Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
I expect the Brown trade will not happen until after June 1, if it happens at all.

I’m not surprised the Colts stepped up to keep Pierce. I didn’t really expect we’d be paying the final price for him.

We might end up with Doubs. And we might end up with Briwn. We might even end up with them both. We will just have to wait and see.
According to Chris Gasper.. it's at a stand off with Roseman.. as the two sides are trying to agree on compensation... Eagles were just awarded compensatory picks.. as you mentioned of the timeline June 1 is pivotal. As discussed yesterday there is also this to be watching as well...

SOURCES: The #Jaguars are entertaining offers for WR Brian Thomas, @snytv has learned.

Both the #Jets & #Giants explored Thomas at the traded deadline last year, but Jacksonville wasn't willing to do any deal.

That stance has changed.

Thomas had a down 2025 (48 catches, 707 yards, 2 TDs), but was tremendous as a rookie (87-1,282-10 TD) https://search.app/N5BDd

lol. Phillips is now a Panther. No more info about Brown’s contract.

Here’s the key info on Brown’s contract: June 1.

Here’s Grok’s summary, which matches my recollections from previous discussions:
The contracts edge rushers got is insane.. Mafe, Oweh, Philips who had 5 sacks!!! Got a bag! What we gave Dre Jones was right in line... just going by the production in comparison from Chaisson to all those guys mentioned Chaisson may see 20 plus million in FA.. that is excellent for him and his family.. I like KC and wish he could stay as he was a leader in the locker room.. unfortunately he may have priced out of NE... especially with us Signing Jones.

the team that gives Chaisson 20 mill is nuts. Solid player More in line for 3 and 42 IMO

My opinion is that it is the right time to get the high price receiver. I think some people overestimate the draft picks sometimes. Draft picks are important don’t get me wrong but sometimes trading them to get good players isn’t the end of the world.

The Rams have traded 9 of their last 10 1st round picks and they are in the playoffs every year.

Trade #31 for AJ Brown. Get that high priced WR for 2-3 years while Drake Maye is on his rookie contract and draft a receiver high in 1-2 years to have him on his rookie contract once we are paying Drake.

Oh definitely.. but the market has been reset.. so he will capitalize on this.. Chaisson for example had more production then Phillips who had 5 sacks with the eagles and got north of 100 million

Happy to be corrected, but my sense was the Eagles wanted more than #31.

Hopefully we'll be in the bottom third of the draft for a while. Blue chip WRs are usually gone by then. I think we kinda have to catch lightning in a bottle, like Puka, and that hasn't been our forte. But, new regime, you never know...

Am the only one who thinks this is Not! going to happen. All this June talk is risky : what if the Eagles change their minds on moving him. **** happens in the NFL.

Rams have 2 picks this year and traded their lower pick . Rams had some fantastic drafts which allowed them this leeway. Not everyone has the level of drafting success that rams have ..

They had a cheat code in Donald for much of their time and now verse has come along . That luxury allowed them to trade off without much impact as Donald could elevate average defense around him. Puka just came out of nowhere . That's blind luck ! Now they need to pay him. I don't think they can afford to do the same trades going forward as low cost high end talent is invaluable .

It's similar to how we hit Brady , gronk. And you always had one gap which you fulfilled through free agency .

Sadly for us bill was the worst GM from 2012 to 2023 . His ineptitude thankfully led us to multiple 4 win seasons and drafting Maye .

Even though his cap hit changes after June 1, he doesn't have a payday until August, I think, so the Eagles might not be motivated to move him (if they're going to) until then. And they might want to see what his attitude is like in camp.

If we don’t land Pierce now we are in deep
trouble. Philly will have all the leverage in the Brown trade and we will get desperate.

I can’t see Vrabel and Wolff saying it’s ok if our top WR in 2026 is Boutte.

I honestly think the Patriots are playing with fire. Will they get burned? We’ll see.

I know. I haven't been able to breathe all morning. Personally I think they are doomed. Number 1 pick overall coming in 27'.

Yeah I'm with you. Its so much dead cap for Philly and having to wait til June...so much could happen like you say.

Plus this FA class kinda sucks donkey balls for pats needs.

Walker going to KC is huge. They filled a huge hole. That's what the pats have to do at WR. The schedule and expectations are going to be much larger obstacles this year.

We won 3 SBs after 2012. You can't win 3 SBs with the worst GM. You think Brady did all of that by himself?

Listening to Gasper yesterday on 98.5 he mentioned they are trying to work out compensation? What is the vibe on your end?

I definitely see your point.. But having stability at the most Important position in football makes any GMs job much easier.. we saw how it looked without QB stability.. as have many other organizations.

I think Roseman eventually relents - but it might be a post-draft, post-June 1 trade, so the compensation would be for 2027 (and/or 28), and definitely would not involve a first rounder.

We won because of the 2009-2012 draft class . After that it was pretty bad with 2018-2022 probably the worst period .

Anyways bill is gone, but the stench of 2022 class and 2024 class ( sans Maye) is the reason we have to be extremely creative to plug holes and field a competitive team. We were efficient last year coupled with some luck on health and scheduling front . Let's see how this year goes.
