When you act with desperate intentions you set your team back in the future. I don’t think our backs are against any wall.
Would it be nice to have AJ. Yes. We could get Diggs for no compensation if we feel the need. Our receiving corpse is competitive right now just not great. I am all in on AJ just not at the desperate cost
Have you told Wolfe and Vrabel your thoughts ? Just kidding.

But in reality, you may not want a 1st round pick to go the other way, but what the Pats are willing to pay vs what fans want, may be two different things.

We will see. If they get AJ and give up a 1st then I will cheer him on. I am nothing more than a potted plant in that room. Just my thoughts on what I think he’s worth. I’ve been wrong many times

Jaylon Waddle (1st and 3rd) and DJ Moore (2nd) may cause this potential trade to derail.

Both guys are younger, but more importantly have multiple years left on their contracts. You’re not just trading for the player, you’re also trading for their contract.

Brown’s older and if they want to keep him beyond this year he’ll have to rework his deal. Which they should do, they can spread his cap charge out and kick some down the road.

Brown is probably aware this is the last team and contract he’ll have. He should sign a reasonably team friendly deal if he wants to win and post big receiving number to propel him into the HOF.

Waddle is one year and change younger and Moore is older at 29.

We will see what happens - word is the Eagles continue to push for a 1st rounder. I'd do a 2nd with Boutte thrown in to the trade as there's some indication the Eagles are interested, although even if we got Brown and kept him, Boutte would likely be higher on the depth chart here compared to Philly.

I guess the question becomes what they could trade Boutte for if he's not in the Brown deal. While I like him and other teams like Atlanta (where Alex Van Pelt is familiar with him) and the Commanders could be interested, I don't see us getting more than a 4th round pick for a guy on the last year of his contract.

I'd guess the math on Brown is that he's actually on a decent contract (yes, getting as much as Diggs was meant to get last year when they cut him but he's younger and can stretch the field more than Diggs)

I'd just prefer them keep their #1 pick and take back Diggs and keep Boutte if all else fails.

Reiterate what I've said in an earlier post, not worth a 1st round pick.

If we were only a WR away then it makes sense, but we don't have the depth and overall talent to get rid of a 1st round pick for a WR who is on the wrong side of his prime years.

Last year's run was similar to the Commanders run the previous year. Everything fell into place for us just like it did for them. If we have to deal with injuries like the Commanders did the following year and with a first place schedule, we could realistically be picking in the top 10. Is AJ worth a top 10 pick? Hell no. It would be a disaster for us.

I don’t care, I can’t stand it!! On a serious note, this whole AJ Brown and a dangled carrot story is old and whether we get him or not I’ll be glad when it’s over. Unless they cave for a first which I’ll be slightly pissed.

I don't think Waddle is better than Brown, but you factor in age and lack of knee problems, Waddle is worth more in a trade.

And the DJ Moore trade was Moore and fifth rounder for the Bills' second rounder.

Two years each on their contracts. Wi the the rising cost of WR’s an old contract on a stud WR is value.

I do think Waddle is better than Brown.

I do think Waddle is better than Brown.
Waddle is also much cheaper from an AAV standpoint than Brown is with the signing bonus removed and left with the Dolphins. This increased his market value. Brown costs more money and also only really wants to play in NE, both of which depress his market. The fact that teams had to wait until 6/01 to acquire him also didn’t help.

Is there such a thing in the NFL as trading for a conditional pick? For example, Pats give up first round pick but only if it's pick 15 or later. If it's an early pick, then a second and a late round pick.

If it takes a first, forget it. A second is ore than they should pay, but I could live with it.
Philly is desperate.

Not sure, but that would be kind of confusing. If the condition is the Eagles get a 1st round pick only if the Pats finish 15th or better, then what would the Eagles get back? Are saying if the Pats finish below the top 15 teams, then the Eagles automatically get their 2nd round pick?

The easier way as it's been done before is based on the players production and/or how many games he's available for.

I'm beginning to think that for Hiowie the key to the compensation on this trade is the term "First Round" I think we all believe that Brown is NOT worth a first round pick in any year due to his age and chronic knee issues. So to make Philly happy we have to give the PERCEPTION of giving them a first round pick, yet not give them the VALUE of a first round pick and that is why putting it in a future year, like 28-30 might work and/or bringing something back like a 3rd or 4th would as well. They get to say they got a first, and we get the talent for his true value and fair price.

It is funny how he is regarded as being a "genius GM" but also seems to conduct his deals based on making sure they "look like" he fleeced someone else. Like he is more worried about appearing smart than actually doing smart business.
