2025 Draft: RBs

Can I assume we can cross RB off the list this year.

Treveyon Henderson
Rhamondre Stevenson - 7.6m cap hit but 8m dead cap
Antonio Gibson - Returns kicks, under contract for one more year, only 4.5m saving
Lan Larison - Potential quality receiving back.

I don't see a compelling reason to draft someone this year. It makes more sense to upgrade the OL before drafting a Stevenson replacement next year.

Yes, unless BPA and other needs well met.

Example:

EDGE and OL (x 2) already addressed, and Jardarian Price available day 3. Might be too good to pass up.

I am not suggesting he's anywhere close yet but I just wonder whether Vrabel might see his Derrick Henry in Clemson's Adam Randall's future. He needs to run more physically for sure, but the size and speed are there. Reminder, Randall is 6-2, 235lbs. He runs in the 4.4s apparently with a sub 11 second 100m in his past. Again i'm not envisioning him ever being that good, just that he can perform a similar role for Vrabels' Pats that Henry did for Vrabel's Titans.

Highlights

If we are going to take a RB (I doubt it), this guy or Kaelon Black of Indiana would be my choice

Mike Washington, Arkansas, 6-2, 228lbs

I thought one of the four 6th rounders was definitely a RB?

I don't think those 4 6th rounders will be definitely anything. Value developmental prospects that you can stash on the PS would be good.

I think it is a RB because we need one and the RB's value is so low that a RB is probably BPA in R6.

I agree with your second point but I'm not convinced about your first.

Next years roster as it stands

1. Rhamondre
2. Treveyon
3. Gibson
4. Larison

The argument can be made that Gibson isn't worth 4.5m and therefore cuttable, and that Larison is unproven but I actually like that as a RB room. Gibson offers KR upside, something we've been lacking since Treveyon gained a more substantial role on the team and Larison has a fairly unique skillset in that he's almost better as a receiver than he is RB. It's a well balanced roster. And the thing with RB is that you don't really need to develop them. If we want a RB for '27, just draft one in '27.

I'm fine with drafting one in the 6th because you may be right about BPA, I just don't think it essential and they may end up on the PS as long-term cover for injuries throughout the season.

Everything you said is correct. We don't know about Gibson or Larison, and we need cover. 6th round is a great BPA spot for a RB. We can get a guy with real impact as opposed to a flyer on a OT, for example, and if we miss then try again in 2027 (like you say). A monkey can hit on a RB in R6 when picking two years in a row.

If Washington or Black are there in the 6th I'm absolutely fine taking one of them. I just don't think it a problem if we don't. But we have to pick four prospects, short of trades, so why not?

Both would be exciting. At 5'10" and 110 do you think Black would be OK with blitz pickup?

A work in progress but I think that's true of almost all RBs in this class. He's not someone I'm wedded to, I just enjoy his tape more than Hemby and I'm pro take Indiana players in the late rounds.

One of my 'this could get interesting' guys
