Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I get what you are saying. I’m not disputing that someone is needed to replace Diggs and his production or that his replacement has a higher chance of being a free agent rather than a rookie, given where we are drafting.

What I am saying is that’s one guy, not two. If the Pats have already made what they feel is their best offer for Brown, get someone else and move on.

But I don’t understand getting a replacement for Diggs and then continuing to pursue Brown. There are only so many spots for WR and the team has other needs.

But I suppose I’m fine with whatever. I’m oddly confident I’m watching the Patriots patiently getting the pieces they need. Haven’t felt that way in a few yeara

At some point you have to gamble that Williams/ Boutte are going to be our Puka / Diggs . You do that by giving them more snaps and responsibilities.

Last year was the first year for the coaching staff. So we had more vets. Now this is second year, the rookies should hopefully start to produce more.

We pinged on left side completely last season with rooks and reached the Superbowl bowl. This year they have one more year of experience and we have signed the highest ceiling left guard .

Our run game is going to be extremely good which will open up the middle for our wide receivers. We can be like Packers who did a great job of wr by committee . Now Maye will also be forced to improve his repertoire by improving on the shorter passes making the slot a weapon again .

If Maye is MVP material the. I am sure he can do well with the offensive line and running backs we have. The wide receivers are going to be a complimentary piece of this offense and if williams becomes a wr2/wr1 sky is the limit.

I am not too sold on AJ Brown . Donno why . Maybe BJT more.

Doubs should probably be good enough and we should trade away pop if we feel Chism can eat into his reps. I don't see any upside with pop and don't want to waste reps on him.

Chism I know is slower but I just feel he has that X factor and underdog mentality that not many have . He would be a solid 500-750 yard receive for us this season if pop is traded away.

I have this strange feeling we are going to end up with Doubs.. feeling like if the AJ trade really was going to happen it would have already.. just to much smoke surrounding it for it not to be a real possibility.. I also don't see us offering pierce 27-30 million in wich he's seeking.. he's a 20m player..
Brown is ridiculously overpriced right now. Time to move on.
Agree that current WR and TE group is inadequate.
Suggest sign Njoku and Jennings

I think Roseman eventually relents - but it might be a post-draft, post-June 1 trade, so the compensation would be for 2027 (and/or 28), and definitely would not involve a first rounder.
I really hope the Pats don’t cave. We don’t need Brown THAT bad.

Let Roseman deal with his dysfunctional locker room.

Pats shouldn’t overpay to bail out Roseman.

Njoku's going to command some cash, he was the best TE on the market IMO, and he is older - but he would also add a different dynamic for Maye.

The fact that it hasn't happened means they're not getting a first out of it.

It's going to come down to whether Roseman moves off his position or Brown stays there another year.

Agreed. stand firm and they’ll eventually lower their asking price. Brown won’t report if they try moving him to a 2 win team… he’s made his money and has leverage. The Pats are in the AFC, they’ll eat some money I’m sure. Make it happen!

Do not want, giving up picks plus that contract will be disastrous.

Love how the blogger just regurgitated what someone from Roseman's office told him.

This passes for 'reporting' these days.

"They must understand the Eagles are taking a huge loss". Sure, maybe shoulda thought about that before your hardo, ****head head coach alienated his entire team.

Roseman: "YOU need to pay extra because WE will really suffer financially when we make this move!!"

Vrabel: "I missed the part where that's my problem."

Not pointing a finger at you, but just in general.

Getting to the SB last year is giving some people unrealistic expectations.

Pats have a bright future but are still developing. We need to be patient and smart with the roster construction and Vrabel’s seems aware.

Remember how people were lamenting the Pats not doing anything at the trade deadline.

The only player the Pats tried to get at the deadline was Dremont Jones, and the Titans wouldn’t deal with the Pats, but they signed him yesterday as a FA.

I made mention of Doubs as well.. he or Jennings would suffice.. so far the teams making sensible decisions in FA..

For example we were terrible in short yardage last season.. we sign Gilliam

The elephant in the room was edge got a top 10 edge rusher in Jones.. guy can play inside and outside..

Vera- Tucker was also another excellent pick up.

I believe this Patriots team doesn't get enough credit for what they achieved last season.. regardless of any schedule talk they won consistently... prior to that they lost consistently...

They re-established the culture and implementation of the first year of Vrabel.

They are making sensible signings that help them.. the vision is continuing to build through the draft and logical FA signings. Some fans are being ridiculous with the way to early criticism of FA..

We have the QB, we have the coaching.. everything else will come together.

The rest of the league is watching. If Vrabel and Co cave to ridiculous demands they will compromise their position in future negotiations.

Brown is a great rec no doubt, but the asking price is way too much. Time to move on.

Brown : while the discussion is going on..

Agree. Draft is one if the ways . However If you keep whiffing you become bottom of the barrell teams . No team has survived repeated bad drafting and we are no exception either. We had couple of cheat codes in Brady, edelman ,gronk and some defensive playmakers . So we were always able to be competitive . If we had anyone a rung below that , all the 3 titles in second dynasty run would be kaput. Despite the poor drafting we won and that's because we had some crazy success in 2008-2012 period. After that as the cupboard began to dry we saw what happened in 2019-2024. Brady couldn't do it alone .

Belichick was a great coach but the repetitive bad drafts in his late 60s definitely impacted us.

After 2012, these players were drafted who were significant contributors to our SB runs -

2013 -
Jamie Collins, Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon

2014 -
Jimmy Garoppolo, Bryan Stork (he started 13 games including the SB as a rookie), James White

2015 -
Trey Flowers, Shaq Mason, Joe Cardona

2016 -
Joe Thuney, Jacoby Brissett, Malcolm Mitchell (he was big for us in the second half against the Falcons)

2017 -
Deatrich Wise Jr.

2018 -
Sony Michel

We can't draft All Pros with every pick. The bolded is the reason why your perspective is skewed.

I am really tired of this repetitive Belichick couldn't draft crap. His teams went to 9 Super Bowls, won 6. Please stop and appreciate what he accomplished.
