The value was purely in forcing other teams to change things up when they played the Patriots.

Secretly, I bet Belichick respected the teams that DIDN'T change even more.

He should withdraw his name from future consideration.

The NFL would be forced to induct 'Chad Masters' next year.

Backstory: Belichick never signed off on allowing EA sports to use his likeness for Madden, they would create random coaches to fill the void - Chad Masters being one.

It's like the baseball HOF. Only one guy has ever been unanimous because even when there is a no brainer, it becomes about people starting to use their votes to help at risk guys.

For instance, Belichick's far more deserving than Roger Craig. But Craig's been eligible since 1998 and has been waiting and we are going to approach a point where if he doesn't get in soon, people who didn't watch him are going to start becoming voters and he might never get in. Another scenario is that Kraft getting passed over for so many years meant people might have been unwilling to give two slots of the 3 to people from the Patriots. So by passing over him for so long some people who wanted Kraft might have made a decision that he was going to be the Patriots vote for this cycle. Then there's people like Ken Anderson who waited 30 years.

That’s not correct if it’s the case. 1st ballott is a badge of honor and respect.
To say the guy who deserves first ballot can’t get in because someone who hasn’t gotten in 14 other times is on their last chance is just not the ideology a HALL OF FAME should have.
Not to mention that they can induct 3 of the 5.
Over 20% said Bill Belichick doesn’t belong in the hall of the sport he dominated more than any other coach ever, at least in the SB era. There is no explanation that excuses that.

I agree 100%. Kraft is desperate to get in. Any influence he has, he is going to use on behalf of himself, not to keep someone else out.

If you watched that, you know it's possible.

New England media reported that Kraft blackballed Belichick with Atlanta.

& finally, I'm waiting on the Patriots to make a statement. Any other organization would.

Let me add this bit coming from Belichick prior to the Hall of Fame vote:

”Congratulations to the other finalists Roger Craig, Kenny Anderson, L.G. Greenwood, and of course, Robert Kraft. I hope to see all of the deserving Patriots selected this year.”

He said he's a YES vote, but his question is weird, since the whole story about a pressure campaign from Polian came about NOT through speculation, but an ESPN reporter speaking to voters in the room.

Myers should be directing his question not at the fans, but he should be getting to the bottom of the story.

He's a journalist, after all.
 
Have the newly "elected" been notified of their acceptance?
Does Kraft know?
Did the other non-invitees get advance word like BB?

Belichick was in Madden 2005 and previous Madden's, before he left the Coach union. Then it was NE Coach and then fake names.

I agree with you. I'm just saying that sort of thing does happen. Baseball is a much more transparent process overall and because of that we know that voters play games based on if they think they can toss their votes around to help someone else. And yes 20% seems egregious, but it's realistically just 10 guys that might been a mix of "I don't like him, I want to punish him, I'm voting for Kraft so I won't do two Patriots, I want to help Craig/Anderson more and Bill isn't at risk".

It was absolutely a mistake for him not to be in and they are all so embarrassed nobody wants to go on record with their votes and there is waffling.
