Guregian: Boutte Requested a Trade Back in April

You use Mapu as an example of good 3rd rd pick?
Yikes!
Youre complaining about being productive. Mapu made plays for NE last season and played special teams.

Now, he is on the Texans.

If you dont believe that the rest of the 3rd rounds that Ive mentioned arent productive then NE is in real trouble this season.
And you noticeably left out:
Wallace
Perkins
Keene
Winovich
Asiasi
Cajuste
Rivers
Grissonm
Valentine
Bequette
Mallet
..................
NE has bad drafts and that played a big role in BB leaving.

Every time a decent WR gets injured these rumors will fly.

Trading him to Houston would be idiotic. Trading him in general would be idiotic. The reason why the Pats escaped Houston was because they were missing their best WR Nico Collins and an injury on the OL with Trent Brown.

Agreed. IF they were to trade him there, I want a 1st coming back. Thats the price you need to pay.

Player for player.

Henry To'oTo'o or Wade Woodaz. Plus a sixth.

Or maybe Jamal Hill or Logan Hall. Plus a fifth.

Trade scenario:

HOU receives Boutte
NE receives Will Anderson Jr. + 2027 1st rounder

I’d honestly be a bit reluctant, but I’m willing to risk it..
Dear god, can you imagine? He *just* signed that contract, that would be Deshawn Watson levels of dead cap they'd have to eat.

Did Boutte just become a target for Houston?

And the Saints.

Front office was wise on many levels to hold their powder on Boutte as the injury bug hits (thankfully not us but that was another reason to keep him for now)

While I know talk was about a 5th round pick for him, teams may now be getting more desperate and the fact that he can be a one year rental for a really cheap price to another team whether they extend him or not. He's getting most of his money this season so he's not going to sit out - he'll be a motivated player to showcase what he can do on a team that's weak at WR

A conditional pick would be great if they still do that - the better he does the better pick we get - as long as it's for an NFC team!

The Saints are rumored to be good this season too.

Sanu brought back a 2.

Not saying that will happen, but the longer you wait the more Boutte will bring.

I don't see what's the big deal leaving him on the roster instead of one of the JAG RB's or TE's, while waiting to win a trade instead of giving Boutte away.

Not many are willing to consider we can't pay Boutte his next contract if we have Brown and Doubs and then extend Gonzo and Drake. He will walk after this year and I doubt he will bring a comp pick. When the offers peak, we have to take what we can get for him.

Only if they throw in David Putney - we could use a returner.
Putney is not just a returner. He's an All-Pro. He's Devin Hester in his prime. Putney is older now and has lost a half-step. He still has a good season left in him

I'll adjust my take from Aug. 3 - just a bit - regarding Boutte.
It seems the last 2 days of practice have shown that Doubs is coming on strong, and looks more capable of securing the #2.
IF he stays healthy all year, and presuming Pop is the #3 in the slot - Boutte may be the #4, and not get near as much usage.
I highly doubt Boutte is in line for a deal here this offseason, so if they get a killer deal, it may be helpful to get a legit EDGE or OG/C in exchange for him. I'm always concerned about injury - especially if AJ gets hurt. But Hollins & KW would have to take that role in that case, and it'd at least boost KW's development rather than the mop-up reps he's going to get now.

Stop it. This is just too reasonable. We need a first round pick for Boutte. Nothing else.

The Pats official website has reference to - rumors of a Boutte trade.

Thats basically from the horses mouth.
