2017 Draft Prospect Thread

I can't believe I forgot to mention Taywan Taylor earlier. Good player. Productive, nice routes, good speed. I also like Coley as a later round developmental deep threat. I'm not huge on Etta-Tawo, but he's got good size and had solid production. So many WRs this year that I can't even keep up with all of them.

I love Taylor. That kid is gunna tear up the combine. He has some wheels, reportedly sub 4.4 and explosive.

Easily going top 10 if true.

I honestly didn't expect that kind of athleticism. I've viewed him as more of an inside/outside guy, but if he's really got that kind of speed and explosion, then he could be an edge rusher or an OLB, and that drives up his value immensely in the eyes of many in this league. Personally, I think a versatile DL is gold. Edge guys get overrated, but they definitely make the big bucks. Will be interesting to see how he does.

Absolutely. Common thought, for w/e reason was he's not a great "athlete".

Those would be great #'s and I'm sure his jumps would be big w/ that reported vert.

The only thing about those numbers are that there's no COD numbers. 3-cone is pretty important for an edge guy. That's we'll have to wait and see.

Isaiah Ford

He has to add a lil muscle, only8-10lbs and he's good to go. Could be legit impact rookie. Has everything to succeed.

Evan Engram

I ****in love this kid. Its weird but I can't deny my feelings. Not perfect but he's so perfect for us. Hines Ward around the los and Hernandez body control and hops. Ive seen him have success against Landon Collins and block Demarcus Walker. Great kid. Has to be a Pat.

I love Mike but the value isn't there for me. Not in the 1st. Great all around player w/ speed and balance.

I agree, but it means the first half of the second is strong possibility.

Kamara is nice, but what does he give you that Marlon Mack doesn't? I'd rather take Mack in the 3rd / 4th than Kamara in the 1st / 2nd.

Normally you'd hear a lot more about a 6'6 / 260 kid who will turn 22 in June.

Here is a fun one

Lorenzo Jerome
st Francis
6ft 195lbs

The Ed Reed of the FCS.

When you watch tape of players, playing against lower level opponenets, your hope is that they take over games on almost play by play. Well, that is the reality for Lorenzo Jerome, who plays two steps faster, and with a ton of moxie to make the game look far too easy.

He isn't the biggest guy, but he has no problem making plays over the middle or near the line. Flash plays? Has had almost 20 ints in his four year career, and finds the ball all over the field, from deep center field, to TE crossing routes. With the ball in his hands, he almost looks like he is toying with the opposition, with cuts and stutter steps along the way. Special teams? Kick and punt return TDs (4 total) make him a very dangerous 4 down player. He has all the things you hope a safety will have when you turn on the tape.

Now, how will it translate once he's going against real talent? Does the swagger and moxie stay, as well as the ball skills and fearlessness? Does his speed and size hold up once he's being pressed by bigger and bladder dudes? Can't say, which is why he's probably a 4-5th round guy instead of round 1-2.

But keep an eye on him. He will be in the nflpa bowl, and might get a Late senior bowl invite if things go well.

Yup. I think people underrate him because of his teammate on the other side, but I don't see why he can't be a first rounder if Taco Charlton is getting the same buzz. Similar players.

Every time I watch tape of the Texas a&m defense, it is hall that pops for me.

He has the length and burst, not a lot of power or run stopping ability. as a third or fourth round pick, we could make something of him.

I like him, but I have a feeling that after the Combine, he's no longer going to be viewed as a third round pick. I strongly believe he'll go in the top 50 picks.

Imagine if Darboh had a real quarterback?

This is all I've seen of him, but this is nice coverage and ball dkills from a safety.

But this jumped out as far as the Pats are concerned:

IN OUR VIEW: An NFL scout told me the Louisiana Tech coaches rave about his work ethic, preparation and makeup, showing the leadership traits to "get on teammates" when needed.

Xavier Woods, SS, Louisiana Tech

Chad Reuter names Xavier Woods the top prospect at the Shrine Game:

Jim Cowsert/Associated Press

1. Xavier Woods, S, Louisiana Tech
People in Ruston will tell you that they loved having Woods on their team for four years, and Conference USA coaches thought enough of his talent to name him first-team All-Conference USA each of the last three seasons. Woods was highly productive in his 2015 (56 tackles, 7.5 for loss, three INT, three PBU) and 2016 (89 tackles, 6.5 for loss, five INT, 6 PBU) all-conference campaigns. While he's not the tallest of defenders, he's strong and athletic, willing to hit and create the turnover -- and he's a future NFL starter.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who seems to love the engram. I see a bigger Hernandez in him, not quite as elusive but he gets the job done well enough, but he can high point the ball with the best of them. I think if he's drafted here he could easily be one of BBs most versatile players. He can line up as a receiver with his size, hes shown he can line up as a TE and If he were to come here he wouldn't be asked to do it as much considering well have gronk and possibly Marty back next yer to take the blocking duties, and lastly he can line up in the backfield like Hernandez used to. As you can tell i love this kid as a fit for us regardless if we have Marty back here or not.
