Thought the drama left with Tom and Bill.
Hope the team can focus and compete in the playoffs with this distraction.

This is the NFL, baby. Drama is more of a constant here than all seasons of The Real Housewives combined.

Because he is a famous sports star that does not want bad publicity?
Your answer again is looking at only one part of the phrase.

Yes, I'm a famous sports star that doesn't want bad publicity, so don't go to the police.

That seems plausible and makes sense.

But it totally ignores the second part of the phrase: it's not a big deal.

If we're talking about a pay dispute, why would someone go to the police.

Is she like the people who call 911 because McDonald's put a pickle chip on their burger? She's college educated, so I'm not sure she would fall to that level of insanity.

Either this is a heavy dose of copium, or he is unbothered by what's going on.

(inb4 the 'uppity' deleters chime in)

They're not criminal masterminds, but Cardi B has been a celebrity longer than Steph Diggs has.
They change phones regularly, and in many cases don't have them registered to their name.
You would like to think that. Did you follow the Diddy case? How about R. Kelly? What about Peter Nygard? These geniuses were wrung up in the most laughable self-incriminating ways. My lord, Nygard is a freakin' billionaire and he did some of the stupidest things. You never know.

Anyone can become that person if there's a life-changing amount of money involved.
Her being 'college educated' actually makes that more, not less likely.

Getting hung up on this before any actual facts have been presented seems like a fruitless exercise, but you do you, I guess.

While the NFL likes to say they hold themselves to a higher standard than law enforcement, if the charges get dropped and/or there's a financial settlement, I can't see them having any justification to take any action.

If they did it would probably have to be for next season assuming they aren't going to go the "guilty until proven innocent" route

Diggs knew this story was coming too - so if anyone thinks it will impact his play, just look at his performance on Sunday
This would be the best possible resolution for everyone.

The text wasn’t from Diggs.

And the text isn’t probative.
It can easily be stated by whoever sent it that you don’t need to do this means you dont need to make up lies to blackmail Diggs.
Thats a real possibility of what is going on here.

The text doesn’t acknowledge an incident it acknowledges am accusation. And we have no clue who the text came from other than it wasn’t Diggs so it wouldn’t be admissible.
What does "it's not a big deal" reference if not an incident?

Literally entirely different scenarios that, if you paid attention to those realms (I did/do), you knew that Diddy and R. Kelly DECADES before charges were made lol. Diggs is nowhere close to that realm. People need to stop making comparisons to drastically different scenarios.

All of those people are GenXers. Cardi B is not. There used to be a stigma around using pre-paid phones back in the day.

Hung up on what? You're here hung up too!! LOL

Also you missed the point I was making. I'm talking about the improbability that the texter imaginedg she's telling the police about a business dispute. Not her actually calling the police about a business dispute.

I understand your point but to me it could just be that it's no big deal and we'll figure it out (the police are a big deal). I just can't imagine saying "it's no big deal" after strangling someone. I think this is only over money which is no big deal.

He's channeling AB

??????

Uh, I was answering post about people knowing enough to use burners.

Was not comparing Diggs' behavior to these people.

Nygard was snagged by his own texts.

She may be like many people, simply living paycheck to paycheck and missing that week could be financially draining. Or not.

What does "it's not a big deal" reference if not an incident?
Firing her, telling her to leave, denying that she was owed money.

Any number of things.

Plus if you don’t know who said it how can you know what they meant or what facts they know?

I'm not hung up at all.
I stated very clearly that it's pointless even really discussing it until all the facts come out - several times.

I was just providing a counterpoint to your position. You're placing a lot of importance on an unverified text message that very likely wouldn't be admissible in court.

well... I can't get to the point where that makes sense to me, but I appreciate your answer. I do feel like all of this would be tough to prove. My entire reaction to all of this occurred because of that text. If a prosecutor feels he can somehow get the texter on the witness stand, then this is a very dangerous case for Diggs and the Patriots.

I read the report and the only thing that stuck out as potentially a problem was the text. So of course I place importance on it.

Also, I seriously doubt any new facts come out other than a financial settlement.

You highlighted the phrase "criminal masterminds", which is quite literally a remark on their behavior. I'm not sure what else to draw from your post when you highlight "these people aren't criminal masterminds", then you say "You'd never know" then reference a man in prison for a decades long sex-trafficking operation and someone who is currently facing a litany of charges for similar acts and more.

The point being is the association of a criminal element to things. That is a remark on behavior.
