We already have our version of Ryan Anderson: the recently re-signed Donta Hightower. At the moment, we need a Coverage LB more than a Hightower backup, and because we have so many fewer picks than we are used to having, we have to prioritize our available resources more than we did so in the past. Same goes for Tomlinson, whom I also like; but we have a greater need for a DE than for another 0/1-tech DT.

What I meant was that I "like" Tomlinson and could see him as a Pat, not that I'd draft him this year. A young, solid DT like Tomlinson would be a pure luxury pick.

However, I see Anderson as being a potential replacement for 33-year-old Nink (who's UFA at the end of the year) - a solid, generalist OLB/DE type for the side opposite HT. Ealy may be capable of covering at least some of Nink's role and skillsetfor 2017, but he could walk at the end of the season.

Anderson, OTOH, would give the Pats four relatively inexpensive years (out of the 3rd round), provide additional leadership to the off-the-ball crew, and allow both HT and Ealy to drop down to the line more often, thus alleviating the thinness at DE. Anderson is also pretty decent in coverage, though not a "coverage LB", per se.

Meanwhile, aside from HT, the off-the-ball crew doesn't seem all that solid to me. Van Noy seems pretty good, but he could also walk at the end of the season. Freeny and McClellin are "okay", but Roberts has been limited as a two-down run-stopper so far (though he could progress). So, adding Anderson would be a general, long-term upgrade to the LB corps.

In terms of coverage LBs, there's the uber-athletic Trevor Bates from the PS (snagged from Indy during the season last year), and the Pats have worked out a couple-three LBs with proven coverage skills who'll likely be available fairly late (e.g., Eric Wilson).

Coleman seems to be a pretty decent player, though he may have reached his ceiling. He might even be a regular nickel CB (or even starter) on another team. However, in THIS Pats secondary (as long as Butler stays), he's primarily a backup.

    Thanks for that. My comments:

    1) as a BC grad myself, I'm so embarrassed that I never realized that Mike Mayock went there too. He graduated far before I did.... Still, no wonder I always liked him! :)

    2) (makes sure non-BC grad wife isn't looking....) They're not kidding about the girls at BC..... Thinking back 20 years ago, damn............

    3) I used to do that reservoir walk myself, it was a good stress reducer, and, well, see number 2 above. Never remember seeing football players on that walk.

    4) I was in an astrophysics class (101 level) "with" Damien Woody. Highlight of the class was the professor frequently doing roll call, and in his German accent saying, "Damien Woody" over and over again like Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller's Day Off..... I can't speak for how well he did in the class, but I can say that he's earned a boatload more in his career than I ever will....

    5) back on topic, I know I'm biased but I came away very impressed with Johnson's maturity. With Harmon back he's unnecessary, but I could have seen him being a decent fit here if that weren't the case.

My daughter will be attending BC in the fall, and as native Greater Bostonians, my wife (Milton) & I (Dorchester) are very familiar with the Reservoir…and Alumni Stadium…and MaryAnn's (is that still there? I don't remember seeing it on our campus visit last summer)...

After evaluating the QBs. I have come to the conclusion that peterman is going to be the best QB in the class

This year Pats UDFA hunters will have a really difficult job of convincing prospects/managers that there is actually some room on their notoriously loaded roster..

OK. Late question. Where do people stand on Teez Tabor in the 3rd? We were playing more Quarters scheme last year and the Gilmore acquisition/Sherman interest this year possibly suggests a cover-3 defense is a possibility. With safety help bailing out his lack of speed, I think Tabor could fit both schemes, particularly at that value. There are question marks about how he interviewed but I do sense a potential bargain in Tabor at the right price.

My best Binky and a bust at each position. Binky first Bust second. Trying to make my Best Binky a middle to late round pick

    QB-Peterman, Watson(pains me to say
RB-Cook was my favorite college player this year, but he is obvious. I suppose Mixon is obvious too but who knows when he will go. I think Whoever takes him is making a great decsion, Fornette will probably prove me wrong, but I say BUST
WR-Darboh, The bust here is hard to find. He might not be a first round pick, But I will say schuster
    TE-OJ Howard, Butt
T- Davenport, Robinson (didnt want to be cheap by naming the kid from wisco but he is the best in the draft)
G- Mama and johnson, not sure anyone will be worth calling a bust here
C-just going with binky here. Elflein
    DT- Jaleel Johnson, Mcdowell
    DE- Lawson, McKinley
    ILB- Kwon Mcmillan, Davis
    OLB- Reeves Maybin, Tim Williams
    CB-Moreau, White
S-Have to go with hooker, For Bust Ill say williams

I think I'd rather go with Griffin. About the same size as Tabor, more athletic, and a better/more willing tackler in the run game, from what I've read.
