Pete Prisco ranks Drake Maye 61st of the top 100 players of 2026

It is the dead period of the offseason. I am just providing a topic to talk about that isn't a rehash of whether Belichick was responsible of Mac Jones or did Kraft force him to take him.
Credit for the dynasty to Brady or Belichick? Let's discuss.

I agree that 61 is way too low, but Maye would be drafted in the top 5 in large part because of his position and age and not necessarily he is one of the five best players in the league.

I would put him in the top 20. He is in the discussion with the top QBs in the league based on his performance in 2026.
Prisco has Maye as the #9 QB in the league. For the QB rankings I've seen has Maye unanimously in the top 10 so it's not a total swing and a miss IMO. If it was me I'd have Maye at least as QB#6 ahead of Dak, Love and Goff. Burrow and Stafford are too high and so is Lamar. Kermit could be as well, let's see what happens this season.

#2-Stafford
3-Allen
5-Burrow
7-Kermit
10-Lamar
43-Dak
51-Love
57-Goff
61-Maye
63-Herbert
65-Lawrence
69-Daniels
70-Caleb
72-Darnold
75-Purdy
80-Mayfield
84-Hurts
87-Nix

He ranked Daniels at #69 (QB #12) based on potential but he can't do the same for Maye?

Hurts at #84 and AJB at #64 looool. That oughta make Eagles fans even more butthurt than they already are.

If the entire NFL was put into a draft, Maye is a top-10 pick, maybe top-5.
Taking existing contracts into account, arguably he'd be the first pick. Most important position with a cost-controlled contract.

You are pretty spot on.
61 is too low, but he is not in the top 5-10 discussion yet.
Another season like last, and yes we can start to discuss him amongst the leagues best, but he's not there yet.
Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Stafford ahead of him right now.
Lamar is as well based, but I've never believed in him, never will and expect Maye to hurdle him this year.
Love should not be ahead of him, that's a whiff imo.
Goff...based on potential and ceiling I would not have Goff ahead of Maye, however he has performed incredibly well since his trade to Detroit, kinda flies under the radar.
As far as other positions, lots of guys I disagree with.
Aaron Brewer 30 spots ahead of Maye, come on now!

Some would say finishing 2nd in the MVP voting by one vote would put you in the discussion.
Through that lens yes.
But this is obv an exercise in potential, current ability and accomplishments.
Maye is on his way, and has been setup to succeed this year.
If he goes out and has a similar season he will move up, way up.
I have no problem having Allen, Stafford, Burrow and Mahomes ahead of him right now.
He has the opportunity to greatly alter those rankings.
I look forward to the climb!

Maye needs to duplicate 2025. There are way too many players these days having one good season and then becoming pedestrian.

Is this what he said?
I refuse to click on a Prisco article.
The headline only indicates "100 best NFL plater"

No idea, I didn't read it either.
But it obv takes the full body of work into consideration.
If not, Garrett (historical season) should be first, Stafford (MVP) second, Maye (just missed MVP) 3rd......and so on.
Bottom line for me, Maye is ranked too low, but I wouldn't put him as high as some other Pats fans would...yet.

Very true.
Maye has been setup for success much better this year and with his natural progression/experience building.
Obv we have a really tough schedule this year. If Maye goes out and replicates, or betters last year, he will be mentioned amongst the top 5 players in the league, and rightfully so.
