Boutte available for trade?

can you provide a link or tweet that there was an offer made?
He is right though, they really wanted to do a short-term 2-3 year deal for short money with almost all of it guaranteed, which would have given him the chance to be a true FA at age 26 (and the chance to produce until then), somewhere along the lines of 3/33 with almost all of it guaranteed.

His agent wasn't interested, so they went after Doubs hard in FA.

His agent putting this stuff out there about how he isn't happy, isn't helping his client in the slightest, but it is what it is. Boutte has zero leverage, and he's costing this kid money long term. He'll be lucky to get 3 years 30+ on the open market after next year, now.

That's his choice.
He will deal with the consequences if he does that.
The second that happens, he slices his value in half to 31 other teams.
Mental health of course is a real thing in life and not be joked on.. especially for athletes.. however I'd also mention Ben Simmons..who was a budding star and played himself into generational wealth.. you have to wonder did mental health affect his ability to sign the contract the sixers gave him? So I equate the same for Boutte.. he dealt with some things mental health ect.. but I'd ask will him securing the new contract he wants suddenly cure his mental health issues?
It is more about whether he causes locker room problems. And if he going to sit out anyway, why not trade him and get draft compensation.

I posted a video where Mike Giardi said most teams see him as a WR #4 on a good team. Sitting out would only lower his free agency value. So the Pats won't get a compensatory pick for him. Why not get value for him in a trade in this situation?
Boutte reminds me a bit of David givens..both late round picks who had gotten better each season and were clutch for thier QBs.. givens himself wanted a new deal if you remember and ended up signing in 06 with the titans..

Boutte meanwhile hasn't even fulfilled his rookie deal yet and seemingly wants to get paid.. as much as I like Boutte he still needs another season to really get a doubs type deal.. because camp is around the corner and if he doesn't report and K. Williams and UDFAs start getting his snaps, and showing something especially against this secondary in camp then his leverage is minimized.

33 catches for 550 yards. Reche Caldwell had more production than that.

I like Boutte but its not like we are moving on from a guy that is on the cusp of being a 1,000 yard reciever.
David givens.. think givens..that's what Boutte is.. both late round picks..

played well in the offense difference is givens fulfilled his rookie contract and he couldn't get what he wanted here so he signed with Tennessee.. but i agree with your post!

Caldwell? Really? He was the #1 receiver that year, and he cost us an EZ SB.

That's a really good comparison and the closest comp within the franchise. Givens had a lot of tight sideline catches. However, Givens was far superior as he would bully CB's for 50/50 balls while Boutte relies on acrobatics. Also, Givens beat out Troy Brown and David Patten for targets on a run heavy offense. Boutte was on a team with a heavy passing offense, yet he can't beat out Hollins. Boutte should've have taken over as the #2 WR with ease, but failed to do so.

Vincent Brisby is the other guy Boutte reminds me of. Brisby was a guy who'd make tough catches on 3rd down when everyone else may have been covered - but he was hardly every available from 1996-1999. When he was available, he was able to put up half of Boutte production as the 6th most targeted player. Boutte has been the 3rd (2024) and 4th (2025) most targeted player.

Rain. You continue to impress! great, great post. Forget all about Brisby! Thanks for this. Yes Boutte wants A contract we get it. But he needs to continue his development as a player.. truly he could end up seeing a doubs like contract.. look at doubs kept his head down, worked hard and battled through some injuries but ended up instructing his agent to prioritize NE as we wanted to come here! David givens had some of the best hands I've seen in a Patriots WR he ran every pattern as well and fulfilled his rookie deal.. Boutte should understand this.. there's ways to go about things and I'm not sure here's getting the best advice or he's either ignoring sound advice.?

If they’re not going to pay him, which it seems they’re not, I’d take the sure thing draft pick in 2027 than wait for a compensatory pick that may never come in 2028 if they dip their toes in free agency.
Would t mind holding onto him but I get your point. He may start to be a disgruntled teammate knowing he is going to be 4 or 5 down the pecking order and he wants a big contract
