Zappe came in when the game was essentially lost with zero pressure. He went 4-9, 44% (which is lower than Mac). Had a 6.3 average (which was lower than Mac). His QBR was only 5 points higher than Mac. And he had a 65 passer rating vs Mac's 39. Zappe got swarmed and had negative plays in the three drives he was in. Mac didn't really make a boneheaded play until the end of the first half. Zappe didn't play for close to that long and wasn't feeling the pressure all night. And when he did, he did nothing.

This is the same **** as last year where Zappe comes in with training wheels and does next to nothing but people pretend he's better because they are down on Mac. Then when he actually gets the nod he plays even worse. He also has even worse tangibles. He has an objectively worse arm (which is still Mac's biggest weakness).

Zappe sucks coming in late and not throwing an INT when he has no prospects of winning isn't really showing much. If the dude was making big plays, maybe we can talk, but he wasn't even making better plays than Mac.
LOL. Okay, you keep Corky at QB then and continue to manufacture excuses for why he sucked this week, next week and the week after that. Fortunately he won't be playing much longer.

I don't care about anything you mentioned about arm strength, completion percentage and whatever other measure you may wish to scrounge up to support this guy. He is not an NFL QB because it's mainly between the ears, and the second things get a bit uncomfortable, Mac goes "fight or flight" and lets his adrenaline take over his executive function. This is how someone who has been coached for LITERALLY HIS ENTIRE LIFE to NOT THROW BACK ACROSS THE FIELD OF PLAY does it TWICE IN THE SAME HALF leading to the inevitable pick 6. How many times did he see rush coming and make a back foot lob rather than rely on the mechanics that he has been trained in for the last 10 years of his life, step up and throw? How many times when he needed to simply throw the ball towards someone but into the stands did he just put it up for grabs (AGAIN!)?

That is your brain, and the only way to win in the NFL is to keep calm under intense pressure. He can't keep calm under mild pressure. That isn't going to change unless you find some sports psychology guru. He had how many drives where he could have got us the tie or lead in the last quarter and has done that exactly how many times? You know he's going to mess up once things don't go perfectly, it's just a matter of time.

They haven't won a playoff game since 2019. That's not all Mac. You can pretend it is. But it's just objectively not. And Zappe sucks. He's proven he sucks multiple times. Crying about Mac Jones isn't going to make Zappe the answer. Whenever you put him in the same situation as Mac, he plays as bad or worse. Even today he did absolutely nothing.

Mac's probably not the guy, but the guy ain't on this roster and when we draft the guy someday, he's still going to be screwed if this is the offense the team gives him.

Teddy J ripping the Pats...says the opponents have answers for everything the Pats defense tries. it's true
**** Ted Johnson. Dude has an unbiased axe to grond and his Asante schtick is old. Of course teams have an answer for everything the defense tries. Their defensive backfield coming into the season was a strength. Now they have have guys like Wade, Bryant and Mapu out there. Give me a ****ing break TED!

We saw Brady not march the offense up and down the field against this Dallas team with Evans and Godwin 5 games ago lol

That was Brady at 45 years old with Todd Bowles as his HC.

I'm not interested in whether Mac is the fault we haven't won a playoff game, I am interested in having QB play that doesn't give us a negative likelihood of winning. He has become a turnover machine because of his loss of executive function in the heat of games. That is a non-starter, there is no transition role he can play while doing this, there is no benefit to his continuing to start at QB. I agree Zappe is limited and has less talent than Mac as a QB in terms of measureables, and is not the long-term answer for this franchise. But continuing with Mac has what benefit? We know he's not the guy, and he's losing his composure on a regular basis. Put someone in there who can hand off the ball, make safe throws and not turn it over and play the field position and strong D game to grind out wins. That's what this team is built for, and Mac has proven he can't do that.

Unless you want to tank. Mac would make a great Tank Commander.

What benefit does Zappe have? If you want to tank, start him and keep Mac on the bench so you can maybe trade him for a 4th or 5th. Mac had a **** game, but he's not the reason we went into this week 1-2.

The team just sucks. The sooner people accept that and stop looking for quick fixes, the better off everyone will be.

There is zero chance he is starting a QB he cut before the season. He would not have cut him unless he made up his mind about him.

If he starts Zappe, it would mean that he is tanking which he won't do.
Keeping Mac as the starter is the clearest indication he is tanking.

