Player Signing Patriots Sign OT James Hudson III

This guy is much worse than very bad. I watched him for years in Cleveland. He is a total waste of time and I hope his acquisition is not a deterrent to drafting a tackle.
And even back then, he was a $1 mil a season guy and played like one.

I'm not sure why the Giants felt they should give him $6 million last year.

It seems like he played his way to the bench as soon as he got his guaranteed cash. Hopefully the Pats don't pay anything upfront.

There are 2 kinds of camps bodies IMO

#1 the camp bodies you throw in to learn and hope they can be something
#2 the camp bodies you throw in cause you need people who can allow the young guys on your team to learn.

He is the 2nd type. He has been in the league. He knows the position. He won't need any coaching. He can do the thing at a steady 3rd string level consistently. This allows the rookies who you hope can be something to learn. 1 guy who makes chaotic mistakes and ruins the whole damn thing on occasion is manageable. Everyone being those guys means the system entirely breaks down.

I think people who say just have a bunch of high upside guys on the back end of your 90 man roster sometimes don't consider without structure there can be no efficient learning for anyone.

In that context this is a boring but likely needed signing. As you know they will be bringing in more young OL guys who they will need to focus on.

Oh it's this guy. Vrabel does say he likes "violent hands".

I remember that Dallas game. I could not believe what I was seeing. I was screaming to take him out of the game. I thought the guy was having a mental breakdown. I also think I had money on the game lol

Not sure the NFL has any "terrible" athletes. Just players who don't have the proper motivation, coaching, brains, and talent to be successful at that level.
Nah, some UPS delivery men slip through.

BB wouldn’t or would have done this. Pick the path that triggers you the most and let’s duke it out
This is ********, everyone knows that he would not have brought in a OL who is unhinged and is a penalty machine. Ok your turn

This was meant as a joke, sometimes my sarcasm typing sucks

Camp body/project, guy they will try to develop to compete for a backup swing tackle job.

Vederian Lowe sucked 2 years ago, then last year he was serviceable as a backup LT. So I have faith this staff can polish him up a bit if he has any talent.
Total Sgreement! Vederian Lowe looked incredibly, historically terrible. I was 100% convinced he was unplayable. Then, when he had to play, he was at least a “meh” back-up.
So, while I am far from excited, I knew at this stage most signings will be bottom of the roster competition.

Yep, this is one of those... hey, maybe they put it together this year... signings. No big loss if he doesn't make it. Could turn it around and surprise us all.

People are judging this guy on four plays in one game. Yes, they were awful plays, but I want to see more of his film before I judge him. And most of the problems in these plays can be fixed with good coaching.

Remember Lowe having a ton of false starts in 2024? I don’t remember any when he filled in for Campbell for four games last year.

This guy can play both sides and is a road grader. Good coaching might turn him into a good or great swing tackle and maybe even a future starter on the right side of the line if he is like last year’s free agents who came in with low expectations and turned into solid starters like Bradbury or Chaisson.

That’s what you get for betting the G-Men lol only kiddin

Seems like the 91st man on the 90 man roster. Might be a decent practice squad body
Lots of players on a90-man shouldn’t and won’t make the PS,same as most teams.

This puts a different light compared to that Dallas clip with all the penalties.
Seems like a serviceable possibility to fight for a back up role in camp. A JAG.

BUT I will remind you that over 90% of rosters are made up of JAGs. To win you need those guys to be capable and consistent.

Hudson was given an opportunity to compete for a role one of 90 competing for 53 spots. Here's hoping he's one of those no name signings, like Tonga and Durden, who end up turning into real contributors come November.

They weren’t really awful plays. Smacking the guy upside the head was dumb, but I like the attitude. I love that he jumped offsides but kept going carrying out the play, he was focused on his job, just jumped early every player jumps offsides.
Nothing in that clip tells me he sucks

Wow. I misread that as Patriots sign Jordan Hudson. Thought that would make for an interesting training camp.
