Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

Why would they count what was a season ending innjury in his rookie year as proof of anything overall about his durability when he's played in 88 percent of the games in the following TWO years?
Because when a team is thinking of doing a contract over $100m for a player they will look at and consider everything.

He is. What makes you say he isn't. What did you see that made you think otherwise? He's actually Gilmore, since Revis was always afraid to tackle.
Revis didn't have to Tackle the QB's knew better. Listen I would give Gonzo probably 2 Mill more than D Whiterspoon take it or leave it. Do not give him the Moon...He has an injury history. IF they give him that absurd contract about him wanting to be the highest paid: even two years from now...that will be a costly mistake. Yeah and I Iove Gonzo the player but not that much no pun.

I get it Tommy because he's a Patriot: but I'm sure You thought Sauce who's better than Gonzo ain't worth Two First Rounders.
"Sauce is better than Gonzo"

All you need is another "Henderson is Crap" and you're going to be pushing one of your top-10 all-timers for dumbass takes.

You'd be surprised to learn that ALL the top CBs have an injury history. Stingley, Surtain, Witherspoon, all injured.

I'll thank you for leaving Sauce Gardner off that least, despite his far more recent season-ending history.

He hasn't belonged on a top CB list since he fell off a cliff in year 2. Kendrick Bourne routinely ate that guy's lunch.

I am not starting a new thread over an unsubstantiated rumor. Posting this hear and waiting for better sources. I see nothing else out there so it could be fake.

It was posted an hour ago and still no confirmation, so I’m assuming this is fake. But we shall see.

I think Gonzo is blowing smoke: he's Top 5 I wouldn't put him #1 overall *sorry PatsFans*. I would offer him a contract same as CB Devon Witherspoon. If he balks I'm Drafting a CB in First Round in 27.
OK, so then OL and DE and LB continue to be a weakness as you draft for a position which you now have covered and of course you don't even have a first rounder in 2028 and by that time AJ Brown will be old anyway and you just pissed away 3 seasons through bad strategy and bad planning.
This is what drove me nuts during the BB era. He’d create additional needs when others had been neglected. If Gonzo ends up getting traded, we’ll have an unnecessary need at CB when the OL, edge and LB need to be addressed.
I don't think Gonzo is Prime Revis sorry.
My only gripe with Gonzalez is that he hasn’t faced much elite competition. The Pats also played a lot of zone. These players in this era will defend an elite player for a couple plays and then hold up their championship belt over that. The best example is Lenoir vs JSN. Lenoir has been talking a bunch of **** saying he shuts down JSN, but barely defends him.

There was also a funny training camp story in 2009 where a CB (who probably ended up getting cut) ran stride for stride with Randy Moss on a deep passing play. He made it known to the team that he won that matchup vs Moss. Moss got so angry he said to run the same play again. CB got cooked badly.

Sure. Even if it's stupid. Which this is. And it does not mean the Pats have 'leverage' over Gonzo.

Bedard thinks something will get done this weekend or Monday. We shall see.

Yeah, that Jaxon Smith-Njigba blows.

That’s one player and exactly my point. Gonzo faced him for a short period of time and you’re handing him the championship belt. And 49ers fans say the same thing about Lenoir “locking up” JSN. Lol.

Get back to me when he faces JSN for the entire game next week. Then again, that’s if Gonzo is actually decides to play.

Gonzo has not faced many elite WR’s during his career. The most difficult games he’ll have in 2026 are against JSN opening night, Garret Wilson 2X, Metcalf, St. Brown/Williams, Justin Jefferson and Sutton/Waddle. 3 of those WR’s in bold are elite. He’ll coast for the rest of the season

By the way, Pats played zone 67% of time in zone in 2025. I guarantee you they will use this against him. Teams do that all the time in negotiations.

This Season will tell if Gonzo is truly Elite or the Best CB in Football. Our Schedule feature some of the Best WRs in the Game. I hope we have a Pass Rush.

National reporters are repeating this, local reporters like Bedard and Curran stating a deal will be reached before week 1, guess will see.
