Texans Potentially a Trade Partner with Patriots For Boutte?

I really don't get it either.

WR is the deepest position on the team, and the runner up isn't even close, but posters can't wait to pare it down.
I really don't get it.
We will roster 6.
We have SB aspirations.
Injuries happen.
Unless we are blown away with an offer for Boutte there is no reason to trade him, and we won't be blown away by an offer.
Even as insurance, he has more value here in 2026 than the pick in a trade.
People need to stop with "he will be a distraction".
I've seen zero signs of that, zero!

Because there is a log jam at the position with other receivers ahead of him. You don't field a basket ball team with 5 forwards.
The same logic can be applied at CB. We have posters who are concerned because the Pats don't have a proven outside CB to back up Gonzalez and Davis. This is a guy who probably won't see much snaps barring injury. If the Pats were deep at that position like they were in 2018-2019, you don't start unloading guys.

I guarantee if the Pats trade Boutte, there will be some random ass player that never sees the field and we will revisit this conversation.

Personally, I'd be more inclined to drop Hollins than a young, still developing receiver that our QB has chemistry with. We already have two expensive veterans. Not that Hollins is expensive, but surely, two top paid veterans are enough?

Or if we're looking to get rid of younger guys...for some reason... trade/cut Douglas. He doesn't seem to have hit it off with Maye or McDaniels.

Boutte just makes zero sense to get rid of, either as a cut or a trade.

This is the deepest receiving core for the Patriots since...2011? But you can never have enough receivers. Guys get hurt, suspended etc.

Things happen during the run of an NFL season.

You should take this up with the coaching staff.
I don’t have to, they know. That’s why I am taking it up with you because you don’t.

Man you really don't like Hollins.
He is what he is. There is no world where he is a better WR than Boutte and at 32 on an expiring contact, Williams certainly should stay ahead of him and Douglas is more useful

ROFL. You when someone is desperate for something and you have it...you get to start it where you want to. I wouldn't expect you do understand that. Don't bother replying, it won't respond to any more of your posts regarding this subject.
You are just a fool. That's all. No one is trading a #1 for Boutte. Only an idiot would even ask for it.

We have 3 starting corners and 3 starting WR (those who will get the vast majority of reps barring injuries.

A #4 is more valuable because, barring injuries, the starters will be on the field 100% of the time; the number is lower for WR.

I agree that a 4th WR will get few snaps.

NOW LET's DISCUSS the 5th and 6th WR's and CB's. How critical are they? How many reps will they get?

OK, we have 5 WR's active per game. I would expect that with the new WR additions, and hopefully with a better RB, the number 5 and 6 WR's will get fewer targets. What did they get last year, 3 targets a game? Almost all the targets should go to the top SEVEN targets: 4 WR's (including Williams), 2 TE's, and 2 RB's.

Why should a #5 and #6 WR be even as important as last year?
I suppose Williams will get more targets.
Will Brown, Doubs and Hollins get fewer than the top 3 last year?
Will Riarden get fewer than Hooper?
Will Stevenson and Henderson get about the same?
Do we hope for MORE reps from the running game?

As was the case last year, I don't see more than the top 3 WR plus Williams getting many targets or much production. And that is as it should be. How many insurance policies do we need? 1? 2? 3? As the insurance #5. Vrabel may be fine with Chism.

Ok, so based on your assessment we should trade Pop and Boutte and maybe keep Chism.
All for a what, 2 6ths? Maybe a 5th and a 7th?
We see things differently, I don't see the value in those picks.

I didn't say that we should. I said that if Vrabel likes Chism enough, then he should trade at least one of Boutte and DOuglas before the trade deadline. The pick doesn't matter much. We can better use a roster spot elsewhere on the roster rather than use roster spots on WR6 and WR7.

My personal preference is that we trade Boutte or Douglas and have Chism on the PS. I don't see a role for Boutte. He has been replaced by Doubs.

I don't mean sit him.

They sit the developmental players.

There will be just one less developmental player sitting because Boutte is dressed.
Brown, Doubs and Douglas in the slot are the starters. Williams should be given the remaining snaps on the outside and Chism on the inside. Boutte can’t block as well as Hollins and doesn’t have his length or size. Plus he’s in a contract year and wants a new contract.

What part don’t you get?

Jake Bobo likely done for the year at Seattle too.

The longer the Pats hold on to Boutte, the more players elsewhere will get hurt and the list of potential trade partners will increase. And competition for the trade will only improve our compensation.

Also, the longer the Pats hold on to him the more cover they have against their own potential injury issues

That’s pretty much where I am. If Boutte is on the roster, at some point we will end up very glad that we have him. So the only reason for a trade is an even more valuable return.

The part of what I said you are responding to.
Boutte truthers base every conversation on feelings, you take every ounce of common sense and logic out of it.

It’s a numbers game, the math is simple.

It’s a numbers game, the math is simple.

You've been wrong about Boutte every step of the way.

You said he would be gone by camp.
You said he would be a negative influence in the receiver room.

And another day goes by where it's widely reported the Texans were interested in Boutte, yet they bring in two JAGS instead.

The team is not willing to give Boutte away, at least until they get a better offer or time is on their side.

This is what common sense and logic are saying.

You do the math.

What exactly is a Boutte truther?
This has nothing to do with feelings. I don't know him, don't have a Boutte jersey.
We are a better team with him on the roster in 2026 than trading him for a future 5th rd pick.
We will roster 6 WR, Boutte is one of our 6 best.
That math is as simple as it gets.
Perhaps it's your feelings considering you said him being gone was "a done deal" several weeks ago.

I said he’d be traded, I still believe he’ll be traded. They’re still in camp.
You said he would be a negative influence in the receiver room.
No, I said if the season started and he wasn’t playing he would grouse. The season hasn’t started yet.
And another day goes by where it's widely reported the Texans were interested in Boutte, yet they bring in two JAGS instead.
Clearly nobody (over)values Boutte like the truthers here.
The team is not willing to give Boutte away, at least until they get a better offer or time is on their side.
Or nobody offered anything.
This is what common sense and logic are saying.
This is what your feelings are saying, and if you have to misrepresent what I’ve said all along, there is no logic or common sense.
You do the math.
My math still tracks.
