The Pats have a QB who is slow and does not identify OL blocking assignments. The NE QB does not check out of a play that has no hope of working. The NE QB just runs what has been called hoping for the best. Maybe something will open up because the NE QB has no clue where to throw presnap. Forget all that looking for matchups nonsense. Just forge ahead like a Caveman QB.

We can blame the OL and blame the WRs and blame the OC just like in the days of Bledsoe.

The next person to be fired will be AVP.
I don't think we know how much latitude Brissette has at the line of scrimmage, but the Jets were doing very little to disguise that they were coming on pretty every much play where the Patriots had more than five yards to go. AVP should have been quick slants and screens - or at least encourage Brissette to check out of the down field stuff when they showed blitz.

Maybe you're right that Brissette cannot get the ball out fast enough, or that he's a career backup because he doesn't see what the defense is going to do. Maye can certainly get the ball out fast. The question is whether Maye understands what he is seeing at the line. In college, it was always pretty clear where the defensive weaknesses were from tape. Not so at this level. They're all very good to excellent.

The patriots have the size and skilled players to runs lots of blitz busting quick passing plays. Hooper impressed me last night and at 6'4" - 260 he is a load for even the linebackers to deal with. We know Henry is solid receiver. Having them block against a blitz is a waste unless RS is rolling like the first two games.

It's frustrating. But we knew this was going to be a tough year.

Not much was out there. That's the point. Good OL don't get to FA and good tackles never do
There's always better options than bad players. There were better options than the three stiffs they signed and relying on Lowe.

Joe Thuney went to the Chiefs... good lineman hit free agency quite often.

The trick is to be competent at finding good value. That's what Wolf thought he was doing, he was wrong.

Jordan's not good either, he's just a guy. The should move Onwernu back inside, get Sow back healthy. The interior at least would be solid.

Play Caeden Wallace, Demontrey Jacobs and Zachary Thomas at tackle... not that they are good, but they're the best of a bad bunch.
So, you think that Thomas and Jacobs are better than Lowe at this point?

I disagree.

Perhaps, you were speaking until Lowe is healthy. In that case, I agree.

Don't laugh at me.. but if they can just leave the line up they had last night in for say the next 3 to 4 games I the line play will get better.
Uhhh. Well, that would certainly elevate our draft position for next year. Perhaps they should let well-oiled volunteers from the stands take a whack at playing tackle. I would be willing to have a go. I'll just want to have my cardiologist on speed dial.

We should have a stickie that states the Wozzy hated the signing of Okorafor. We can then point to that when needed when we long to have picked the non-existing great players in the last off-season.

The playbook is limited right now. So what we put on film is how teams will attack us. Yes Brissett plays a part. We know the line gives him no chance. But we have to also remember this is a QB who backed up Howell last season.

I still have faith in the defense but lowered my expectations.. I still think we are a tough, well coached team even after last night.

I don't know, I just know Lowe sucks donkey balls and Jacobs looked pretty good in preseason.

Pray for this, it's the best case scenario...

LT – Demontrey Jacobs,
LG – Sidy Sow, Cole Strange, Michael Jordan,
C – David Andrews, Nick Leverett,
RG – Michael Onwenu, Layden Robinson,
RT – Caedan Wallace, Zachary Thomas,

Trade Vederian Lowe for some sweaty gym socks...

Well.. with the offensive line continuity more than anything is vital becuase you have to know how to handle blitz pick up, blocking schemes ect. At this point nothing else has worked. So keep them together for the next few games let them gel and I think they gave a chance to improve.

Williams or baktiari interest you at all?

For all you guys getting very upset about Maye saying he was "waiting for the goat" in regards to Rodgers...

Please be aware that this is common Gen Z slang. The "goat" term has essentially been diluted down to simply mean "great" or "one of the best". Kids in his age bracket will say many different people/things are "the goat" or that something very good "is goated". It doesn't mean what you think it means, to them.

If you were to sit Drake down and actually ask him "What NFL quarterback is the Greatest Of All Time", I don't think he would answer with Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah our OL sucks but so does Brissett anybody who comes to Brissett's defense needs brain surgery. We need Sow and Strange back our Rookie Linemen are not ready for prime time.

Where you been? LOL I been wondering why you haven't chimed in...

Great explanation ross!! Excellent break for the forum.

Check the pressures and sacks allowed. Jordan isn't the problem. He was only added this year after Sow was injured. He is an OK backup OG and emergency #3 C…

Not only is MJ not the problem, he was their BEST OLman last night. He was also signed -by Bill - to a Futures contract at the end of 2023, so technically not by the current regime.

I was out for a bit Buddy.
Well don't worry.. sb1 and I had your back! Lol... yeah.. I'm at the point... just keep whoever lines up at O line together for the next few games, hope and pray and wish upon a star that they can actually block someone. Brissett missing hooper like was so obvious.. like seeing a girl on the strip in vegas..

Sure thing - I feel like I should note that I think Maye does model his game after Rodgers to some extent (you can see how they play a similar game in several ways) so I am sure there is some amount of admiration from him towards Rodgers. Nothing wrong with that. I think we'd all be perfectly happy to have a dude on the level of Aaron Rodgers on the Patriots, minus the conspiracy theories, darkness retreats and toxic locker room drama.

I don't thnk that will matter. They have a plan and they are going to stick to it. I don't think they'll jettison AVP and put Maye on the Mac Jones multiple OCs plan. The line is a mess and that needs to be fixed, but that's the OL coach and the GM. Now, if they don't fix it next off season, then I think Wolf will be on thin ice. now, I just don't see it, no matter how bad of a start they get off to.

Further, even under Bill with Brady here, they had some real clunker of games. They played well vs Cincy and well enough to win vs Seattle. I am not saying they are going to make a run, but I expect better effort than this going forward.
I suppose if the opponent can't pass either then the Pats have a chance. I just pray that no NE WR goes off the rails after never seeing the ball in a real game where it counts.

It's frustrating. But we knew this was going to be a tough year.
Yes we knew it would be tough due to player development. Last night was extra tough because our coaching was worse than the limited athleticism on the field. Now we have two things, coaching and player development, to be concerned about.
