PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 12

If Pats had resigned Diggs and not made the Brown trade, they woukd still have the 28 first rounder and 27 5th rounder.
The difference between AJ Brown and Stefon Diggs is in now way equal to the first rounder they gave up.
AJ Brown trade was a panic desperation move that they will regret in April 2028.

Diggs will be 33 years old, AJ Brown will be 29… stop sniffing glue.

I don’t know why you keep saying this…? WRONG

$3.9M dead cap hit (w $14M cap save) for post-1Jun 27 TRADE is NOT „no way out“

I say it and will continue to say it because nobody is going to trade for his contract if he does so poorly the Pats want to get rid of him.

Your strategy works in Madden

This is all moot, because the Patriots won't be trading Romeo Doubs due to lack of production. Cool hill to die on though.

Maybe they should welch on the trade and trade for Diggs.
That way we can build a team that a guy who thought last years SB team was a 4 win would love!!!
We should hook you up with Vrabel and he can do Opposite George with you.

I do think Boutte is being a little overrated. I think he's good at what he does - a deep ball contested catch receiver - but he only had 33 receptions last year. He only had more than three catches in three games last year. Brown had more than double the number of total catches and had more than three catches in 11 games. As I've said, I just don't think Boutte is worth a sizeable contract so keep him this year and then let him walk.
Perhaps, but I think there is an argument he is underrated because of how his threat as a deep receiver opens up the rest of the field.
He runs a lot of routes that are high level of difficulty to get open but draw coverage to him.
His production is impacted by not being the guy who is #1 progression on combo routes barely at all.

Remember before the injury he was on track for a 50+ catch 900+ yard and double digit TD season.
whether you believe the injury was responsible for the dropoff or not that’s half a season showing potential to be a strong #2

I'll cheer for AJ because he's on our team, but I never wanted him here.
He even said the playbook is difficult, I saw him say it a couple of days ago talking to reporters.
Hopefully he's not another Galloway/Holt/Johnson.

Terrible take.
You have no idea where we are picking in 2028.
You have no idea if that pick would be a hit or miss, which will most likely be in the bottom third of the first rd.
Stay negative Sam.

They were in a position of weakness. With Diggs gone the WR room looked abysmal with no guarantee that they would get Brown. Also Philly would have had them over a barrel.

Obviously the team (and league for that matter) has less of an opinion of Boutte than posters on the board. But with a trade seemingly an option, the Patriots gave themselves all options.

In context it seems like a smart move to me.
Brown cost a 1st round pick.

The Pats did not get a deal in that trade.

I agree.

But it could have been even worse if we were left with Boutte, Hollins, Douglas, Williams, Chism as our receivers.

Maybe he's lost a step blah blah blah, but you don't get a WR of his pedigree for less than a first today.

They're almost never available.
