let’s say I conceded the point that he’s a run first QB.

he would still have a passer rating of 109+. Pretty good for any QB

Got ya.

The thread is about injuries to a running QB, not if Jackson can throw (which is still up in the air if you take away his amazing running ability).

Some posters gave Russell Wilson, Steve Young etc as examples, but they were clearly pass first.

Jackson is not.

by what agreed upon criteria?

Imagine spending countless hours in a football forum. Reading, watching football & thinking Jackson is a run first QB.

I'd give it up as a hobby honestly. So clueless it's not funny & obviously haven't watched a second of Jackson in college or pros.

It’s kind of hard to argue “run first” QB’s vs QB’s who are “throw first” but can run seeing out off the top of my head Jackson and Vick are the only two “run first” QB’s I can think of.

I don't understand how this is relevant to my post.

Are you saying Baltimore does not use Jackson differently that the other quarterbacks in my post?

That's what makes him a run first QB, until he's not.
You don't know what your talking abt lol. This sounds abt as casual as it gets. Par for the course around here.

Oh no.

Jackson wasn't a one read QB or run first QB in college or pros. Not even close. Not even a little bit.

Intelligent post. Very insightful.

This is what you wrote & you want to talk abt insight?
"Are you saying Baltimore does not use Jackson differently that the other quarterbacks in my post?

Fine then, use your words. Explain how he's a run first QB.

I don't think that he is. What I am saying is there is really no sample size for "run first" QBs as Jackson is being called.

I don't watch college so I don't see any of the players until they get to the pros. Am I supposed to watch?

I did hear about Jackson coming to the Pats for a visit, but that was years ago.

Was Jackson a top college player?

I love how some are acting as if there’s some kind of agreed upon definition of a run first QB.

without some agreed upon definition this entire debate is useless and a waste.

jackson is running that offense about as efficiently as possible both running and throwing. End of story.

won the heisman and was a finalist the following year. The year he didn’t win he was actually statistically better than when he did

It will be end of story if the kid does get hurt running the ball. The Ratbirds are lucky that he made it this far.

“Lamar on IR” sounds good

I would not state that Lamar is a "run first QB" however he does run quite a bit more than most QB's. He is very fast and has over 1,000 yards rushing. They appear to be running an old fashioned single wing offense.

On the other hand remember last year when the Ravens still had Joe Flacco and their coaches would run some sort of goofy 2 QB plays?

This is what people don't understand w all due respect.

The fact that he's running designed plays, scrambling etc doesn't make him a run first QB at all.

He has the ability so he does. Very different than someone who has 1 read & takes off. I'm not even trying to be a DH but people can't have thin skin when they simply don't know what they're talking abt.

Since college hes been going through progressions like a clock.

Too much opinion & feelings w no facts or info around here. Kid ran a variation of the EP & ignorant posters still pretended he didn't.

One of the best, most dynamic QBs to ever play college football.

*edit*
He has a ton to work on but his peaks are insanely high. Stuff you can't teach or prepare for. Has learned & run 2 different offenses like a veteran. Including a variation of the EP we run. He stepped in mid-season & lead his team to the playoffs after a very bad start w Flacco at QB. He's improved big time in one of the most important years for a QB (2-3) & is a legit MVP candidate.

He was one of the highest graded QBs for me last year so its nice to see him doing well from that standpoint. That said he's another grade for me (I grade prospects every year) & no different from any other prospect for me.

It's just annoying listening to some of the stuff said abt him in a football forum. Opinions are great but it would be nice if some did some research before making blanket statements. Those same posters couldn't break down the Gatorade jug on the sidelines but think its ok to say this QB cant read a defense or is a one read QB etc. Obviously not directed at you. Sorry for the mini rant

With all due respect, please re-read my post:
