Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

Pats offer: 4 years, $134M ($100M guaranteed)
Gonzo: 4 years, $140M ($110M guaranteed) ?
You are presuming no increase for 2026, 2027 and around $34M AAV therafter?

My guess is Gonzo wants to be paid now and be able to renegotiate in 2 years and the Patriots wants to give him the bag at the end of his rookie contract with a bump in pay for the last 2 years of his rookie contract

Kraft is cheap.

Kraft is cheap.

Witherspoon set the benchmark by getting 59M guaranteed in the last 2 years of his rookie deal.

Gonzo wants the same thing. If not more. Patriots wants to pay him after his rookie deal.

That’s where the hold up is in my opinion. I don’t think it has anything to do about how much money he is getting but when he is getting it.

Gonzos trainer flight in a now deleted tweet had posted “trade him!”.

This story is just dragging out too long. Someone make a decision and do something!

I said the other day this has come down to language and will work its way to a signed contract.
I have seen Savage posts before

Just wait until they nickel and dime Maye next year. Always the lowest team in cash spending….well done Kraft.

What’s with the revisionist history with Gonzo all of the sudden?? Now, people are nitpicking; acting as if Gonzo gets beat routinely. He’s ELITE at the position. About as elite as you can get; especially in this era. No CB is completely shutting down every single pass, but you’d be hard pressed to find a better corner. He’s the perfect prototype at the position. He consistently wipes out any competition week in and week out. Yes, he’s given a play maybe what, two or three times in two seasons???? Lol He just masterfully shut down the best receiver in football on the biggest stage & even has a classic pose to prove it. Pay the man..Insufferable…

He was beat on both of those plays. The slant was underthrown. He was also beat on that deep ball. lt was a great recovery and the jumping dive showcases his fantastic athleticism. But the very elite corners like Revis didn't get beat like that. They made the play without having to make an incredible jumping dive because they were right there.

He's a grea corner. But I see him as a risk if the Pats are paying him as a best-in-the-league generational corner.

I don't get the Kraft is cheap comments related to this. If Pats accept the Gonzales offer and play out contract, he gets paid by Kraft the exact same as he would taking the Patriots offer. At least from rumors, the overall money is not the issue.

If they really believe Gonzales is elite, then they will have to cave and give the early injury guarantee and no roster bonus and gamble he stays healthy.

Is a guy with his injury history the guy they want to break their precedent with? Probably not and technically Gonzo has 2 more years under contract. They have some leverage.
Will Gonzo sit out to avoid injury forcing their hand or will he cave before game 1 so he gets his big money before risking injury.
Will be interesting to see what happens before Game 1.

That decision could affect future cap availability, but don't get how that relates to the cheap owner comments.

Gonzales missed 17 games due to injury, should he play 1 season for free? He owes Patriots a season, no?

Gardner missed 8 games in 4 years
Witherspoon 8 games in 3 years
Gonzales 17 games in 3 years.

If ifs were fifths, we’d all be drunk. Stop it…he made those plays. If not for him, the score would’ve been like 50-13. Also, yes all great corners get beat. All of them. Revis got beat by Stevie Johnson plenty of times. Stevie is no slouch by any stretch, but he ain’t Moss, Rice etc…He got beat by Ochocinco, Marquise Goodwin, AJ Green, Sammy Watkins, Steve Smith, Doug Baldwin, Ted Ginn Jr, Fitz, Colston, Marshall etc….Surtain, Stingley, Revis, Champ, Woodson, Peterson, Sherman, Gilmore all got beat at times, but it was very minimal. Hell, Stingley routinely gets beat by Boutte….Kayshon Boutte lol….Point is, you can count on one hand how many times Gonzo has gotten beat in 3 years. That’s remarkable in this era; in any era. Best in the league & has proven it. They’ll cave & pay him what he’s worth.
