Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

Unless I hear it from Gonzo’s mouth it is speculation. Curran had the inside connection with Mayo and was on top of the reporting chain during that time. He now has come back to being a reporter getting his info from the ball boy. I can speculate also believing that Witherspoon and Gonzo are waiting each other out. It will get done eventually

Bro…if they were offered 4 1st round picks for anyone not named Drake Maye you take it before the other team comes down from whatever high they are on.

Never happen.

2 1’s and a 2 is likely best you’d get and I’d probably take it.
I agree, if they traded him they would probably get what the jest got for gardner 2#1s. No way a team would give up 4 #1s for a corner

Get your popcorn ready! It may be even more ridiculous than we thought.

because Gonzo is risking $100m
how does that correlate to Boutte?
Boutte’s risking his next contract, the largest of his career. So is Douglas, Hollins and more.

Christian has 18.1 million in guaranteed money left on his rookie deal, a lot more than these other guys. He’s done the right thing, he should be out there practicing. The team should pay him.

Boutte, Pop, even Hollins are trying to establish their value for their next deal.
Gonzo has established his value
no way what so ever, should Gonzo risk that by getting onto the field.

If true, Gonzalez wants not only to reset the CB market, but to reset the way contracts are structured league-wide. Absolutely insane.
which is why I posted above that most likely limits his trade value

18% is beyond ludicrous. He’d get $54M, $59M, $63M based on 2026-2028 projected caps. 3 years, $176 million.

It begs the question how it would be structured. Suppose for the sake of argument, they agreed to a more reasonable 10% of the cap. Does that mean no signing bonus and we simply restructure the deal year by year? Also, is this an extension or would it start immediately?

I’ve been in the Gonzalez camp but this just might be a bridge too far.

Greg Bedard is just as reliable as John Tomase. He is a doomer and gloomer who reads major tends into hiccups and farts.

One has nothing to do with the other, they all need new contracts. The market sets the price.

I suspect Gonzo will be done before game one.

This is hardly taking as long or getting as contentious as Logan Mankins.

Deals that reset the market usually come down to the wire as both sides are jostling for the best deal.

That trade looks fantastic on paper bit the likelihood that that trade would result in 2 players out of 4 who can actually play at a decent level neither of whom are or ever sniff top 3 at their position in the NFL like Gonzalez.

The Patriots have wasted so much draft capital they finally hit the jackpot on 2 elite ones in back to back years in Gonzalez and Maye and the issue now is they're too good, too expensive
