When McDaniels was HC of the Broncos, they were found to have recorded the pregame walkthrough of another team, and this was after Spygate, which McDaniels was involved in.

The fine was $300,000,

Because no one cares about hammering a 5-11 team.
Bill Cowher and other coaches also said all teams did this and the rules had been on the books for years.

The NFL chose to punish the team with two first round picks, who just won 3 rings and looked like an unstoppable juggernaut.. because the owners wanted to put a restrictor plate on them.

It was Goodell doing the bidding of whining owners. If the Patriots didn’t win, this would be a non-story. Taking two first round picks away during the dynasty for minor infractions was a travesty.

I dont know how you guys (not you Wozzy) here don't hold Kraft to this, everyday.

I mean, I've seen people talk about Butler's benching for YEARS.

But the owner doing jack-****, and in fact, cozzying up to the """enemy""" during all scandals is nutty to me

Even more telling was the stipulation that if the Pats traded for a pick in the same round as the forfeited pick (1st or 4th round of the year in this discussion), then the higher pick in the round was always the forfeited one.

This impacted the Pats ability to conduct normal business, and the punishment was an increasing target.

Let’s say the Pats traded Gronk for a #1 pick in that draft. The Pats already had Gronk. If they traded him for pick #10 while the Pats own pick was #32, the punishment now increases in damage to the Pats by the difference between pick #32 and pick #10.

This is not a punishment, this is vindictiveness.

In “ spygate” Belichick blew off the league memorandum on taping and continued to tape from their regular position, which was the technicality they used to completely screw them.
To get back at Mangina for backstabbing BB.

People talk about the Butler benching because it still hasn't been explained and we probably lost a Super Bowl because of it, the whole world watched him crying on the sidelines during the SB and the announcers were perplexed, and we have had reports for years that it created bad blood with a lot of players.

Everybody understands what happened with those gates and Kraft wasn't changing the outcome.

Butler was one example, but point taken

and even if the outcome wouldnt change

to literally have your owner be buds with the guy who is going after literally your life worth's asset, it's gross. Guy clearly prioritizes his bilionaires buddies he's able to hang out with than the folks who support his existance in said place, lol.

and to have everyone be like "yep that's fine", also gross, in my honest opinion.

If it's tanking then half of the NBA's owners would've already been suspended. Tastes like a big, fat, juicy Nothingburger to me.
Agree, but we all know when it comes to the Patriots there is no such thing as a nothingburger.

It's business. If you know that the outcome won't change you make a decision on if it's better to keep the piece and have good relationships or if you want to be a pariah and make your life harder longterm.

Look what happened to Dan Snyder. Dude was getting heat and probably would have been fine if he wasn't a complete ******* to everyone. He knew he was going to take some sort of flogging, he decided he wanted to go scorched Earth and tell everyone he would take all of them down with him and that he had dirt on the entire league. When that happened he lost all his allies, the dam broke and he was taking huge public L's every week, owners were going on tv saying he should leave, nobody was lifting a finger to help with his stadium issues and it all ended with him crying to with his wife realizing he wasn't going to be able to kill a sale and then him ****ing off to the UK with pretty much zero contact with his home country since as a complete pariah.

Same reason Brady is all chummy with Goodell whenever they have to be together nowadays. He wants to be a minority owner and executive in a team office, it's just good business to not have active bad blood and feuds with people. And Brady ****ing sued them.

I'm sure it was a delicate balancing act, Bob had to keep up relations with these other owners as well. Parity was a strong driver for these owners and it must have been hard for Bob to deny his team was awfully one sided at times and dominant. But giving up first round picks just because your team was so good... seems a bit much.

If I remember correctly he thought he was protecting everyone and then the NFL undermined and gave a bigger punishment.

We do agree then all these Billionaires are scum of the earth, then?

I mean Snyder was scum of the earth, but they only allow him to be treated as SOTE once he broke the big boy's club'ts trust. If Kraft didn't follow suit, he would be treated as SOTE? Or would, let's call, real nature, just be exposed?

KD has just said something pretty remarkable.

'Players are held to a different standard of loyalty and commitment to a program but the organizations don’t get held to that same standard from the outside,”'. I will just explicitily include team owner within "organizations" and agree with him

when is this terrible thing supposed to rear it's ugly head ?

It may never surface.

Right now, Thunder and his team of high dollar Attorneys are working to stop the leaks in the dam. If Thunder has any hope of remaining involved with the Patriots at any level the bleeding must end and this whole fiasco must go away. If more damaging dirty laundry comes out proven to be fact, the NFL could recommend that Thunder go to a nursing home and for Jonathan to take over complete control of the Patriots.

So it’s been 5 days and we don’t have any legitimate reporter even mentioning this “story” at all.
Was sort of thinking the same thing. I think it's time to shut this down and let it drop off, otherwise, we're contributing to something that doesn't appear to have any "smoke" attached to it yet. If that changes, I'll open this back up.
