also, not to arouse bad memories or what not...

but who, when they first glimpsed the box score, thought of the pats colts AFC game?

it was the first thing that came to my mind after seeing 16

We're being about 120% sarcastic on the whole 'blame the punter' thing. If you're not okay with that, though, then I'm sure we could also get people on board with blaming hte #3 CB for no particular reason

good game everyone

dont blame the punter, read the tough loss thread in the team forum (on goalline)

i would put most of the blame on the D, with focus on the secondary, for giving up the game winning catch

p.s. who wants to take a guess at how long cason's arms are?
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5196955

the secondary had 5 interceptions; seems like an odd group to blame. As someone who has 2 starters on the D-Line, I'd be the first to single them out instead, assuming that there's any reason to even single anyone out. Personally, I don't think there is. The secondary might be the single biggest reason not named Wes Welker why we beat Brisbane, so I don't see any point in piling on them now for giving up one big play. We won as a team, so let's go ahead and lose as one too.

lol, i know that...i was just making sure others who didnt know it and get it didnt get too upset

also, sure, its wrong to single anyone out, or a group out....

lets focus on next seaosn (after analyzing this game of course)

my problem is...with the issues the team has (and i see a good number of them, which many can be addressed in teh offseason...) i dont see us contenting for HF next season

and that i do not like at all

Yeah, losing 3 games all season by less than 10 total points is really a major problem. What with our team doing so much worse than last year and all.

As long as the majority of people are active and the level disparity on our roster isn't at a point where the people who are spending flex points are getting screwed by those who aren't I'm not going to be signing random players who will either want to start or will be backups just long enough to find another team and they'll screw our morale with their departures in the process.

I'm not sitting on my laurels as an owner here but I'd rather compete with a friendly bunch of guys than with a bunch of random ****s.

Fnord has a point. We didn't make a patsfans.com team expecting to win a championship every year. We don't make people boost, we don't go crazy about our gameplans and advanced tactics... we just have fun with what we have.

The fact that we've gone into the playoffs, and deeper each time, isn't an indicator to me that we need to go all Bill Belichick and start fixing the minor 'problems' we have that will supposedly get us a championship. What if we 'fix the problems' and then get bounced in round 1 next year? Who do we blame then?

I'm sticking with the punter.

Also, major props to Vernon Barkley for the season he had and the awards he was given for it:

Season 2, Oceania Pro League - Most Interceptions (14)
Season 2, Oceania Pro League - 2nd Most Pass Deflections (56)
Season 2, Oceania Pro League - 3rd Most Fumbles Forced (6)

im not saying change up the team, and do a mass-exodus project

but there are 2 or 3 improtant spots which need to be either filled, or upgraded

i dont expect to win the championship every season, but i do expect to be in contention for HFA every year, and if i had to put money down, i would say next season, we will make the playoffs, but not have HFA...

this team is really, really, really good, i would love to keep it that way

p.s. its a lot more fun when you have winning seasons, then when u dont (or so i would imagine)

By the way, can I play WR or HB for the next scrimmage?

Find me a spot filled by a inactive starter who isn't flexing and I'll bring on a random internet dude to start in his place. Until that happens is it really cool to demote someone who only joined this game to play with patsfans.com posters and who has flexed as much as they can? Until we have a situation where we have a huge level disparity between guys like yourself who flex as much as possible every season and guys who flex less I'm loathe to change anything. I think we're a season or two away from the point when we'll have to do that. I don't think we can sustain a wholly patsfans.com team in perpetuity but as long as we can I'm gonna.

As far as depth I dunno if you are on another team or not but it's really, really, really, really hard to find someone who is willing to let their guy be a backup. I'm sure there are people out there but hell if I am going to spend the time it would take to find them because that's a lot of 'hey join my team' emails I'd have to send to find the one guy in 1k who is OK with being the backup QB for a team he doesn't have any connection to.

I dunno what to tell you, I'm not blind to the fact that we don't have L18's in every position.

So, I know I'm not super-active in the discussions about the team...but, I really like what we have as is. We have a friendly group of guys, probably the best defense in the league and no squabbles. I understand the value of being as competitive as possible, but we are a championship calibur team. That, and it's without the dudes who look like the numa numa guy complaining about playing time and tactics. That's the last thing I think we all want to deal with.

Also, to the rest of the guys on the d-line and linebackers. I was doing some research last week into what makes a better pass-rusher or a player that gets off of blocks well. I read that building up your blocking makes your players much better at getting off of blocks. I've been training it when I can afford to energy wise and have noticed a significant difference in the play of one Chris Boynkins. Just throwing it out there.

Goddamn punters.

I'll agree though, I really like this team, what we have, and who we have done it with. This game wouldn't be half as fun if I were on some random team with people that I have little in common with.

I really like the way the team is being managed, I like how competitive we are etc.

I think its too late in the cycle, but I'd be more than happy to make another player, boost him up as much as I can, and get him into a backup role - but he'd be 5th level or so early next season, and thats not a great backup. Like Fnord said, its next to impossible to get a level 14 guy in as a backup only player - thats just the way it is, even if he would be getting 40+ snaps a game.

Alright guys, keep you all amticipating my post on our team forum after I get out of work tonight. But I have found a glitch in the game we can exploit and stay competitive for the long haul, when alot of these top teams go down... As early as two seasons from now, definitely 3. Post more later!

Oh and Welker is more then willing to get a better receiver in here so he can play the slot and against the 3rd best corner on the opposing team rather then the number 1 guy!

I'm assuming you're being slightly facetious about this 'glitch' but if there is a glitch you're probably best advised to not post about how to exploit it you know...in a subforum on their website.

One thing to do if you're thinking long term is in the next season or 2 start building guys to take over when there is the mass player retirement after season 10. That would allow you to have top-level players even as some of the first guys retire. Unless you can transfer points from your guy once he retires to a new guy, then its no worry.

I think this will be the impetus I need to start a new guy now

I've got a great LB, I think I'll try for a CB/S next

So every player gets retired after 10 seasons? Huh.. didn't know that.

No. There is no forced retirement.

From what I understand, after 10 seasons, your skills start to decline.

Also, as far as secondary depth goes, I finally just bit the bullet and flexed up my last player for season 2, and gave him some custom gear. He's a FS, so he could go a long ways towards addressing our secondary depth. His contract ends day 15 of season 3, but I may be able to convince the owner of the team to release me:

Btw, I know I spelled "Indestructible" wrong. I was hammered when I made him, FWIW

Hey guys, I realize I'm wayyyy late to this party but I made a FS that is on a CPU team now. He's only level 2 but is practicing hard to improve . DOn't know if you need another dude or if he needs to gain some more XP before stepping up to the big leagues but I'd love to join the team if you need an extra FS. He is Ty Dusso on the Virginia Miners. Any advice is also welcome in terms of levelling him up, etc. I need something to get me thru the complete lack of Pats news these days!
