DRAFT 2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

In case people were wondering about Blount.

The "Cons" I saw about Blount (and I value their take with a grain of salt) is from thedraftnetwork.com :
"As a zone defender, Blount’s eyes and instincts are extremely inconsistent and he will often bite on double moves resulting in big plays. He doesn’t have the athleticism to recover when he makes a mistake. Blount takes very poor angles to the football as a run defender and comes in out of control at times, leading to missed tackles. "
I agree about the athleticism and said as much. It's weird sometimes a player will play fast, text poorly and vice versa. Not familiar but I'll read it when I get a chance.

What's happening with Pickens?
Just a headcase. At work but I'd be shocked if he's here. Watch it happen lol but honestly I'd be surprised. He's been suspended a few times a believe. He's got into with position coaches. It was a chore for Kirby to get him in line. Let's DB's in his head way to easy. Just dumb immature stuff that never stops. Switched schools last minute which isn't a huge deal but shows in indecision and again it's been a pattern. Saban stopped going after him to go to Bama. His dad played in the league was a nut. Again I'd be shocked if he was here but who knows.

Then I'm changing it to metchie

You haven't been listening regarding Pickens I take it lol. I like the trade back
I don't see that Pats taking Pickens over Watson..

Watson is taller. Has bigger hands. Better 40. Better vertical. Better Broad jump.

Watson put up the following at his Pro Day:
18 Reps on the bench
6.96 3-Cone
4.19 shuttle.

From what I can find, Pickens didn't do any of the agility drills at his Pro-day. That's a big red-flag to me since he played in Georgia's last regular season game coming back from an ACL..

Pickens doesn't' scream "AJ Green" like I've seen from some comparisons. He screams Chad Jackson.

First thought after watching that is that the Lucas Oil suites are probably bugged for the combine. Wouldn't put it past those asweepays.

As much as I despise the Kansass Sh!tty Queefs, I'm making that trade - and that pick - in a heartbeat...

I also like the 2nd-round trade, but not the pick... If I'm taking a WR here, then it would be Christian Watson... Too many issues with Pickens for my liking at #44... Otherwise I'm leaning toward DE Cameron Thomas, for now, but he really needs an impressive personal pro day on April 4th...

Watson will be drafted by chiefs and become the next hill. We should trade down and possibly draft him in 40s .

21 + 53 = 31 + 42 + 76 and use the 76 on Metchie / best available Linebacker . Most likely 31 on elam.

I prefer KPD's trade scenario.

I've come around to BCGs thinking that Lloyd isn't a a fit for the Pats system. Not addressing the D-Line early is a mistake. People are way too hung up on the NAME WRs and don't seem to care that BB focuses on the Improving the LINES before positions like CB and WR.

A 338 lb D-Lineman who can't handle the power run game is worthless.

"But on power run plays, Farrell offers little resistance. He is often flushed out of the play and displaced three-plus yards off the ball."

I'd definitely want to hear @BaconGrundleCandy 's take on this to see if Draft Network is legit in their profile or if they plain suck and should be ignored..

Kpd ? What trade scenario?

Just have to scroll up or click on the link:

21 FOR 29, 94, 121, 251

Yea I disagree there. He's not perfect but he's a good nose that can two gap and hold up well in the run game. He has some bad weight and he tested poorly but he's more than capable of being a solid rotational nose. Inconsistent but when on pretty good jump off the ball. Always tries to maintain good leverage off the snap. He'll show colors to one side and flash to the next gap. I'm out rn can't get into much detail but he's got nice value in the 4th or 5th.

They have a number of analysts. Some are better than others in my experience, but it's always good to challenge our conceptions on prospects.

I actually like to look through the Steeler Depot draft profiles for breakdowns. They support their assertations with video clips and tend to track fairly well with my own observations over the years. Obviously, none of us are infallible, but they do a pretty good job from what I've seen.

I have tbh I don't even know who's still working for TDN. Jordan Reid is at ESPN, good for him. Very likeable and hard working. He seems like a good dude. I know he grew up with Chris Paul and is tight with him so that couldn't have hurt but he's great on his own. Solak's at the Ringer. He's unbelievable and I should check him out more. I really can't think of anyone else? I know Crabbs but don't follow him.

I have to be honest I don't read too much when it comes to draft stuff. As hard as that may seem believe it or not. I definitely should read more in general but more draft opinions for sure. And listen to some pods I'm slacking severely there.

Anyway I always read Waldman. Been reading him for years now. He's one of the best imo of course only for WR, RB, TE etc but still he puts in a ton of work. I'll always check out Dane's "the beast" when it's out. He's one of the best too. Lance is a fav of mine. I know there are others but there's only so much time in the day lol. I do have a few people I check in with a few old timers and ask their advice or thoughts. One Bama alum that is pretty close with some of the staff there. Has been coaching HS and scouting longer than I've been alive. Talking to him is a treat though. Always learning something new or getting some background or some insights. He has a tremendous eye. Scouting HS kids, college prospects for years. I know another guy up here that used to go to BC I trust.

I suppose that's enough but it couldn't hurt to do more.

I always wanted to compared guys like that against myself but would need a lot of help. I think it would be a great exercise though. Someone on here (TBHelmut) used the AV score from pro football reference for mine and the NFL and it was very interesting. I'd like to see that used for all the big shots and see what we get.
