NFL News 2021 NFL Free Agency/Trade News & Discussion: April Edition

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
The base and strategy will change from opponent to opponent, but if I had to guess in general:

DE Wise
NT Godchaux
DE Anderson

OLB Judon
ILB Hightower
ILB Van Noy
OLB Uche
CB Gilmore
FS McCourty
SS Phillips
CB Jackson

Edit - Not a 3-4 base on defense apparently, which makes sense given the frequent use of the fifth defensive back. I’m open to learning on this sort of stuff.

That's the Worst feckin DL in Football. All 3 - ALL THREE - are grossly over-paid.

I want Guy & DaQuan Jones as my DTs, with an umbrella of Judon, Hightower, McMillan & KVN...Eric Wilson should've been part of this too...
Perhaps KJ Wright can now be enticed to switch coasts...

Breer says the chart says 15, 120, 122, and 2022 1.
We would be crazy not to do that.

But for whom?

For Wilson or Jones? Maybe...

For Lance? I'm keeping #120...

For Fields? They would have to pay Me...

Except that Uche is MUCH smaller than Collins...Dude thinks he's a Pass-Rusher when he's actually built for ILB or Weak-Side LB...but he cannot/doesn't want to play inside with the Grown Men and he has ZERO demonstrable coverage skills...Horrible trade-up and pick.
I disagree. Collins as a rookie was much less bulked up than Collins a few years later.

I want fields. Fields will end up being #1 or 2 QBs in this draft.

It'll be Guy, Godchaux, and Anderson, which isn't nearly as terrible as you're saying.

When Sileo is behind the rumor, you know its complete BS!

The Pats would be immediate Super Bowl contenders.

Rodgers did ask for a new contract.

Let me guess: this came out from the middle of your butt-cheeks and you just couldn't hold it in?

If i ignore the laughable attempt of misrepresenting Uche as a player - which i believe was just your TM grumpy routine - saying that he
“doesn't want to“ play inside - is beyond even your hatred standards.. and goes against your main agenda vs BB authoritarian

On that ZERO part though:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is "infatuated" with Florida's Kyle Pitts and could trade up to draft the Florida tight end.

Add this to the storied history of Jones becoming fixated on an explosive offensive weapon in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft. Dallas, which now has the tenth pick in the draft, would likely have to part ways with their 2022 first rounder -- and more, perhaps -- to acquire the Falcons' No. 4 spot and draft Pitts, who would join an offense jam packed with talent. If Pitts lands in Dallas, he would have an outrageously high average draft position in seasonal leagues.

If money is any indicator (we signed all of them to new contracts this year so it's a better comparison than we can usually make), the pecking order would be Godchaux -> Wise -> Guy -> Anderson. I know it won't necessarily play out according to contract, since markets involve more than just how good a player is perceived to be, but it's one angle to consider.

We need a fattie nt in this draft.

shelvin in round three is a natural in our defense.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that. The only thing I can come up with is the age factor - Guy is much older. He gave the Pats a great deal - maybe no one was rushing for along-term deal for a 30+ guy?

What Breer or the chart says is totally irrelevant. The price is what the market will bear. The Dolphins got a much better return to go from 3 to 12 than any of the draft charts would have predicted.

Even if Pitts becomes an elite TE, Prescott will still find a way to not make the playoffs.

We have Guy, Adams and Cowart.
Guy is certainly a starter.
There will be many, many different sets.

Maybe Belichick thinks we need one more, probably not. You have your favorite in Jones, a regional choice. However, the entire front six of out top 10 defense will be made better by the acquisitions and the return of Hightower.

They score 35 and the other team scores 48. Their defense is putrid.
Prescott has had plenty of talent on both sides of the ball during his tenure but always finds a way to implode. Even if they shore up the D, they’ll get the same results with Dak.

Biggest overpay in NFL history.

Judon, Hightower, and Van Noy improve the entire DL by leaps and bounds. So will Godchaux, if those who say he doesn't get moved are correct.

When you adjust for incentives/other contract fluff, the only real outlier in terms of money in that group is Godchaux with the other three making money in the same ballpark as one another. Guy certainly got less money than I expected, and Wise got more than I expected, so it probably is an age thing.
