and then using their 2nd and 3rd, and probably a pick in 26’ to move back into the top 15 for Ersery or Banks, which would address both needs. It should be easier to trade up this year because there are fewer must have picks, and a more needs based draft.

Ersery looked good against PSU. Tet and move up for him would be great.

We're gonna lose out and finish with 3 wins.
- the Giants will def lose out to finish 2-15, and probably get the #1 overall pick
- Jax looks like the #2 pick, even if they beat the Jets to get to 3 wins (weak sos)
- LV will probably beat Jax to finish 3-14 and get the #3 pick (weak sos)
- we should lose out and may get the 4th pick, but the Jets are a threat
- Jets could lose out, finish 3-14, and could move ahead of us due to sos, so let's hope they beat the Jags
- Cleveland should lose out to finish 3-14, but have a tough schedule so should stay below us due to sos, but are a threat
- Tenn, Carolina and Dallas should each get to 4 wins

So probably we pick between 4th and 6th.

I've updated the afternoon games, Patriots moved up to #4 overall today, pending the other games:

The Raiders are currently ahead of the Broncos, so that game could have an implication depending on how it ends. That one - I think - might bump them up to #3 overall if they upset Denver.

Our one winnable game is the Colts, the 1 team without a QB or offense. It is also at home. If we CAN get that loss then Cards, Bills and Chargers seem lopsided losses unless Bills in position to sit starters.
Patriots currently have the weakest SOS of all teams with 2-4 wins but Miami might mess that up as they keep winning.
4-6 is fine, can still get a starter on the line or at wr, lower than that gets sketchy.
Giants are picking a QB so does not affect us. LV is picking a QB.
Jags have easy schedule, Titans twice, Jets, Colts Raiders.
I think if we lose to Colts we end top 3. If we beat Colts we end up 4-8.

The Raiders ended up losing, so New England remains at #4.

Win?? win this Team after Today?? That like saying we are going to the Playoffs.

They lost 32-16 to Jags and then beat the Jets
Teams with poor offenses keep them in games, Colts have a poor offense
