He clearly saw something during the game that made him think it would work. The not telling everyone sold it to the Defense and caught them flat-footed. My only wish was that he'd gone down in bounds as soon as he got passed the marker so the clock would have kept running.
That was unnecessary because all they had to do is kneel down to win the game at that point.

This needs some context to be fair. They were calling plays that had Maye getting rid of the ball quickly and you could tell even then Maye was not comfortable. All season and even in the Chargers and Texans game, Maye looked comfortable sitting in the pocket (in the Chargers and Texans game maybe too comfortable). Last game was the first time you saw him anticipate pressure and speeding up his play.

Even on Maye's scramble to win the game, Campbell gets beat badly and the defender would have gotten Rham in the backfield if he had the ball

Also, am I the only one who is over the hate that Kraft gets from our own fans? You can’t deny the legacy.

Admittedly the massage parlor stuff was sus but besides that he’s a NE legend too
I’m putting the rivalry with Bill and the documentary behind. It’s a chance for a fresh start.

Hey, i was trying to be as partial as i can! Maye was better this year than Darnold ever was. Even if you consider Maye's drop in production in the playoffs, at best, you could argue that Darnold isn't much worse. And like you wrote, our defense has been better than theirs in the playoffs. Let's not forget that 7 of those 16 points against the Texans were after Maye lost a fumble at our own 27, so they've allowed ONE genuine TD against three playoff teams. ANY other team, and this defense would be getting ''historic'' adjectives. But it's the villainous Pats, so they get absolutely no credit. My point was that the difference in quality on paper between the Patriots and the Giants, and Brady and Eli was so large, that there's a reason why it's considered one of the greatest upsets in sports history. There's almost nothing separating the Pats and Seattle, not the QB, not the offensive line, not the running game, not the defense...they have one All-Pro WR, and we don't. If you analyze the season, their faults, their struggles, and ours, we've got two very similar seasons. The only difference is that Darnold played against a defense without 10 starters in the 49ers, and both teams struggled in the championship games, they struggled on defense, we struggled on offense. But if you read/listen to the narrative, you would think the Seahawks are 17-0, and the Pats 8-9, and not having one more win than them.
Ok, with you on the point

We're now the faketriots to go w the cheatriots... or what you and I both know, which is we're the Hatriots -- hate us cause they ain't us

The idiocy is strong this season - fans going back and forth saying to each other that we're not for real because _____, then just fill in the blank. Doesn't matter. Sure, weak schedule. Whatevs. Yes, we had a weak schedule, including your team, Denver. And Houston. And San Diego. That must be it.

And you know what? What if they just said, "Yeah, the Patriots are good," or "We have to really be careful, once you're down to this team they will sit on you, make you hit yourself with your own fists and say "why are you hitting yourself?" "

Then maybe that would feel sort of jinx-ish, because that's admitting we're good. But not one damn voice has been out there saying that. With luck, Sea. will be saying that when asked, leading up to the game -- that's textbook. But random hate from "them" at large is strong enough to set up the shoulder chip. At this point, Seattle can say all the right things. It's still "on NE to prove them wrong." I love that for us.

This is a team that will take it out on opponents when they feel that.

By the way, a feel for the disrespect card is one thing you can bring with you across eras, whether coach or player. I am sure Vrabes has internalized BB's talent for focusing the team on doing their job and tuning out the noise.

It never really was tuning out the noise. It was feeding on it. Plate's full this year.

Somebody else here said you have to give Kraft his due despite the massage scandal thing... come on, it writes itself. Isn't he entitled to a happy ending now and then too, or is it just us fans?

I really wish that old Patriots opponent excuse generator website from the early 00's was still around. Not sure if anyone else remembers it. It would be so perfect for the next 2 weeks. Lol

“It’s the refs fault Josh Allen isn’t in the Super Bowl”

“It’s the defense fault Josh Allen isn’t in the Super Bowl”

“It’s the OC or DC fault Josh Allen isn’t in the Super Bowl”

“It’s Sean Mcdermott’s fault Josh Allen isn’t in the Super Bowl”

“It’s our receivers fault for not catching passes for why Josh Allen isn’t in the Super Bowl”

“It’s our GM’s fault for Josh Allen not being in the Super Bowl”

“It’s the Patriots’ cupcake schedules fault for Josh Allen not being in the Super Bowl”

They are the whiniest fanbase. It’s never on Josh Allen

So lame... what possible reason would the refs have to hose the Bills? They need to get over themselves. No one cares about that backwater city enough to intentionally screw them.

Dude, that was the Drake Maye run out of bounds for the first down.
No kidding. Really?

I thought you were saying the bootleg was unnecessary, hence why I said they needed the first down. Apparently you were refering to going down in bounds, which tbh he didn't have that much room to do. If he had slid they probably would have (incorrectly) marked him short. but if he had managed to get the first down and go down it would have required one less kneel down.

Just need Sam to Sam one last time!

Anybody else worried about those wild circus l act catches that’s haunted us since the damn Super Bowl 42?! I know we’ve had a few of those in the Brady/Belichick era without ever having been figured out a way to stop them

That was unnecessary because all they had to do is kneel down to win the game at that point.
If he stayed in bounds, the clock would have continued to run..

How do you know it's not? Bill Polian CLEARLY used it to dredge up s**t to keep Belichick out of the Hall of Fame..

Btw, This was outstanding awareness on Drake’s part to prioritize getting the first down. Sometimes i will see players sliding to stay in bounds pretty unnecessarily instead of getting extra yards that could make a difference. In these situations usually the very first thought in the players head is make sure you stay in bounds . Drake knew the exact situation while the defender was closing on him and had a decent chance to stop him short.
