Boutte available for trade?

I don't think anyone " wants" to trade. Boutte, people just realize that it's the likely outcome because he isn't showing up. I would love to see Boutte sign a 3 year deal for $36, but I think it's likely that he is looking for something closer to 4/$80, and they aren't going to do that. It's the same distinction with Gonzalez, I'm a big fan and consider him a top 3 corner, and I would love to see him get a 4 year $120 extension, but if he wants to be paid like Myles Garrett or Will Anderson they will have to trade him. Ultimately you have to put together a great team to win championships, and you can't do that with 2-3 guys eating up 40-50% of the cap. So people recognizing that a trade is a serious possibility doesn't mean they are down on the player, but more that they recognize a deal won't get done, so a trade is the likely outcome.

it all depends on the situation with Brown.
if Brown doesn't come and DIggs get a bigger deal elsewhere, Boutte is arguably the Pats #1 or #1A WR.
if Brown is here, and Boutte is unhappy and duplicity, at the least get him into camp, and see if the team sustains any injuries, or another team does. by any means, don't give away a player thats 23-24 years old, catches everything, and scores TD's.

Huh?? Boutte is a #3 WR right now helpfully with a #2 potential...but he's no way near a #1a or #1 WR. We'd be in trouble if that was the case.

By default, Boutte is the 2nd best WR the Pats have drafted since Julian Edelman in 2009. Because of this, a small minority of posters are trying to justify any statistic they can to say he's the future go to guy. But the fact that the media or that minority can't see how much of a mental midget he is wanting to run away from the competition is alarming. This isn't Emmanuel Sanders in Pittsburgh fighting off veterans or competing with future All Pro Antonio Brown. It's not the late 90's Pats, early 2000's Pats or the late dynasty Pats where Brady only threw to his trusted WR's. Malcolm Mitchell was a rookie when Brady had Edelman, Amendola, Hogan Gronk and Bennett, but found a way to catch for 400 yards off 46 targets, 32 receptions, 5th most targeted player and 3rd in snaps by a wide margin at 48%. We know what he did in the Super Bowl. Boutte would've slid down to 3rd had Mitchell not had he knees blown out.

The argument for Boutte is so bad and such a waste of everyone's time.

I think Boutte works well with others: he could be a very dangerous with AJB and Doubs. That's a lot of very good to decent WR's for any Defense to account for...somebody gotta be open. I think Boutte could be the beneficiary here.

We don't have to Trade him and he can walk after the season. I think they'll use AJB as a Slot; R Doubs sometimes there too. They're going still need that X in Boutte until KW figures things out. People are forgetting that AJB play the Slot almost exclusively at Ole Miss. I think McDaniels plan is to use him there a lot too.

That’s a good point that probably isn’t talked about enough. For example: Douglas only caught 57% of his targets with Maye throwing to him. Not a big fan of drops.

Except that Diggs had a 83.3% catch rate, Hollins had a 70.7% catch rate, Henry had a 68.9% catch rate, Chism had a 100% catch rate, Hooper had an 80.7% catch rate, Henderson also had a 83.3% catch rate, and Stevenson had a 86.4% catch rate.

Douglas was the exception. Boutte was part of the norm.

Boutte isn’t their best option back to a Super Bowl. He’s just okay. If Brown comes here, Doubs is already here, Kyle Williams an explosive play just waiting to happen and a handful of talented UDFA’s entering the room Boutte is 4th on the depth chart at most. Wanting a new contract is a fast way to get traded.

Also what was your win/loss prediction for
last year…. I’d guess under double digit wins like most of the negative types here. We cant use your measure
of how much “talent” these team has because you regularly tell us untalented people are that.

NFL teams have 53 man rosters, I’d say there’s not a more chaotic or parity driven sport on the planet. It’s hard to get to a Super Bowl, never mind win one. But the same teams find themselves in the running year after year because smart organizations can manage it. Smart organizations find players, in free agency, in the draft and amongst the undrafted ranks.

I'm just gonna leave this here and remind everyone that Troy Brown was 26 years old and had been in the NFL for 5 years the first time he caught 40 passes in a season... he didn't do it again until he was 29 years old...

I don't know what Boutte's ceiling is, but I know that when a guy shows you he's here to overcome obstacles (late round pick, coaching changes, offensive scheme changes, hostile fans, hostile media, quarterback changes, lack of elite athleticism, team constantly trying to replace them, etc), and he still continues to produce and improve you don't want to just give them away for nothing...

Boutte’s been a starter for the last two years, the question is not do you give him away… it’s do you pay him?

If you can’t get substantially better now and contend for rings now… you trade him.

You mean 10 catch all season Kyle Williams?? I like him too but he has to show a heck of a lot more than 10 catches to be even considered in this conversation. K Williams is not better than K Boutte right now; that remains to be seen. Also Boutte is a Faster version of Romeo Doubs.
