2026 Patriots OTAs - Second Open Media Day (6/2)

curious how this will go. I don't think we will be able to tell much till training camp. But it will allow new players to get use to the place and each other.

I do think the offense might start a little slower than we hope in some regards, since McDaniels' offense is a bit tough to get a grasp of and their top two WRs are both new to it (Brown and Doubs). While both players are good, they may still need to use simpler concepts at first. Then again, that's always the case at the start of most seasons, so might not be a huge deal.

On the other side of that coin, many of their top skill players (Maye, Brown, Doubs, Williams, Henderson, Stevenson, Gilliam, Raridon) will be here for several years, so next year and the year after that, they will have compounded knowledge of the scheme across that time and execute at a high level out of the gate. We saw the benefit of this during the Brady era.

I don't even think it is as hard as it was with Brady. His system develops alongside the QB, and with it only be year two of Maye with Josh McD; I think it'll less of a hurdle than before. That will be something in more and more consideration as Maye develops his short game. This could be a great time to join in terms of grasping the offense.

Apologies if this was clarified earlier but was there any news about the Gabe Jacas situation.

Weird that there's no detail on Hill's injury? If it's that devastating, couldn't they say he blew a knee or achilles or something?

Also - who knows absolute facts for how NFL deals get affected when this happens. Does he get his full $5M for the year, just as if he played the whole thing?

We know:

1. That it is a knee injury
2. That he sustained it during practice
3. That he is out for all of 2026

Yes, Hill is under contract, he gets paid, like anyone else under the CBA.

I’ve heard the knee is toast
