Trade out of 4. And maximize the number of picks from 20-60. It’s a deep draft and that range the talent level does not have a significant drop off.

That’s what I heard Jim Nagy say, who’s run the Senior Bowl and was recently hired by Brent Venerables at Oklahoma to be its GM.

Sorry, I lost the link.

1. Travis Hunter - I would not trade out of 4 if he's there at 4 unless you get blown away by an offer which MUST include a future first and multiple top 100 picks. He's too perfect for what we need.

2. Abdul Carter - Same again although I'd accept a 2nd and a future first in a potential trade.

3. After those two I agree that a trade back is preferable although not a given. If we can't get the trade back, I'm looking at Membou, McMillan or Tyler Warren if we have to pick. I'm getting cold feet on Will Campbell at 4.

4. I like the idea of trading up from 38 to the Vikings, who only have 4 picks, for our LT whether it be Simmons or Conerly.

5. If we get Membou at 4, I think we should be all in on Jayden Higgins (see 4 above). In this scenario I see Membou switching to LT.

6. WR in round 3 if we haven't already drafted one. Otherwise I like round 3 for a speedy RB like Henderson or an edge rusher (Kennard, Stewart, Swinson or Que Robinson). Mason Taylor (if available) or Terrance Ferguson are also possibilities.

7. Just draft Kyle Williams any time after round 3. his value currently is just too good.

I think we'd all agree and be very happy if it came to fruition.

The hard part is, if its that obvious, everyone is going to feel the same. They want to go down, not up. The options to trade down may be limited and the value in return may be limited.

I played around with thr PFN mock simulator. I moved around multiple times. Ended up with Jeanty, Conerly, Nolan, Ersery, and Higgins in the 1st 2 rounds. I dont think it's realistic, though.

It's deep in positions that are not of great need for us though.

DL, TE and RB
I know what you mean, but I do think DT should be on the list of priorities after LT/WR. Maybe the next biggest. Maybe the staff is comfortable with Barmore's medicals, but even with him, depth isn't great up front. If we were able to acquire extra picks to give flexibility, I'd totally be on board with a DT in the top 50. As it stands now, it's the 1st spot I'd consider with the 3's if they gi WR/LT to start.

Thought experiment. If Travis Hunter slips to 4, could we go to the Chicago Bears and receive 10, 41, and 148? Probably.

At 10 we take LT Kelvin Banks.
At 41 we take X receiver Jayden Higgins.

Two positions in the most dire state fully covered.

I don’t think you can guarantee Higgins at 41. Why not just draft Hunter and then trade up for Conerly/Simmons or stick at 38 and get Ersery. I don’t think the drop off from Banks is that great. I just think Hunter is too good to pass on for that deal.

I do. Big drop off. Very, very few rookies will make it as starters at LT. Banks is one of the one or two.

In fact, Ersery will likely be moved to RT where he could thrive better.

I wouldn't disagree with the flexibility of any of this.

The problem with Banks is the size. He's considered to be too slender for the position which is why a lot of people consider him to be a guard until he adds weight.

With the exception of MacMillen I agree with all of this.

I'm probably lower on Banks than you are.

Why can't Eliot Wolf be like you?

I think with 1 or 2 LTs per draft the pipeline doesn't add up to give most teams a starting LT. Maybe you mean elite starters only?

On average it should be about 4 draftees per year who end up making 80+ starts at LT with varying degrees of efficacy. One of which is usually a late-round gem and the rest are picked in the first 2 rounds.

Yeah it's one thing to trade down in a draft simulator designed for you to have fun. Trade down twice from 4 and come away with untold riches. Fun!

It's another thing to deal with actual people whose self-interest does not align with trading up to pick 4.

you mean Roger won't allow us to hit the restart button?

Now that we got our WR offer Cleveland Joe Milton and 4 for the 2nd overall and select Abdul Carter!

That'd be fantastic.

But it has no chance at happening. We'd have to throw in #38 along with Milton for them to even consider that trade.

Nice Post: Kyle Williams may have worked his way in the Second now bottom of course. You have talked me into him I really like his game. Membou reminds me of Bruce Armstrong @ Offensive Tackle: I think he has the athletic ability to play left tackle.
