"Fresh Ideas" for 2026?

Some poster here believe that Josh will continue to dumb-down the Offense. I think that Josh will move forward in options and complexity.
He will because he has to as a function of change.

I agree. Adding Brown does imply a shift back to a more traditional receiving offense. Diggs had more yards on far fewer targets than Brown, who will probably command 125 -150 targets so by the math, fewer targets for other receivers.

But Brown stretches the D more and will draw double coverage more too - which I expect Josh to use to our advantage.

A guy like Doubs can line up anywhere and run almost any route. Our RBs are also legit receiving threats and I can even see him calling plays to throw to one of our blocking TEs to keep Ds off balance.

Having a strong running game also opens things up nicely, especially if we have a FB who can punch a hole.

Josh and Drake did a great job spreading the ball as they really did need to depend on the pass last year, so a shift with better-skilled players is natural, but I don't see Josh going back to the days of effectively having just throwing to Welker and Moss on nearly every play. Brown will get the most targets but I still expect to see a spread and balanced offense.

I think we'd all like to see them run a no-huddle at times and that might be something where Maye is helped by another year of development - but if the OL can protect him better, he can take all the time in the world if he makes the pass.

Who else hopes Josh doesn't do the dreaded goal line formation on short yards situations in the middle of the field?

More passes for Chism at/just past the sticks.

Where did the RPO go? All we heard from Josh was how he was excited to have a QB with legs who could move around... I didn't see a single RPO play last year. Josh did it a lot with Cam Newton, we know he can. While we're at it, why don't we move the pocket some... don't make Drake a statue.

All in all Josh needs to do more, and I don't mean big intricate flea flickers... just utilize the personnel better.

I'd love to see Demario Douglas get a handoff at RB or more handoffs in motion, the guy is impossible to see back there behind big bodies. Find ways to get that guy the ball in space.

If you insist on playing a FB, then for god's sake get that guy some outlet passes and make him part of the offense. Keith Byars was part of the offense, Marc Edwards was part of the offense, Larry Centers and Patrick Pass were part of the offense.... get Reggie Gilliam some carries and receptions... make the defense think they're a threat also... instead of just a tell the offense plans on running.

If Dippre or Raridon becomes the blocking TE, get them some receptions as well... see above, don't just make him an alert for the defense that you plan on running.

In a non-offense related theme, put Mike Onwenu in at Nose Tackle on must have short downs next to Barmore. The guy was a two way player in college... do it again.

This is Josh's kryptonite... it looked like he stumbled onto something when Rhamondre was unavailable and Josh had to spread the formation out to run the ball with Henderson. He kept that going some after Rhamondre returned.

He has to stop telegraphing run/pass... it is the absolute worst part of watching McDaniels offense.