Apparently the critical posters on this board DO have better offense roster building judgment than BB
20 plus million per year for this GM’s inept offense?

Mac does not have the makeup or mental fortitude to be a starter in this league… period
I thought for a moment he was gonna cry on the sideline. What a leader !

He was responsible for the Eagles lost. He threw a TD pass to the wrong team, still had two chances for game winning drives and took a dumb delay of game penalty on a critical 4th down and another inexcusable sack to kill the other drive.

He again torpedoed todays game by basically handing the ball off to the Cowboys for a TD and followed that up with another TD pass to the Cowboys.

How can you be directly responsible for spotting the other team 14 points and then blame everyone sucks?

In this game alone in the first half -

Had Parker open running across and he throws it behind him on third down. Throwing off his back foot. Should have kept the drive going.

Geisicki was open for a TD and he missed him.

Throws across his body and nearly intercepted, doesn't learn his lesson and does it again for a pick six.

4th down sneak just falls down when there's no defender around him. Should have kept that drive alive.

Doesn't have any pocket awareness at all, getting stripped sack near his own end zone.

This is the same crap we saw last year that we all blamed Patricia for.

If this was Zappe the pro-Mac crowd would be going nuts about how awful he is.

I don't even care if it's Zappe or Malik or Grier. Anyone but Mac at this point.

Mac is Myles Bryant level player. We know he sucks, we can put him in situations where he can look somewhat decent, but if you're gonna depend on him, you're team is screwed.

I'm going to say this in the most respectful way possible. You do not understand football

I'll take that as a compliment coming from someone with your football opinion.
That's why you keep responding to me lol. Okay here's the less nice version.

You are a homer, who doesn't want to believe that the team is fundamentally bad at multiple levels, and no QB is making this a winning team. Brady had a better offense and people like you were calling him washed when he left because he didn't buy in and put up with the **** sandwitch that was given to him with the Patriots offense, and 5 years later this is the worst offense we've had in 20 years even completely ignoring who the QB is.

This would be the worst offense Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Tua, Burrow, Herbert, Watson, Garroppolo, Russell Wilson, Rodgers, Prescott, etc have ever had in their career. And they've all struggled with better offenses.

Mac isn't the reason we lost to the Eagles or Dolphins. And frankly, today was an overall ass beating and as bad as Mac was, one player isn't the reason they lost 38-3. The line collapsed on damn near every play. Zappe was getting eaten alive as well. The best RB only had 30 yards off 14 carries. The WR's were absymal as usual and one took off a perfectly placed TD pass because he couldn't hold on. The defense gave up nearly 400 yards, the team had 50 yards of penalties and most of them were stupid, they couldn't even avoid a delay of game on a field goal attempt. On defense Dallas converted double the 3rd downs we did and got 22 first downs. And when Dallas did have the ball, they sustained drives and won the TOP battle. They let Dallas' running backs more than double ours in rushing. They let Dak complete 82% of his passes.

It was a total team collapse and Mac was part of it. But the team is independently ****. You are the same type of person that was screaming for Stidham a few years ago and Zappe last year even though they were both hot garbage. You just don't like the outcomes and want a quick fix that doesn't exist. There's literally no evidence that any QB on this team is as good as Mac even with his struggles, and no QB is winning this game for us today.

Why is there a debate Mac vs zappe again? Cant we all agree they both suck and we need a QB? That and a coaching staff.

This is probably the worst I've ever seen the team look in my lifetime.

Yes there are injuries, but all through the dynasty one of the key factors that made things work was Depth.

The fact that the team is thin at literally every position says so much about the last 5+ years worth of personal decisions.

Mac's rookie season bill brought in and spent on a giant pile of trash. The only player worth keeping is judon.

Overall just really depressed regarding the outlook of this team.
Somewhere, Rod Rust smiled at your post.

Mac is a piece of the problem.

Kraft needs a new GM, BB will probably walk out, but there aren’t many teams out there that have their coaches do GM work and to be honest that’s a good idea.

The team has lots of money, it needs to go out there and spend it and put a solid team. Going to the value store isn’t going to fix this team issue.
Top to bottom things have to change.
You have to be willing to take risks and get the top player in the draft.

It’s sad to see, but the BB era in NE is coming to an end.

It never ends well for football coaches. Even legendary ones.

Lincoln Riley for next coach would be nice but is a pipedream.
