Lance Kendricks cut, Obi Melifonwu to Practice Squad.

Me too. On our practice squad.
Could be easier to get him through to the PS than it would’ve been Meyers or Gunner.

Good news that Gunner is staying. He looked good.
The Melifonwu decision wasn't surprising. A lot of folks had him on the short list when Brown was listed.

One thing we were waiting for was the salary cap implications. Don't think Melifonwu totally covers that. Since Kendricks was suspended, does that mean his salary is not guaranteed?
Apparently the two year deal gets them under the cap. Several folks, led by Miguel, suggested that as an option - even though all the news reported it as definitively one year.

Interesting that they essentially ran a TE-free game plan yesterday. Maybe that's what we'll see for the next several weeks.

They had Izzo out there throwing blocks last night, and having Devlin helps a ton.

Edit: apparently, Izzo was only out there for 11 snaps as an in-line TE. I wonder if that’s due to the lack of options that they currently have?

I don't see much risk with Brown. If Gordon doesn't stick (real possibility there), they have Brown, Edelman, Dorsett, Meyers, and Harry...and they typically use Burkhead and White a lot. That's a ton of depth whether they have D. Thomas or not.

You have way more faith in Brown than I do. I truly believe Belichick will have a one strike and you are out policy with him. But I hope you are right. Because DT as a 4th WR, Dorsett as a 5th, and Harry and Myers waiting in the wings is filthy. Better than 2007 filthy.

You have to understand Pittsburgh is a toxic environment because of their diva QB shows up late, skips meetings, has a crappy work ethic, and is a selfish d1ck; Brown is not the first and won't be the last to resent the organization since Tomlin is Big Ben's little b1tch. Oakland is a circus.

Brown isn't normally the psycho clown that he became. He's going to appreciate that he's surrounded by perfectionists/professionals and have a QB who would never throw him under the bus and always leads by his own example. This will be like Randy Moss coming in here and realizing there is a whole other side of the NFL, and he'll become reinvigorated by the culture. Name one player who came to NE and didn't love Brady.

BTW- if you get a chance, check out the Josh Gordon presser from last night. I think you will notice a significant change in his demeanor from last year. If you recall, last season Josh seemed to be robotic in his responses. Almost like he was disinterested. He was here, but not involved. Even after great plays he didn't seem to be enjoying it as much as he should have.

In yesterday's presser he seem much more engaged and present in his responses and one the field he seem much more "in the moment" and happy to be there as well. Before this game I put the over under of games Josh would play in the 4 to 5 range. I think after last night, I'd double that.....and take the over.

It seems like he is in a MUCH better place this season.

Insert "I SO hope you are right" emoji here.

I like your optimism. If you are right, this season could be epic.

With this crazy WR depth, Brown is a luxury. He needs the Patriots much more than the Patriots need him. I think BB will want to keep it that way. DT must stay!

Wow what a block Gordon laid on a little squealer

Totally fine with what we have on the roster for WR and carrying the extra slots on our 53. Quality football players stay if all the money works. Either make Patriots a stronger team or contribute to a trade.

OL has enough slots. No idea if those are the guys.

Watson is going to be hard, but still have three games.

What can be done about the lack of depth on the OL?

I really think this may have to do with keeping their word with a player they made a promise to, which is fine. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
Even apart from them keeping their word, I think it makes potentially a lot of sense. If this guy still has it, looking beyond just this year, he could be a valuable weapon for the next two or three seasons. I really think people forget how good this guy was/possibly still is.

I am glad DT was saved, I think he can definitely contribute and with Brown being an unknown in terms of behaviour, it makes sense to keep DT.
