Lowe, Sow, and Strange all out.
2 rookies playing.
Onwenu playing out of position.

I'm not saying I expect the O-line to be even average when it's like that, but your take is ridiculous.
Agreed. I don't think anyone can deny the line has been a problem for a while. I don't think it's going to improve. The guys out there are just going to have to hold up seemingly.

That was bills personality as well. Growing up in a military home as Bill said himself had him adopt that mentality in sports.
I don't think so. I think Bill watched Marchibroda and Parcells and paid attention to what they went through. And it's born out in the TV stuff he's done since with how personable he is.

He treated the media like the enemy. Because they are. They aren't there to do you any favors. They're there to get info out of you that can be used by the other team or to trip you up.

I think that a Line of LT, Sow, Andrews, Onwenu and Wallace with Lowe or someone else would be a major step up from what we've seen to this point. They've not been able to establish any continuity.

Not sure I have the heart to read a lot about this game, but my high level thoughts:

1) Not sure Maye starts against SF, but with the extra time maybe they can increase his workload with the plan to start him against Miami.

2) Too many injuries/losses on defense for them to compete against good QBs. Not enough pressure without blitzing, and smart guys will carve that up.

3) Stevenson's fumbles are legitimate problem now. One in each game needs a response.

4) I'm amazed that Kirk Herbstreit could speak so clearly with his tongue up Rodgers' ******* for three hours.

I watched Bills interview a few years ago he did at his favorite restaurant in Baltimore. He said in his own words that his dad being an assistant coach for navy and his mother a school teacher he always went through life with that structure and indoctrinated it into his coaching strategy. Bill started to treat the media like that as time wore on he wasn't like that in the earlier days.

I've said that personally about continuity.. as the offensive line is the only unit in football that doesn't sub in or out substitutions like other units on a team.

It's amazing how much better Robert Saleh is this year compared to last.

Aaron Rodgers is just plain weird.

I don't believe that any harm comes to rookie QBs who start right away. Those who have failed were bad and those who survived were good. The same goes for QBs who wait. Either they have it or they don't.

I don't remember seeing a RB called for a facemask penalty and I've seen a lot of RBs do it.

I never thought that I'd see the day that the NYFL refs would be calling penalties for perfectly legal hits that were considered too hard.

Why are NYFL refs still part-time employees? It can't be money. Could it?

The Pats missed a lot more tackles than usual.

This team's offensive cupboard was as bare as any team's ever was and we've been seeing that play out for the last few years. It's going to take time to fill all the holes. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Strange has been hurt since last year, so the front office knew he wasn't playing this year.

Sow was a rookie and not a very good one. Lowe doesn't belong in the NFL. Onwenu robbed the Pats with that contract. He is a decent guard, awful tackle. Look at what the JEts did, they went out and signed three new lineman and whoala, fixed their o line problems.

This off season was criminal! Andrews is still a NFL center, but his replacement should have already been drafted.
Clearly the Pats should have taken the Giants trade, or taken Alt at #3. I don't think Maye is that good, but we will never know because he will not survive behind that line. The moves should have been draft some high end talent and load up on quality offensive lineman.

Now the team is toast, and they will have to do that in the off season, so wasting another year. I would rather see them play Milton, at least put someone with real talent on the field!

The Offensive Line is so offensive, they should just punt when they get the ball.
Fkn disgrace, just punt so noone gets hurt.
I've never seen anything like that.
Thanks Elliott you fkn clown.

I'll ask you the same thing.
How is Wolf supposed to see in March that Lowe and Sow would be injured and that Okorafors would step away?

They took a nearly hardline approach in terms of NOT bringing in anyone over 30. The only person 30 or older that got a contract was Godchaux. If you look at the contract extensions the team signed, once the player hits 30, the contract makes it easy to cut the player.

I don't know that I agree with the stance, but that's what it is.

Onwenu was the 2nd best OT/OL available and the Pats re-signed him.
Trent Brown shot his way out of New England. He's back to playing RT in Cleveland. And he got a 1yr deal. He didn't get what he thought he was going to get.

There wasn't a helluva lot out there for TACKLES You had Tyron Smith (34 - who is injured already) and Bakhtiari (32).

I've already said that I didn't want Maye. I wanted a trade down with Minny for the 2picks and player. The Pats could have had their QB, bookend tackles and their WR. Instead, well.

In the immortal words of Chancellor Gorkon of the Klingon Empire:

Until they get the line fixed, this is what we, or at least I, can expect. Offensively, anyway. What really bothered me was the Jets ripping off 6-10 yards a whack with chunk plays. They aren't going to beat anyone in the NFL if they can't fix that.

It doesn't get any better with San Fran next up.

We're seeing WHY Bill was tight lipped for all that time. The less you say, the less that can be used against you.
What do you mean? Who's going to use Mayo's words against him and how? I see plenty of successful HCs who have a personality.

Tight-lipped Bill helped lead this team steadily down the ****ter the last few years, to the point that we now have a completely anemic offense.

Are the wagons circling around AVP yet or are we chalking it up to the o-line - in which case is it the new staff OR is it not the staff at all and did Eliot and Co. totally drop the ball not drafting a Tackle OR...was there no real talent available , so did he do the best he could....

My God, we suck don't we? What's for breakfast you ask?

LFG PATS!

Whomever made the call to take MAYE instead of getting picks and cementing the O-line is where the 1st issue occurred. I think Kraft made it, but I have zero proof.

I thought that it wasn't a great idea to cut Anderson. Not sticking Wallace at LT and teaching him that from day 1 would be another issue.

They DID draft a Tackle with the thought that he could play LT since he was LT2 at Penn State. That's right. Had Fashanu gotten injuryed, Wallace was the next man up. He took snaps there every practice. He also spent time practicing at GUARD and at CENTER while at Penn State.

While I questioned the drafting of Robinson at the time, he seems to be a very solid addition.

When the opponent is rushing five or six on almost every down, the O-line is outnumbered in the gaps. The line has to be better than this and they need to run screens and passes to the flat to their biggest backs and TEs. I would have given them a steady diet of Hooper and Henry right at Sauce Gardner's side all night.

But geez, how can the offensive line be this bad? These kids all played at big schools and should be able to a better job buying a couple of seconds for the QB. There were plays where three DLs converged on Brissette.
The Pats have a QB who is slow and does not identify OL blocking assignments. The NE QB does not check out of a play that has no hope of working. The NE QB just runs what has been called hoping for the best. Maybe something will open up because the NE QB has no clue where to throw presnap. Forget all that looking for matchups nonsense. Just forge ahead like a Caveman QB.

We can blame the OL and blame the WRs and blame the OC just like in the days of Bledsoe.

The next person to be fired will be AVP.

I'm not a big fan of Rodgers to begin with. I think he's highly overrated. But the ass-kissing is what bugs me the most and why I don't listen. I did notice that Rodgers was being shown constantly on the sideline though.

Tight-lipped Bill helped lead this team steadily down the ****ter the last few years, to the point that we now have a completely anemic offense.

We've already seen the Boston Media running Mayo in circles. He's more worried about looking good with them than looking good on the field. The fact that you think that Bill's success or lack there of over the last 3 years was because of his relationship with the media shows that you don't understand things.

There are a variety of reasons things went south for Bill. The MEDIA relation was NOT one of them. Not in the least.

Brissett is here to mentor Maye. That's it. They aren't going to fire AVP because the OL sucks and Maye isn't ready.
