DRAFT 2024 4th Round Pick - WR Javon Baker

JE's 40 time was 4.52. In other words, exactly the same as Polk and 2 one-hundredths of a second faster than Baker. Jerry Rice was 4.71. I suspect he 'took the top' off of more than one defense.
Edelman also had, what was at the time, the best 3 cone time ever.

I don’t know if it has been bested.

Unless Van Pelt can take the field and run routes for him it won’t make any difference.
KJ, and baker on the outside definitely.. elite speed that would have to be accounted for.. Henry will own the middle of the field with those burners on the outside.

Henry looked like a decent TE before playing with Mac but Mac made him look like he didn't belong. But Mac wasn't the problem.
You’re still missing the point. A bad QB can make everybody look bad. But a good QB can’t make everybody look good. A bad WR is still bad even with a good QB.

Am I missing something? When is 4.5 elite speed?

Yes go to YouTube and look up plays on KJ Osborne and baker.. obviously they had to have some type of speed outside the numbers in order to be drafted and signed.

He's by FAR the speediest WR on the roster. He needs to 1) Improve his f'ing snap reaction time because it sucks - shocking for someone with a T&F background, 2) Run crisp routes, and most importantly 3) Catch the f'ing ball. I really like him and hope he sticks.

I'm just surprised they barely had any jet sweeps with this guy.

I wonder what Hughes and the other Tiquan think of him.

I think they have football speed which is something I am all for but as for timed speed 4.5 isn't close to elite. Tyquan has elite speed and look what that has done for him.

Your right on that. I'll take football speed any day. I'm very excited for the group of guys we brought in.. I really feel like the WR curse can be lifted this time around.

If you watch them on film, they have the ability to create separation at the top of their routes. This means they win the matchup early which gives the QB an easier time to find the open man quickly. So while a 40 time of 4.5 doesn't suggest elite long speed, what these guys are doing is winning their matchups and creating separation. And that's often where the battle needs to be won.

Baker was asked what route he likes and he said ALL of them.

Here we can see a clip that shows why the Patriots scout probably liked him.

Here is a mix of footage that shows how he ran his routes vs GT regardless of results. A Game they lost 30-17.

Obviously a guy like Xavier Worthy looks really tempting with his 4.21 blazing speed. But if he ends up running his routes as poorly as Thornton, and can't get open quickly, he's going to be useless. BTW not saying Worthy is the same guy, I'm saying if he were to share those negative traits that have made Thornton a failure the Chiefs will be very disappointed in who they got. For all I know he could have the blazing speed + great route running, then he would turn into a terror at the NFL level.

Worthy is likely to be broken in half before the season is even a quarter over.

We are all going to kiss Wolf's feet and say GM BB who. Maye - Baker and Polk will be all Hits.
