Yep; anyone who agrees with going for 2 points at that time is, like the current HC of the NEP, a ****ing idiot.
If you actually think it through it was the right decision. Go ahead and explain why you think it isn’t.

Correct, you kick the extra point, then it's a one score game and forces Jax to play for a FG at least etc etc. Now the way they were moving the ball it might not have mattered but still..it’s the right call.
But it isn’t a one score game because you aren’t making the 2 point conversion.

Is the defense the problem? Or a symptom of the real problem, poor coaching?
100% poor coaching!

At the very least Covington should get fired ! If Mayo doesn’t want to get fired after year 1 he should take over the defense full time!

You can't make this up a scrub now calling out Teammates.

We wouldn't even be talking about that play: IF Anvil hands or is it lead foot Polk caught the football.

I’m disgusted by Polk.
He needs to figure his issues out asap or he going to be out of this league soon.
This is where the coaching can help him...scheme a couple easy catches - smoke routes...quick outs...rub routes...etc. Short catches to increase his confidence as this is 100% what this is - he's in his own head overthinking everything.

At this point I think Polk could be alone on the field with Maye and he would still drop the ball

When you can get the QB you have to. Fields isn’t the answer and is either gone after a year or you are paying him 30 mill to not be the guy.

We don’t NEED to start him, starting him is what is best for him.

He played fine today and is showing every indication he can be the franchise qb we were looking for at #3.

I dint really huge a crap about how you think people rated him. Why would we waste time discussing something people were wrong about?
Like I said if you watched jones play and have watched Mayr play and don’t see a difference you don’t know what you are looking at. It’s blatantly obvious to those that do.

I’m not sure where you see “desperation” in “hyping” but it seems to be clouding your vision. An objective analysis of Maye in his first 2 NFL games is 100% encouraging about where he is so far and where he can go.
Alright mate, whatever you say.

Your objective analysis is fair but that’s not what I’m seeing generally so cba to go any further in the discussion.

We’ll revisit this at some point I’m sure.

That was just amazingly bad, wasn't it? I had thought that in time the defense would adapt to Covington's approach, to his manner of coaching or to whatever changes he might make in the schemes. I no longer think that is the case. Even with generous allowance for the injuries, the defense is, well, indefensibly awful: sloppy in meeting individual responsibilities, indifferent as to the fundamentals, incapable of in-game adjustments, *****ing about one another, seemingly ill-conditioned, only intermittently committed to their work. ALL of this is attributable to coaching.

I would attribute the failures of the offense first to the dismal quality of the roster, making Wolfe the top culprit for that unit. To my eye, given his failings under both Belichick and Mayo, Wolfe's performance has been so dismal that he should be let go immediately. We need - yet again, for f's sake - to start over rebuilding the roster. Step one is getting rid of this preening nepo punk. As for Van Pelt, he obviously lacks the skill to devise a game plan, to make in-game adjustments, to capitalize on the particular skills of individual players, and so on. He may or may not make a suitable QB coach for Drake May, but to this point he is not working out as OC. I would give him the rest of the year, but barring a very surprising change in his approach, I would anticipate he will be a one-and-done.

I have probably posted too much about Mayo, so I'll skip the details, but to this point his tenure is an obvious bust. The team is by any reasonable standard or metric in a state of failure. It is the worst team in the league, and - ironically enough for a HC who claims to value "culture" and "relationships" - the team is falling apart as a group of men capable of and willing to work together. I would in fairness give Mayo the remainder of the season to show what he can do, but I would expect, again barring unlikely major changes in his approach, Mayo also to be out at season's end.

How did it come to this? Simple. The Krafts chose not to have a legitimate, professional hiring process after rightly letting Bill go, and this is the result: an inexperienced and incompetent coaching and front office staff. They got lazy, sloppy, inattentive, cheap; apparently thinking that ditching Bill would magically put things right. The worst offense, of course, was permitting Robert's silly infatuation with Jerod as a charming travel companion determine who would lead the rebuild of their team. I am not one who has complained much about the Krafts in the past, but clearly it is time for change there as well. I don't know if Johnathan can do the job, but it is clear, I take no delight in saying, that Robert no longer can.

I am aware that this post sounds like an indulgence in bomb-throwing, but I think that this is a reflection not so much of my animus or curmudgeonly ways as it is of the team's obvious failings, or so I imagine..

It's becoming quite obvious that Mayo is His own man and didn't learn a lot from BB. Throwing your Team under the bus is something BB never do, I don't think Mayo's short tenure is going to end well.

Nice post: Two of the best Offensive minds will be available at Seasons end, and Drake Maye will be a nice draw for either: B Slowik or B Johnson. Mayo is not ready for prime time like most of his Team...players reflect their Head Coaches.

My main interest at this point in the season is Drake Maye. As such my main worry at this point in the season is someone doing a Mac Jones on Drake Maye. If we ruin this kid I'll just about be done with both the Pats and the NFL. You have been warned, Thunder!

A lot of people are hell bent on leaving a paper trail on how much they don't want Maye playing and how it's going to ruin his development.

Let it go. He already proved every one of you wrong.
You must’ve missed the play last week when he was nearly broken in two by the Houston DE Anderson… Probably where he damaged his knee also…

He is right.

You need 2 TDs ASSUMING you get the 2 point conversion.

If you take 1 on the first one you are playing for one score. If you score and miss the 2, you lose.

If you take the 2 point try on the first score, you now have the knowledge of whether you made it and need 1 score or missed it and need 2.

In the event you make the 2 it was irrelevant which score you got it on.

In the event you miss the 2 if you do it on the first score now you know in this case with 9 minutes left that you actually need 2 more scores.

There is no advantage to forestalling it.

If you are down 9 with 9 minutes left you play very differently than if you are down 7.
Settling fir being down 7 means you don’t have the benefit if knowing that info.

Wrong.

And I will get it out of the way right here because I am sure it will posted soon. The Texans coaches were right. Maye sucks, he does nothing that is elite or has any elite traits.
What are you watching??? Do you know anything about football. Everyone player, coach and professional media analyst is super high on Maye's talent and prospecus. What is your basis. Do you think you just add in a good QB and they automatically win as it's not a team game.... all QB... That's the only angle I could even fathom as to where your at with that comment.
