I think you are giving McDaniel way too much credit ….
I think coaching the fins for next 2 years is going to be infinitely worse than any great OC opportunity he takes up for next couple of years while getting paid too . If he likes Florida a lot he might take up the bucs OC job...

THAT would actually be a great spot for him, but I am sure he wants to be an HC, and there are still a lot of spots open and not a lot of great candidates.

Leave apart ravens and bills none of other spots make any sense..

I doubt any of the above teams will hire him as HC .

He should tag team with Saleh as HC and go to Ravens or Bills . He is anyways getting paid HC money for next 2 years I guess.

With all the coaching openings, if they think they have their guy it is better to just go for it.

This reminds me of how I got my first (and thankfully only, so far) ex-wife.

Considering they are both ex-49ers coordinators from the same timeframe, I could kinda see them teaming up like that.

I wish we could back to the good old days when coaches were promoted with actual merit. So many good coaches back in the day that didn't get consideration because HC's weren't getting fired at such a rapid rate. It's good to be a position coach/coordinator in this era of the NFL.

Mark 4 wins from division thanks to jets and fins and maybe get 2 from Buffalo too . So all we need is 5 to 6 more wins from remaining 11 games to qualify for postseason.
We can qualify with fewer wins if we win the division.

I can't comment on how Hafley coached as the DC for GB.
I do strongly believe he was a season away from being let go as the BC Eagles HC before he left for the nfl.
like most 1st time HC's, his success or failure will depend on who he is able to bring along with him. With Lafleur staying on at GB, how many of the GB staff will follow Hafley to Miami's rebuild?
with a really weak qb draft this season, and Tua seemingly out, I expect Miami to be a top 5 draft spot in 2027.

Yeah, tank mode for sure, they need to plan for the 2027 QB draft class. New coaches will get 2 years unless you are a Mayo dumpster fire level of coach. Easiest way to success in NFL is a good QB. Tank away.

Tanking for Arch?

Tanking for Arch?
I think we need to see a lot more/better from Arch before hanging a 1-1 draft slot on him.
Maybe he does take that next step. maybe not.

I also don't see Mendoza as the best option at 1-1.
in 2024, he would have been a 2nd round pick imo

Tanking for Arch?
Sayin, Moore and then Manning.
Too far away to know how 2026 shakes out but upside of at least 2 of those will be higher than Mendoza. If they play well in 2026 those 3 could go top 3 in 2027.

I could see Manning getting a bump due to the name. He will sell tickets.

I think this is a hire for tank job for 2 years . With no QB and no cap space nobody is gonna join the fins.
I think this is right. They are in cap hell for a couple of years and stuck with Tua or the Ewers guy. And they're in a division with the Pats and Josh Allen. Tank with this guy and when things are looking up, fire him and get a real coach.

But are there a lot of great spots available? He may be impatient, but if not he'd be better off taking an OC job, hopefully making himself a top candidate again over the next 2-3 years, then take the pick of the litter at that point.

Turns out being a coach whose floor is 6-8 wins and ceiling is 1-2 wins in the playoffs is more of a liability than a complete moron coach.

Still, the Vrabel hire and subsequent success feels like it's having unexpected consequences where impatient and frustrated fans coupled with 3 moron owners result in the ****canning of two somewhat competent or even good coaches for complete unknowns.

It must be ****ing murder to be a Dolphins or Jets fan right now, seeing what we're doing.
