Peter King -One on One with Brady

Rather than just looking at the Brady interview, I'd like to point to something from Kraft:

“My hope and prayer is number one, he play for the Patriots. Or number two, he retires,” the Patriots owner told NBC Sports’ Peter King of his 42-year-old quarterback. “He has the freedom to decide what he wants to do and what’s in his own best personal interest.”

So, if Kraft is being honest, and not just playing to the media, there should be no problem here. Pay Brady what he wants, for how long he wants, bring in the kind of offensive players that can help him win, stop ditching guys because you don't like what they texted, and "let's go".

Brady doesn't need to imply or state something for me to believe it's the case. Common sense would tell you that after easily the worst offensive outing of his career Brady isn't going to want to work just for a repeat of it.
Common sense says he is part of a team that has been enormously successful and he isn’t the type to take his ball and run home crying when it gets difficult. They just put the best defense in the nfl out there for him and he needed 14 points. A single second half score. Just don’t get shot out. To think he is sitting around like a prima Dona blanimg everyone else and crying like a game day thread poster that everyone else sucks is ridiculous.

I think kraft is saying I hope he plays for my price or retires.

Here’s the sense I get. If Brady wants to come back and the Pats are part of what he would consider, Kraft will make it happen. If he doesn’t come back to the Patriots, it’s because he never wanted to

Give me one example where he has blamed the weapons.

Brady’s not gonna throw anybody under the bus. That’s the type of guy he is but i am sure he knew the writing was on the wall with these guys every week. The passing game wasn’t getting any better.

I would love brady back but in order for us to make other moves he has to help us here. He has already 13 million in his pocket. Has a wife that almost has half a billion in net worth.

Some of you have to realize Bill has to put a team together and not just load up on top players for Brady's sake.

There's a big difference between "load up on top players for Brady's sake" and what Brady had to work with in the passing game this year.

If we’re willing to take Krafts comments at face value.

That's my guess, as well, which is why I mentioned the idea of Kraft playing to the media. If Kraft was actually serious about keeping Brady without screwing around, the Patriots could have dumped a nice 3-4 year deal on his lap last year.

From what we hear on sports radio, to what Kraft has said, to what we saw as a contract last year, it seems as if the skids are being greased, and the attempt to frame this as "It's what Tom wanted" has begun.

I think it’s probably the correct approach.
At 43 you already have 13 mill dead money lingering and the chance of injury increases every year against a very short term best case.
I think the contract has to be team friendly because it carries a lot of risk. I also don’t believe there is a big market and maybe no market of places he would want to play.

Again, we are talking about Brady going somewhere else.....is he suddenly going to start showing up at PTA’s?

which WR group will understand how Brady does things? Which offensive coordinator will just hand an empty playbook for Brady to fill out

I’m actually very interested in seeing him play somewhere else......kinda like driving by a car wreck where you can’t help but look
Any team that wants him is rolling out the red carpet. He'd arguably be the greatest FA ever.

You can't be serious abt the OC part. Brady will bring his playbook & hand it to the OC or they'll get a new one. No questions asked.

There isn't a OC in the league 1/4 as valuable as Brady.

If he does go to LAC & plays 16 I'd bet 2K he surpasses 4000/25 TD or 2/1 TD/INT ratio.

That’s bs. You can’t say he is pissed off and feels let down and thinks the franchise stinks then say he’s too nice to admit when called out that he has never uttered such a word.

He did that this year with the best defense in the league and is home.
He’ll be 43. He won’t be paid like he’s 33.

I think it's asinine. So we're never going to find a middle ground here.

The age excuse has been getting employed since as far back as 2014 (“Well we all know Tom’s age and contract status.”), so it's well past time to stop with it. You pay the man. If he craps out, that's no different, at this point, than what's been happening with much younger players (think Wentz, Newton, etc...).

Is it now?

Because I just watched an entire season where he *****ed, moaned and looked beside him self at the **** he was expected to work with.
Please link one quote from him where he said he blames the weapons.

So what is an example of how much you would pay him?

Brady didn't throw his teammates under the bust to the media that I noticed.

He was also clearly frustrated with the team being #2 in most dropped passes, and him having to be #1 in throwaways because of botched protection and/or imminent coverage sacks.

These are separate things that people seem to be mixing up willy-nilly.

He did that this year with the best defense in the league and is home.

Brady is absolutely getting paid.

Again he'll arguably be the most valuable FA in the history of the league. The GOAT QB. Fans are spoiled beyond belief here. 25 other teams would do w/e it took to get him in there. Esp ones that are ready to roll. LAC, Chi, Tenn etc.

So what is an example of how much you would pay him?

Whatever it takes, for as long as is needed to be happy with the cap hit. Brady wants to play until he's 45, so you can easily spread out the cap hit.
