Lance Kendricks cut, Obi Melifonwu to Practice Squad.

Wow, DT is staying...

I really think this may have to do with keeping their word with a player they made a promise to, which is fine. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

Does Obi have practice squad eligibility? With Kendricks being out, does that mean maybe LaCosse is getting closer to being healthy?

let me see if I've got this correctly, they needed to make 2 cuts, one for AB and one for Kendricks coming back. So they cut Obi and Kendricks to get to the limit and the next move will be in 3 weeks when Watson comes back.....

Then later, others when the IR people are eligible to return....

* Not counting anything related to Cannon....

I think with the very real gamble of Gordon and/or Brown lasting 16 games, it makes a lot of sense.

I hope Brown lasts. I really, really hope Gordon lasts. But unfortunately the other shoe could drop for either one any day.

Until the BYE / trade deadline for sure. Someone will need to make space for Harry once he is eligible to rejoin the team from IR. DT is still a prime candidate for that.

I don't see much risk with Brown. If Gordon doesn't stick (real possibility there), they have Brown, Edelman, Dorsett, Meyers, and Harry...and they typically use Burkhead and White a lot. That's a ton of depth whether they have D. Thomas or not.

Best available free agent center is probably Stefan Wisniewski, cut by the Eagles. That is, if we want to use Thuny at RT and Karras at LG, if he can't snap better. That would be better IMO than the best street free agent RT. Lots of moving people around though. But still time to gel.

LOL, street free agent right tackle = street FART.

Feel bad for Obi. He lives very close by, but I don't know him. However, I've been told by everyone who does know hm and his family that they're really nice people. I hope he lands somewhere.

Me too. On our practice squad.

So they're sticking with 1 TE I guess (plus Develin). That's a ton of WRs, but many of them are very good blockers in the run game, so that helps... It also creates interesting scenarios where they have so many talented WRs, some large and some small, that it forces opposing defenses to have to game plan to stop both. They won't know if the Pats will be rolling out Brown, Gordon & DT or Brown, Edelman and Dorsett. Two really different looks. Pats can also gameplan and activate/utilize who they want based on the weaknesses of the opposition's secondary.

Thank god they didn't cut any of the receivers. That was on my mind. Good choices BB!

Cutting DT would have sent an interesting message to the rest of the league given how he waited patiently and played ball with them and how often this team goes to the 'aging former star' well.

They were very cautious throughout the summer as well as last night in terms of managing his Achilles/hammy, so I would have been surprised if they cut him. It would seem as though they have plans for him and have been keeping an eye on the future.

They've got 2 TEs, right now.

They don’t need 11 DBs....I called this in the morning ..... as for Kendricks, he’s useless
