There is a guy who posts on the ESPN message board every now and then
that claims to be a New England Insider. He has great information & I want
to share it with you.

A couple years ago... there was a poster with the name MNICE109 who
alerted us of Red Sox trades before they happened. He stopped posting
when he became famous on the board...

Well here is the recap of the draft from NEInsider

1. Mayo will be a superstar. He is super smart with skills off the charts for our system. A NAtional Honor Society kid, graduated from college, humble but driven, and a film rat.

2. As I said on draft day believe me when I re-iterate that Wheatley is also potentially special. Another kid with off the charts intangibles and hands down the best change of direction from back pedal of any DB in the draft. Forget about his height. he played an entire game after a metal rod "broke" in his wrist. Super smart kid and a really good kid. Great man coverage and understands defense.

3. Crable is my favorite in the draft. No kid has ever come from tougher circumstances and made it. Another very smart kid. If you want a reason why Loyd Carr needed to be fired at Michigan this kid is it. A boatload of talent coached "down" . he has the ideal size, speed, and length to play outside and he wants to be the best. He will get the coaching he deserves here.

4. O'Connell was just too good to pass up. 4.61 40 and arguably at 6-5 the best pure football player at QB. You have no idea how bad that team he played on was until you see game film. Might be the worst college O-Line I have ever seen and he made big plays. Josh went and visited with him in california and do not be surprised if we have a few packages for him during the year. Kevin is a big, fast, smart, and tough kid.

5. Wilhite is interesting. Most of the staff saw him when they visited Auburn to look at the other cornerback and he was the one that impressed us the most. He is a little guy with a chip on his shoulder and he plays that way. Good kid but he will back down from nobody and that includes O-line guys. Super aggressive and very physical with receivers. The 4.51 time I saw posted for him is way off. He can run sub 4.4 but that isn't what is important. Like Wheatley this kid can transition from the back pedal as smooth as silk. the kid got a lot of penalties in college for being over-aggressive but that is ok. rather have them that way than passive. Capers loves this kid by the way.

6. Slater is another favorite of mine. Never seen a kid with this much raw talent misused at a major univeristy like UCLA in my entire life in this business. What a shame for this young man but it is really good for us. 1st or at worst second round physical talent and super smart. Can play CB, WR, special teams etc. recruited heavily by USC but went to UCLA. Watch this kid closely because he should blossum here. Capers wants him at corner so we will see.

thank you for sharing this. i liked wheatley a lot when they drafted him, and had a gut feeling they were going to choose him when they had him in for a visit. I like his leadership. I hope he brings to the table what Asante Samuel did not - being a shut down corner.

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

I believe that this information is real. Let's hope his predictions come true.

I do think his analysis of Wilhite's agility is a bit off. He has an unusually thick base for a cb and seems to drag just a bit when he flips his hips. Just enough to get him beat and cancel out his great intangibles. We'll see, I'm no professional and I really hope I'm wrong.

Crable has a lot of strength work to do on his lower half before I can get excited, although I am optimistic.

Mayo has all the measurables and intangibles. It's just about experience and health. Rooting for a young Lb to reach his potential is kind of like rooting for a young rb. It's all about staying healthy. Durability is a talent.

I feel the same way about Wheatley. His agility is special, his speed elite, his hands excellent. Durability is the only question.

If McDaniels can fix O'Connell's mechanics and make him more accurate, he will be a steal.

But if you can't get excited after reading that post, you're hardly human.

Not to nitpick or suggest NEInsider is a fraud, but I dont believe Mayo graduated college. I am almost certain he came out a year early.

He did graduate.

Off the field, Mayo, who graduated with his degree in sports management (with a minor in business) in 3 1/2 years, is a choir boy - literally. He sang in the choir at the Zion Prospect Baptist Church in Yorktown, where his grandfather is the pastor, until he left for college.

"Off the field, Mayo, who graduated with his degree in sports management."

If you've read all of this guy's posts, he sure is convincing. Knowing details, like Josh McDaniels going out to visit with O'Connell... they could be made up, but they're too consistent with what we expect from Belichick's staff and what we see from the outside.

If this guy was a fraud, he wouldn't be disciplined enough not to post more often. The reason NEInsider doesn't post much is because he probably doesn't want to draw too much attention to himself. Makes sense. I just hope he's smart enough not to post from a Patriots' office computer.

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

Read this paragraph here and tell me this does not sound like what Coach Belichick said right after the draft:
Just as a reminder please remember our draft board is based on players that fit our schemes on offense and defense. Everyone would be amazed how different our draft board looks verses the so-called experts. The top pick in a draft might not even be on our board. Why draft someone that cannot play your style of ball??

We will take whoever the best players are, and try to manage a team as best we can. Sometimes it’s pro free agents or trades or you find other ways to fill out the roster, but it’s hard to force guys. If they can’t do what you want them to do I don’t think there is much point on forcing them in there and then be disappointed with them and a year or two later you still don’t have anything. I know it looks good on the draft grading charts. Need a guard, draft a guard. Need a corner, draft a corner. Need a tight end, draft a tight end and everybody gets an “A.” But two years later if those players really aren’t performing in those positions then what do you have?

NEInsider is... Bill Belichick!

My bad - clearly he graduated. But that makes it interesting then that he is always classified as a junior. I'm guessing they just dub him a junior because he had 1 year of eligibility left? And that he would have to have been a graduate student in order to keep playing ball?

Anyway, I'm sure no one else really cares, but I am just curious about his junior designation, and find it odd that he is deemed to have come out early. It would make little sense for a first round prospect to forgo the NFL for a year to work on a Masters or get a PhD.

On a separate note, that speaks quite well of him that he got a degree in 3.5 years while playing big time football. Clearly he is an individual who knows how to study and manage his time / life. I would bet at least 90% of the rest of the draft class dont have those skills, and their educations were a joke. Anyway, it seems more and more that he is a high character individual who will have no problem adapting to the NFL/

Who knows if this guy is a phony...surely not I. but I do have to admit, I don't care because I enjoyed reading his comments & they got me pumped up & optimistic.

no one ever really knows about draft picks until they start playing...if they play. So why not read a positive spin for once? After all, I'm just a fan, not a shareholder worrying about an investment.

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

The language that is used reminds me of a miracle hair loss cure advertisement. It's not language a person on BB's staff would use. Perhaps one of their kids.

Does that make me an insider? I read it in the paper too.

Seriously, the insider is Scott Pioli. Only the person who selected them could think every single pick was a work of genius.

If their's a market for this, I could put a Patriots hat on and read back last weeks newspapers too.

Just let me know, I'll be totally sincere.:D

NEInsider = Myra Kraft after a few wine coolers.

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

This guy is so obviously a fraud it's not funny. He makes Celtic Thug seem like Deep Throat.

Celtic Thug had people begging for him long after it was clear that he was a fraud. It's all about information.

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

I really do not care if or not..that will come out later over time..I like what he said..makes sense..pumps up the optimism..,,,I wonder what is take is on the UDFAs??

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

Slightly concerned that a guy who supposedly is well placed and intelligent can't spell the word 'blossom'.....

Re: NEInsider post on the ESPN message board.

Without regard for his credentials, it is a warm and fuzzy article.. wonder if he grades the draft.. heard he would give the Pats an A++.. things are going to get very boring until the next mini camp.
