Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

If true, it's $750k per year more than Witherspoon.

$1m more guaranteed.

Now we wait for the signing bonus.

Effectively, it's the same exact deal that Witherspoon got.

I never thought the Patriot punditry would be right that they should have done a bigtime deal with him last spring, but if this is true, in the end they were right. Witherspoon's deal forced the Patriots into a corner.

Always give your player the deal immediately if you want to sign him because it'll cost you.

Now up to Gonzo to ball out which I expect he will
Good news before the year starts elite CBs dont grow on trees

Just for my understanding: Is this an extension? So he plays the next two years on his current deal (plus 5th year option) and the new contract starts in 2028 or does this contract start now?

It's ****ing pathetic. The Krafts are genuinely shameless. I hope they're roasted the entire broadcast on Wednesday for being cheap.

And there it is. WRONG AGAIN. It's like watching a 3 year old have temper tantrum after temper tantrum simply because they didn't get what they wanted fast enough. At least you can take solace in the fact that your streak of stupidity is fully intact, and it's very doubtful you will ever break it, as stupid very rarely has a moment of clarity.

Yes, the current deal but with a signing bonus up front and guaranteed money.

Wonder if Vrabel's involvement in these negotiations helped seal this deal?
Without regard glad to see that this is taken care of before the season.
Interestingly it is currently 2:09 AM and the Globe just reported this 3 minutes ago, someone burned the midnight oil to resolve this.

Shut up you insufferable slug. The is the idiocy of the troll NE fans who can't be happy it got done and have to add some misery because you are never happy unless you complain. You have no idea if the Pats were backed into a corner or who caved. Maybe they just both met in the middle. You were just spouting off something about $38 million per and trade him. Seriously, its just embarrassing to be on the same forum with people like you. frikin clown show.

Good, can we move the fk on now?
Not until we trade him because he’s got character issues.

I fully expect another forty or fifty pages of heated discussion by game time, bemoaning the price, the terms (I’ll start: why not five years?), the fact that he wasn’t traded for being such a difficult player, and of course how cheap Bob Kraft is for giving him such a pittance.

SMH.

It’s 11:00 PM in Seattle.

Does anybody know where his agent is based? Think he might be visiting Seattle to watch two of his highest paid clients play?

I had to watch Jaws and Saturday Night Fever to make this happen... I'm sticking to it!

SMH @ folks thinking Gonzo was going to accept a deal last Spring.

He knew a deal last Spring would be less, so not accepting it would be putting more money in his pocket eventually.

It takes both sides to make a deal.

Why is this concept so hard?
