Well.. with the offensive line continuity more than anything is vital becuase you have to know how to handle blitz pick up, blocking schemes ect. At this point nothing else has worked. So keep them together for the next few games let them gel and I think they gave a chance to improve.
I know: you're right. I just don't think there's enough talent, period. They spent too much time trying to figure what group would be best, in part because it was a struggle to find anybody worthy of starting role, and in part because of injuries. I don't know whether the evaluation process was so protracted because the process was flawed or because in the end, there just weren't enough guys worthy of starting. I suspect it was the latter. The culprit, in my mind, is incompetent player acquisition and development over several years. The GM, the coordinator, the o-line coach all need scrutiny with an eye to replacing them if they cannot bear it. Aside from the GM, whom I regard as an obvious failure, I'm not sure what we have. Hopefully last night's game was some sort of anomaly. If not, heads will have to roll.

Sure thing - I feel like I should note that I think Maye does model his game after Rodgers to some extent (you can see how they play a similar game in several ways) so I am sure there is some amount of admiration from him towards Rodgers. Nothing wrong with that. I think we'd all be perfectly happy to have a dude on the level of Aaron Rodgers on the Patriots, minus the conspiracy theories, darkness retreats and toxic locker room drama.
Yes sir! And the anti- science theories LOL..ect.. yes if maye tuned out to be anything close to AR the actual QB then boy would we be elated. I personally really think maye is the guy.. I just sense it and see he doesn't get flustered he takes a hit and gets back up.. once the line settles if ever.. I can definitely envision him as a starter as some point especially later in the season.

So then a coach who would play Maye would be better.
And a coach who coached up the rest of the team around its weakness would be better, right?
A scheme that would overcome the weakness at qb? Play calling that exposes him less?

You are saying the entire organization gets a pass because brissett is the QB.
Then the coach shouldn’t have accepted him as the QB

The most disappointing thing about the game - we knew about the lack of talent on offense - was the lack of effort and concentration and toughness, even surprisingly of stamina and conditioning, particularly on defense. They played stupid, lazy at times, weirdly unmotivated. It seems to me that can only be regarded as a failure of coaching, whether on the part of the HC or the DC, I do not know. I am sure Mayo must be deeply disappointed in that aspect of the loss. He certainly should be.

This is sadly to be expected when ownership allows a small-school WR to run its defense.

Well don't worry.. sb1 and I had your back! Lol... yeah.. I'm at the point... just keep whoever lines up at O line together for the next few games, hope and pray and wish upon a star that they can actually block someone. Brissett missing hooper like was so obvious.. like seeing a girl on the strip in vegas..
The Straw that broke the Camels back we weren't going to win but that missed pass shows us how limited Brissett is. Rodgers would never miss a pass like that which is what separates the Greats from garbage. Brissett should not be Starting in this League the stars have to be aligned for him to get a win.

The O-Line dominates the talk on the team.
However ... we are #1 in yards allowed .... notably passing yards allowed ... heading into week 3.
Our smurf DB's are doing a hell of a job.

Doubt we get below 10th ... but let's keep talking only about the O-line, Jacoby and AVP.

Back to last night, I kind of shrugged it off.

First, Thursday Night games are almost always ****-shows.
Second, this was Rodgers' return to home field after the injury - I guarantee you that Saleh had this game circled since the spring. Break that Patriot hold, win big at home.
Third, the Jets have built a really good team, and other than Rodgers, their strength is their DL. This teams swarms to the ball. Most have been together for a long time. Veteran, tough group, going up against a patchwork OL that hasn't had the same five together for any length of time and had to start a couple of rookies.

I mean, did anyone think the game would be much different than it was? Brissett is a gamer, but he's not going to beat a team with his legs or his arm. The Jets had everyone right near the line all night long, with no respect at all to anything deep.

Credit where it's due. I think the Jets, if they stay healthy, win the division. They're better than Buffalo.

For the Pats this year, my hope is that by mid-season, they've sorted out the OL pieces and have them playing together for the last half. They need to see what they have and what they don't have. In the off-season, they need a LT and a WR (preferably through FA), and a center to stand behind Andrews (or maybe that's Strange, I don't know).

Yes we knew it would be tough due to player development. Last night was extra tough because our coaching was worse than the limited athleticism on the field. Now we have two things, coaching and player development, to be concerned about.
So Wolf might get GM of the year next year.

Yes brother.. even the commentators were saying how that was bad miss. I thought Brissett was supposed to be this great mentor for Drake.. I believe Drake is leaning what NOT to do if you ask me..

I agree with your optimism re Maye. It does seem to me though, as I read his expression and body language, that he might be pretty dismayed to find himself on such a lousy team. Perfectly understandable. He might also reflect on the inexcusably derelict and negligent manner in which his predecessor's career was tossed on the scrap heap. I would be. A quarterback's failure is not at all necessarily the QB's failure, nor - thinking perhaps of Purdy or Flacco or Dilfer - are their successes necessarily attributable to their merits.

I warned the board when I said this OL was worse than last season and got my annual resistance. This line is just like the one in 2000.

We need to retire "pressures" from our vocabulary. There were multiple examples of how a Pats defender almost got the QB, but it resulted in big play. Stat geeks have been gaslighting fans for years about this stat. Sacks are a guaranteed negative play and will always be superior to a "pressure". The Jets smothered the Pats OL all night.

Some ticky tack ref calls against the Pats last night.

The Jets didn't look that great last night against a really bad Pats team.

The broadcast talking about Rodgers was nauseating.

Javon Baker is the biggest loser in all of this. Where the fuk is he? All offseason he was talking **** of how good he is, yet he can't even beat out players on his team.

Gonzalez looked like he gave up in the 4th Quarter. Marcus Jones initially bailed him out from giving up a TD only to give up the TD on the next play.

It does not feels like the overall scheme is a problem on the sideline. The issue looked to me like the coaching staff was not adjust to what the Jets were doing. Looking at some of the replays again, and knowing that the OL could not handle pass rush, there were multiple opportunities where some reverse directions by the RBs or WR/TE end-arounds would find space left open by the aggressive all-out blitzes.

You can see on the replays where the Jets weren't even trying to disguise five-man rushes.

So far looks like both of us were right predicting some regression from Gonzalez this season. Up to him to change that.

For all you guys getting very upset about Maye saying he was "waiting for the goat" in regards to Rodgers...

Please be aware that this is common Gen Z slang. The "goat" term has essentially been diluted down to simply mean "great" or "one of the best". Kids in his age bracket will say many different people/things are "the goat" or that something very good "is goated". It doesn't mean what you think it means, to them.

If you were to sit Drake down and actually ask him "What NFL quarterback is the Greatest Of All Time", I don't think he would answer with Aaron Rodgers.

Then why did he say it, or is he just too much of a clueless ****ing ignoramus to control the words coming out of his mouth?

Yawn.

It wasn't a press conference, it was just something he said innocuously to someone. I'm sure he didn't have reason to think it'd get reported on. There isn't even any proof he said it, it's not on video anywhere.

Its basically amateur hour at Foxboro with Wolfe, Mayo, Covington and AVP.

This is what Kraft wanted and this is what we got

One thing I'll note about Maye's performance is that, although the Patriots were able to mount a nice drive, it was all due for going for it on fourth down on every series. Not sustainable except in garbage time.
