2015 already looking to be a mess for the Bills- Marrone opts out

Oh I hope they get Sexy Rexy up in Buffalo.

Jets hiring Marrone after firing Rex would be a trade down.

I posted a new thread but Polian is the new president of the Bills

Bills have no first round pick this year, and no quarterback. And....
>>>>>>>>>>>While Marrone was negotiating an extension beyond the two years remaining on his four-year $16 million deal, uncertainty over potential organizational changes influenced his decision, according to sources.

Marrone's clause also allows him to walk with his 2015 guaranteed base salary of $4 million without it counting as an offset against any future salary even if he should land another job, sources said. Marrone now is free to negotiate with any team seeking a head coach.
<<<<<<<<<

If I'm a coach, I'm signing with whomever his agent was who negotiated that deal..Buffalo was desperate and it came back to bite them in the tush..... Your best QB retired, no first rounder....and that nemesis 400 miles southeast of you doesn't look like their ready to cede the mantle just yet...Smart move, Doug.

How much of Rex's success on D against us can be attributed to the divisional rivalry though. I don't want Philben gone because he's beat the Pats a couple times in the last few years.

Rex is almost guaranteed ineptitude on offence and I'd take that with the entertainment value.

I wouldn't count on Rex's shortcomings defining his next job. We live and learn and Rex is probably no exception. I'll be shocked if his next gig comes with circus tents, Superbowl guarantees, wigs, and offensive ineptitude.

So the AFC head's :
Philbin stays (?!??!)
Jets and Buffalo looking
NEP same for a decade and a half

One day, the Patriots won't win the division - but it doesn't seem as though that is happening soon.

If/when Tampa drafts Mariotta, they will likely move Mike Glennon. After watching him throw passes to Tim Wright, he looked decent, , the Bills could get a cheap decent QB in Glennon and pick a guy like Bryce Petty in the later rounds to go with a good defence.

Would be a better plan than Jay Cutler.

Yes, and when you add in new ownership and:

For those questioning my reporting all day of the rising friction between Marrone and the front office, this good enough proof for you?

Bill Polian will be taking over as Bills team president/football czar but move may not be announced til late Jan, due to his commitments

this sets up as if it was pretty much bound to happen.

probably thinks with what he did with the bills he can get a better gig like atlanta or the niners those teams have much more talent than the bills overall

Yeah, most Guys don't dump their girlfriend /wives unless the already have another one all picked out!

I bet the Jets tampered with him

  • . Sounds illegal to me. i had considered that you don't just quit your job unless you have another one lined up, but put the thought out there anyway. But yeah he must have been contacted by oh possibly a team that rhymes with mets?

Buy low, Sell High.. doubt he can realistically expect to go higher next year without a QB...

The lack of a QB might cost them their entire contention window. Unless they luck out with finding an average QB off the scrap heap it might take them until half of their great defense is off their rookie contracts.. seems to me like the cycle of futility will continue over there..

Polian and Fisher will push the rules committee to eliminate the QB position, and the forward pass, this season.

Wow, immediate suggestions he is the new favourite to land with the Jets.
F-a-v-o-r-i-t-e. You're on an American message board, so please use American English.

What I want to know is WHY he decided to leave. New owner and Polian, perhaps?

Maybe Maroon will go to the Green Beans and Wrecks will take the Bills job. That would be classic.

Marrone did what he was hired to do...beat the Patriots in Foxboro. Mission accomplished...good luck, Doug.

Glennon "outstatues" Drew Bledsoe. He has the footwork of a Clydesdale.

First I have always thought Marrone was a pretty good HC, and the Bills were making progress under him.

I think the problem he had was the typical insecurity that comes when a new owner or GM comes to town. To that end, it was reported, implied, or speculated that after the season Marrone tried to increase his power within the organization, in order to better secure his position. Evidently it didn't happen and he took a 4MM by out and is now certainly in the mix for one of the open jobs.

Af first it was a big surprise when I heard about this, but when you think about it, it does makes some sense for both sides. Now the new owner will get the chance to hire his own guy, and Marrone gets 4MM PLUS instantly becomes one of the top candidates for another HC next year. But I feel badly for Bills fans. They were a QB away from being a real competitor for the Pats.

As for Rex, on the surface it looks like a good landing spot for him, HOWEVER, I think that Rex has had enough of the AFCE and fighting the Pats. The NFCS is more his style.

New owner. And now new team president.

Probably saw the writing on the wall...or maybe someone higher up in the organization gave him an opportunity to write his own exit.
