2017 Draft Prospect Thread

I'll definitely be praying for his family. Tragic. By all accounts, he's a good kid. What a shame that his father won't be able to see him take his next step as an NFL player.

Looks Lombardi ends up being right. No team will take Peppers in the first round.

Hammerman also suggests Marcus Maye might be the target, a name that hasn't been talked about much.

Really interesting. He's very instinctive, and was regularly reported as the leader of that talented secondary. All the players on the team look up to him. I see him as fairly similar to McCourty/Harmon. I figured we'd look for a bigger body as a Richards replacement and Chung understudy, but maybe not. I'd be okay with that pick.

Maybe out of reach for the Pats at #72?

Depends on the medical. He only had a broken arm, so he should recover nicely. I expect he'll go somewhere in the 50 - 75 range.

I wouldn't.

We need help on the OL (especially LT) and on the DL (especially DE).

And Bill would be absolutely stupid to trade Butler for only one 2nd-rounder, to be used on a…SAFETY?!?

An interesting article on some sleepers on bleacherreport of all places. I didn't realise they still did good pieces....

2017 NFL Draft: Who Are This Year's Biggest Sleepers?

A couple of things that stood out...

1) Six OLs with similar measurables (height, 3 cone, short shuttle) as Will Holden have been selected in first 4 rounds since 2008. Two of them are Nate Solder and Sebastian Vollmer

2) Grover Stewart is a speciman and a half

3) Xavier Woods is a "poor mans McCourty". (I haven't really watched any of Woods, so I have no idea of the merit of this statement)

4) Vince Biegel had my curiosity. Now he has my attention.

Great names. All of them are on my short list of players I like. I'm continually surprised at how much good content is on BR.

Id bet Tomlinson and Anderson are close to top on BB's board of “players I like“.

Here from Tim William's perspective in his “good guy“ version:

I actually interviewed your teammate Dalvin Tomlinson recently. I asked him which teammate he would bring to war with him if he could only bring one and he said Ryan Anderson. Who would you bring?

Williams: I’d bring Ryan also. Dalvin said the right name. Ryan may never be the fastest player, he might not have the longest arms or biggest hands in the measurements, but Ryan’s got heart. Ryan is a football player. When he puts those shoulder pads on, I don’t know many guys that are gonna’ beat Ryan with effort. I don’t know anybody who’s gonna’ continuously beat Ryan to the ball and things like that. Ryan gives 100% effort on every play, no matter what. We could be in the fourth quarter with a minute left and we’re beating a team by 30 points, Ryan is still giving the same effort. He’s the same way in practice also. Ryan gained a lot of people’s respect in practice alone. Ryan never loafs and he’s always running to the ball. He’s always one of the first guys in the meeting room and one of the first guys in the weight room. Ryan does the little things that some people just don’t understand.

I like both Anderson and Tomlinson a lot for the Pats.
