Like I said before I think Gonzo want his cake and eat it too.

He wants the security by extending before the end of his rookie contract and he wants to be paid like he was a UFA now. My guess is he wants the majority of his guaranteed money right now in the last 2 years of his rookie contract and he wants it structured in a way where he can renegotiate a better deal in 2 years when he would have hit FA.

The Patriots wants to bump his pay for the last 2 years of his rookie deal and give him most of his guaranteed when his rookie contracts end.

Schefter says they are not giving him Witherspoon's deal, and we also heard from Bedard that they aren't giving him Stingley's deal either. If those guys have any credibility, there are only 2 possible conclusions. The Patriots don't place value on CB the way other teams do (which makes the Carlton Davis signing absolutely bizarre) or they don't think Gonzalez is as good as Stingley and Witherspoon.

These are the only 2 conclusions Gonzalez can reach, if Schefter and Bedard are right.

So he knows his team doesn't think CBs are very important (of course the signing of Davis tells him otherwise) or he knows the team doesn't think he's as good as Witherspoon and Stingley.

This explains his "frustration."

Yeah, of course, it was ok to be concerned every day after the league year started where it hasn't gotten done yet.

The good news is that he's been practicing, and hasn't done any official 'hold-out' stuff. Yet, anyway.

Revis' option was bonkers though. Everyone knew he was a 1 year rental, although he fits in that narrative.

The Pats actually have an out on him after this season. His cap number is massive in 2027 which will be 6th at his position at $30M.

I know many of you guys love him and don’t want to hear this. Like Diggs last season, I will be watching both him and Barmore like a hawk in 2026. They both will clog up the cap in 2027.

And yes, he was about to sign with the Panthers before the Patriots upped their bid. Panthers backed out completely after that.

You are allowed to be concerned, complacent, ignorant, indignant, indigent, complicit, or whatever else you want to be. No need to check in with us. How you, or we, feel about it won’t really affect things even if Kraft is currying favor with the fans about it. We just have to wait and see. If getting stirred up about it makes your life better go for it. If remaining detached makes your life better I’d recommend that, it’s my preference.

That’s all moot. Reports are Gonzo wants his own deal, not Witherspoon’s or Stingley’s.

So whatever the Pats are or are not willing to do about giving him either Witherspoon’s deal or Stingley’s is irrelevant.

It’s just muddying the waters, and any supposed conclusions based on those would be equally irrelevant.

He’s frustrated because he wants *HIS* deal and it’s not done yet.
