Agreed. Jackson started the season as a clear back-up, and has done more running than passing during his few games starting as a Raven. However, it should be pointed out that this is a guy who passed for more than 9000 yards in three years in college with a 143 QB rating, it isn't like he hasn't demonstrated the ability to throw the ball, at least at the college level. Of course, being productive in college doesn't always translate to the pros, but at least give him a few games before writing him off as a passer. Wasn't Goff considered to be the worse passer in history his rookie year, and then turned it around with a coach who understood offense in year 2? If Jackson is getting it done primarily with his legs, as a rookie, good for him.

....Man, I am really looking forward to Ozzie Newsome retiring this year, he has just been too freaking competent over the years.

Exactly, he passed for over 3500 in his last two years w 30/27 pass TD, while out rushing Barkley his last year I believe.

I'm not delusional about him. He'll never be Marino or Brady. And he doesn't have to be. For a rookie he's been vg. Rookie QB'S aren't supposed to be great or even good. They're supposed to flash why you drafted them & make steps towards consistency & + plays. He's a baby, age wise & has shown enough of his arm & will only get better imo.

Time to buck up. Can't expect a Titans matchup every year, like last year. If I had a choice, I'd place faith in Belicheck and welcome a rookie QB into town, put Chung in the box. But I'm going to enjoy tomorrows game not fretting over the winner. Chargers are really good, but I welcome the challenge. I have a feeling the Pats are going to peak in a big way.

Rooting for the Chargers because them playing the Patriots (home or away) is like the Patriots playing in Miami. They have a lot of talent, but that hasn’t mattered in the past. They’d psyche themselves out for the game and find a way to lose even if they outplay us.

I’m not terrified of the Ravens, but I think they embrace the “bar fight” mentality that they can slap any team in the face. The Patriots aura and HFA has seemed to matter very little. Even that epic Brady comeback in 2014/15 appeared to be another Ravens whooping at Gillette. For whatever reason, Harbaugh has out coached Belichick in the playoffs, and this isn’t a tiny sample size. That and Lamar Jackson is young, naive, the type of QB that gives BB fits, and there’s not a ton of tape on him.

I’ll be rooting for the Chargers mostly because I hate the Ravens though, not so much about the perceived advantage. Pretty sure objectively the spread is about the same with either team.

We saw what an “easy” path was like last year. We were all celebrating when the Jags upset the Steelers, the same Jags that barely beat the Bills at home just a week prior. We got outplayed for 50 minutes of that game and it took an all time great Brady comeback + Playoff Danny at his peak to pull it off.

Then, a QB “backup” was supposed to be an easier game than peak Falcons with red hot Matt Ryan/Julio or peak Seahawks with an all time great defense, Lynch and Wilson. And he decimated our defense worse than both of them.

This year we beat the Bears, Chiefs and Colts, and yet lost to the Titans, Dolphins and Lions.

Any game in the playoffs is going to be hard, there are no easy opponents. As long as we play well, we can beat any team in the league. And vice versa.

Patriots -6 vs Baltimore Patriots -4.5 vs Chargers...

I get the whole Baltimore thing but I think a lot of people are looking to the past too much thinking Baltimore=tough LAC= soft. I'm not viewing it that way. Chargers have a major running attack, more talented offense weapons, an all pro WR, a Hof QB, a Hof TE(I know he's old). They also have a top pick DE and 2 all pro DBs, solid backup RB, potentially an activated Henry. Tyrell Williams has been a solid pro for 3 years now. They have also adopted a 'back against the wall' mentality starting in training camp. This ain't no soft Cali team.

I have to say Baltimore now especially now that Houston is out. San Diego has a lot of defensive talent with atleast 3 all pro caliber players. I’d rather take my chances against Baltimore’s less balanced O.

I’ll be rooting for Baltimore. I think they’d be much easier to plan for, as opposed to having to try and stop both capable run/pass options with LA.

I’d rather face the more one-dimensional offense with the rookie QB.

Yeah like BGC said a few days ago, Jackson can hurt you with his arm. But San Diego is clearly more balanced on offense. But their D can be up and down even with that talent. I think the answer to this depends on how much one thinks there is a difference between the defenses

1. The Chargers are possibly the most complete team in the AFC.

2. We seem to always have the Chargers number.

3. The Ravens always seem to have our number

4. The Ravens match up with us very well and have a running QB which has usually given us fits.

5. Rookie QB's in Foxbourough usually don't do well.

I have no idea. I'd rather the Chargers. I can't see them coming in here and beating us. The Ravens have before. But it's going to be hard regardless.

We are undefeated against rooks in mass with Bb and Tb12 but this ravens team presents a different challenge than maybe any other of those teams and our run defense is “meh” at best
