Agreed. IF they were to trade him there, I want a 1st coming back. Thats the price you need to pay.Trading him to Houston would be idiotic. Trading him in general would be idiotic. The reason why the Pats escaped Houston was because they were missing their best WR Nico Collins and an injury on the OL with Trent Brown.
Player for player.Agreed. IF they were to trade him there, I want a 1st coming back. Thats the price you need to pay.

A potential 3rd starting from a 4th would be cutting a fat hog.Agreed. IF they were to trade him there, I want a 1st coming back. Thats the price you need to pay.
Dear god, can you imagine? He *just* signed that contract, that would be Deshawn Watson levels of dead cap they'd have to eat.Trade scenario:
HOU receives Boutte
NE receives Will Anderson Jr. + 2027 1st rounder
I’d honestly be a bit reluctant, but I’m willing to risk it..
Did Boutte just become a target for Houston?
Only if they throw in David Putney - we could use a returner.Trade scenario:

The Saints are rumored to be good this season too.And the Saints.
Front office was wise on many levels to hold their powder on Boutte as the injury bug hits (thankfully not us but that was another reason to keep him for now)
While I know talk was about a 5th round pick for him, teams may now be getting more desperate and the fact that he can be a one year rental for a really cheap price to another team whether they extend him or not. He's getting most of his money this season so he's not going to sit out - he'll be a motivated player to showcase what he can do on a team that's weak at WR
A conditional pick would be great if they still do that - the better he does the better pick we get - as long as it's for an NFC team!

Putney is not just a returner. He's an All-Pro. He's Devin Hester in his prime. Putney is older now and has lost a half-step. He still has a good season left in himOnly if they throw in David Putney - we could use a returner.
I'll adjust my take from Aug. 3 - just a bit - regarding Boutte.
It seems the last 2 days of practice have shown that Doubs is coming on strong, and looks more capable of securing the #2.
IF he stays healthy all year, and presuming Pop is the #3 in the slot - Boutte may be the #4, and not get near as much usage.
I highly doubt Boutte is in line for a deal here this offseason, so if they get a killer deal, it may be helpful to get a legit EDGE or OG/C in exchange for him. I'm always concerned about injury - especially if AJ gets hurt. But Hollins & KW would have to take that role in that case, and it'd at least boost KW's development rather than the mop-up reps he's going to get now.

The Pats official website has reference to - rumors of a Boutte trade.Trading him to Houston would be idiotic. Trading him in general would be idiotic. The reason why the Pats escaped Houston was because they were missing their best WR Nico Collins and an injury on the OL with Trent Brown.
The two situations are very different. Brady was pouting about weapons despite the team being undefeated. They were also a Super Bowl contender midway through the season.Sanu brought back a 2.
They need to get down to 53 on the roster without exposing too many assets to poaching. The Pats were in the Super Bowl last year and just looked really good against the Colts and Eagles in joint practices. They’re not going to sneak up on anyone or slide players to the practice squad without other teams noticing. Not saying that will happen, but the longer you wait the more Boutte will bring.
They have too many good WR’s and you need to be ready for week one. You also have to do right by the player. Send him to a decent situation so he can maximize his earning potential, that’s not happening here.I don't see what's the big deal leaving him on the roster instead of one of the JAG RB's or TE's, while waiting to win a trade instead of giving Boutte away.
