I actually like the draft and considered it a solid B/B-, which as a professor, I remind my students means the work is between “good”/“above expectation”. However, I do feel more confidence in the fact that RLKAG than any draft pick, at any position. One does not need to project facts.

I wasn't high on Lomu, but hopefully he works out.

I kind of wrote off Raridon because of injury, but it seems like a very good pick.

Prunty is the make or break pick.

I'm going with "killed it" - the Pats seemed to move up to grab the guys THEY WANTED in the first 3 rounds, despite picking at the end of each round.

Even the talking head pundits are giving them and A- with teams like the Jets, with THREE first round picks getting Bs

I think we did well with our first three picks and also Crownover. After that, as I expected, it was underwhelming. But I expected that to happen, though there were some other players I would have preferred (like move up a few spots for Charles Demmings or pick Kaytron Allen or take a chance on Harold Perkins). But I get it that this draft was weak after the top 100 or so picks so it was dart throwing time after the 3rd round, for us anyways.

Lomu: A+ watch his footwork. Better lateral movement than Freeling, Miller and Iheanichor.

Jacas + Raridon A, I put them together because I would have preferred trading up for Stowers and then taking Crawford but it's a close thing and I can't fault anyone who thinks the opposite.

Prunty B, I watched him again this morning and there's a lot to like. I wonder if they are thinking of him with his size and speed at FD.

Ctowever B, great size, decent footwork, needs to have better pad level and not get turned.

Obiazor D, I don't think he has the short area speed to play at the next level.

Morton F, Bailey Zappe as his ceiling. There were better options on the board.

Miller F, no speed no vision.

Hutchins B, could develop into a rotational piece.

They were very successful at getting ahead of runs at positions in 2025, so I am inclined to trust their judgment regarding what other teams are going to do.

They have zero creativity and will never take risks and shoot for the homerun.
All 3 other teams in the division had better and more interesting drafts than pats.
Bottom third of the league team next year and boring while doing it.

My biggest disappointment in round 7 was drafting a QB with limited upside.

At least take a gamble on gr8ness, but what do I know?

I didn’t like the Brady pick at the time. Maybe we just drafted the next GOAT.

I feel like Joe Milton was a gamble on greatness and it was a disaster. I'll take a QB known for his accuracy and smarts as a QB3 who will probably never see action in a real game.

Lack of impact talent? WOW. SMH.. Jacas is going to be an excellent player for the Pats. He's actually uses a variety of moves between Power and Speed to beat people. This was over-looked by plenty of people such as yourself.

Pats are using their relatively new process for the draft the past 2 years...."trust your evaluations"

they did. and they made moves thru out the draft to trust themselves, and went after the players they graded into their tiers.
they saw a run at OT, and trusted their work done on Lomu. the same for Jacas.
Pats stayed aggressive. trusted themselves. improved their depth. filled in some holes.

the tackle pick in the 5th round, to me at least, gives a hint that they don't trust Campbell at LT. Sure, he will have incumbent priority, and might as well prove he deserves the spot. Crownever looks like a project, between him and Marcus Bryant, if one of them pans out, we might have Tackles figured out for some years, between them, Lomu and Campbell. Obviously, maybe interior line would make more sense, short term wise.

How does the drafting of Crownover say that the Pats don't Trust Campbell? The Pats lost Lowe and Munford. They have exactly ZERO proven players behind Campbell and Moses. So, drafting guys like Lomu and Crownover is the Pats trying to ensure they have swing a swing tackle going forward with one of Lomu or Crownover taking over the RT position and the other being the top backup.

Obiazor seems like a bad pick. I really don't like picking for Special Teams, and he's the opposite to Raridon as in the more I read, the less enthusiastic I am. Small for a Linebacker and seeing some his videos, he doesn't react to things quickly enough.

Obiazor is the typical LB size that Vrabel has been going for. Look at Spillane - 6'1 and 229. Obiazor is 6'2 and 232. The reports on him seem to mimic what you said about him being slow to react on plays.

I don’t like assigning grades to fresh drafts either. Not my thing. But I think, like most, the Pats did well with their first three picks. The rest is a crapshoot from a bad draft class. It seems they got what they needed and Brown was obviously the big offseason move. Onward and upward.

I also agree they did better than the Bills and Dolphins. I’ll give the Jets credit for a good draft, but we all know what happens when they take the field.

The Dolphins draft was better than the Pats and the Jets. The Jets draft added a couple of good players, but nothing compared to the Dolphins

In terms of lack of impact talent, I think a lot fans are seeing the same thing with their teams. The overall quality of players coming out has been pretty mediocre for quite some time.

Agree. It comes down to them trading for AJ Brown or hoping Kyle Williams emerges or Boutte becomes a more consistent player.

I gave it a B. When your picks are this late in each round, you have to temper your expectations. The result was a B (Even as I type that I think A- sounds better) in large part because of where we drafted. B at that draft position is about as good as it can get. On the other hand, we did fill (hopefully) several positions of weakness, thinness, need; and it did take a little modestly fancy footwork to get that done. The result is a B, but I think there is at least a case to be made that the management of the draft might deserve - what? - a soft A, maybe. I have come around on Eliot. His manner is annoying - one of those guys who always looks like he smells something awful - but he does seem to know what he's doing. Maybe Bill's bullying manner and idiosyncratic approach in the draft really was more to blame for Eliot's crap record prior to Vrabel's arrival than I thought. I thought the Blame Bill thing was just an excuse for Eliot's failures: maybe not. (I know this will annoy Bill's many acolytes, but...it is what it is.)

Yes, we executed well in the upper rounds and the result was good, getting the last OT and the last Edge before big drop-offs, without overpaying in either trade. We filled our 3 glaring needs with + athletes. OL is now in a good spot, as well as Edge and TE. Prunty was a guy we knew from a 30 visit, and Crownover looks better than Bryant. Going without a 4th was painful but was the cost of getting the top 2 guys.

I wasn't as happy with the 6th & 7th rounds, starting with the trades. We picked at 196 (Crownover), 212 (Obiazor), 234 (Morton), 245 (Miller), and 247 (Hutchins), and only 1 or 2 of them look likely to make the team. But we started R6 with 191, 198, 212, and 247, and if we'd stayed put we could've taken Jack Kelly at 191, Crownover/Micah Morris at 198, VJ Payne/Tim Keenan at 212, and Nussmeier/Uar at 247. All 4 of those picks would've made the team I think, as real contributors. The 2027 6th wasn't needed cause we already had 3 extra 2027 picks in that range.

The Dolphins draft was better than the Pats and the Jets. The Jets draft added a couple of good players, but nothing compared to the Dolphins

The Phins have done a great job dealing with the Tua dead money problem by clearing the deck, manufacturing picks, and loading up on rookies and cast-offs. They'll be decent this year and a bright future down the line.

I think that was a miss in this draft.
Lots of good WRs throughout the draft available in every rd and we choose none.
Our WR room with AJ is fine for 2026, but I think it's a big miss not adding a guy for 2027 and beyond.
