Boutte available for trade?

Except that Diggs had a 83.3% catch rate, Hollins had a 70.7% catch rate, Henry had a 68.9% catch rate, Chism had a 100% catch rate, Hooper had an 80.7% catch rate, Henderson also had a 83.3% catch rate, and Stevenson had a 86.4% catch rate.

Douglas was the exception. Boutte was part of the norm.
Is Boutte a better backup at slot receiver than Douglas.

We need a backup slot receiver.

I don't know if Boutte can play the slot. But Doubs and Brown can. Add Chism and Douglas, the Pats are pretty set at slot.

Douglas is a sufficient backup in the slot.

Williams is a sufficient backup outside.

Chism may or may not make the 53 as a 6th WR.

Boutte’s been a starter for the last two years, the question is not do you give him away… it’s do you pay him?

If you can’t get substantially better now and contend for rings now… you trade him.
Sometimes players improve. Someone on this site likes to say that often.

Surely, the inexpensive young #2 WR receiver on one of the top passing games in the league should be worth a significant pick in trade.

Why isn't this true?

You mean 10 catch all season Kyle Williams?? I like him too but he has to show a heck of a lot more than 10 catches to be even considered in this conversation. K Williams is not better than K Boutte right now; that remains to be seen. Also Boutte is a Faster version of Romeo Doubs.
You need to play to produce, he didn’t. You also need to practice with Drake and the ones, he mostly didn’t. Trading Boutte makes way for younger, cheaper, better players.

That’s true, but generally those players have the traits to do so. Boutte isn’t big, tall, fast or super quick… he isn’t going to improve upon those things.

Stevenson - 4.6YPA - 130 carries
Henderson - 5.1 YPA - 180 carries

Maye - 4.4 YPA- 103 carries

Jennings - 3.2YPA - 23 carries
Gibson - 4.2 YPA - 25 carries
Johnson - 1.9 YPA. - 13 carries

Anything over 4.5 YPA is considered very good to excellent. Considering that the Stevenson and Henderson each ran for over 4.5YPA despite the O-line tells you that they are very good.

The Pats signed Hill and Gilliam because they needed upgrades over Hooper and Westover and they were available.

In theory, the Pats will be rushing against stronger defenses. However, the Pats rushed well against strong defenses last year. The exception was the Super Bowl. Cleveland had the best run defense when the Pats faced them and the Pats put up 177 yards. Terrell Jennings and Henderson both averaged 7.5 YPA against the Browns. Stevenson had a bad game getting only 34 yards on 14 carries.

I mentioned in another thread that I wouldn't be surprised to see Stevenson and Henderson both put up over 1000 yards rushing this season. And yes. I expect them both to be over 5 YPA this year.

Despite decent YPCs, our running game sucked in short yardage. Hopefully there is a big improvement there.

Based on age and upside they would be foolish to Tradeaway Boutte for anything less than a Fourth Rounder. We can legitimately get one more year out of him; that is worth more than a crap shoot fifth rounder.

Boutte is 24. So let's see how your statements hold up?

DeGennaro - 25
Dixon - 25
Jimmy Kibble - 22
Cameron Dorner - 22

So, you're 50/50 on Age.

Cheaper? Yes. Because Boutte got a pay bump due to the league performance

Better? very unlikely.

Boutte was practicing with the Ones opposite Diggs regularly. Not sure where you get otherwise.

Even when the Pats had Devlin, they had issues with short yardage unless it was a Brady sneak. That's one of the aspects of his game that Maye needs to improve upon.

A lot of the short yardage issues came from Bradbury and Wilson not holding at the point of attack at their respective positions.

It should help to have Gilliam and Hill blocking instead of Westover and Hooper.

More precisely, for being on the field for >35% of snaps his first three seasons.

We traded a 4th for Randy Moss… but sure.

The bigger question is do you wait and lose him for nothing… or the potential of a compensatory pick.

Age is relative, they’re all young.

Boutte needs to get paid… have you seen NFL WR contracts lately?

Better is the unknown, but Boutte is a 500 yard receiver. Does that sound irreplaceable?
