He's been a great addition and leader for Maye and the rest of the young WR's. Hopefully he continues to go off in big games as the Pats will need it come January.
All the rumors that I've read about Diggs being a malcontent and bad team player have been proven to be lies.

Games like the Bills and Ravens wins were possible because of Diggs play and his leadership. To me, this really illustrates the vast difference between McDermutt and Vrabel as HCs.

He won’t win, but he is a contender. As others point out, it seems like McCaffrey has it all locked up.

I heard somewhere that in both Minnesota and Buffalo he was a great teammate at first and then became a malcontent. So who knows if that will happen with the Pats. That is what happened with Randy Moss many years back.

But Diggs is older now. So maybe he is more mature. And he is at a different point in his career. He is now on the back nine of his career. Winning and being part of a team where everyone is fighting for one another may be more important to him at this point than personal glory and the next contract.

Given the information in this thread I would take McCaffrey as Comeback Player of the Year. Diggs has been great for the Patriots, but McCaffreys numbers are too big to pass on.

CMC is hurt every year. Personally I don't see him being deserving of it. It's amazing what Diggs has been able to do coming off such a major injury then you look at a younger player like Aiyuk..

Agreed & McDermott is an odd ball. Socially Awkward. I never looked at him the same after his 9/11 comparisons used to motivate his team.. give Vrabel Josh Allen instead of Tannenhill in 2019 he wins a superbowl.

CMC's injuries don't qualify nearly as serious as an ACL tear though. They have to take into consideration what is one of the 2 most difficult injuries to return from in the NFL - achilles tear & ACL. (not counting the rare disasters like Alex Smith, Hamlin, blood clots, etc). CMC had achilles tendonitis & PCL strain - that's not like an ACL tear of a 31 year old WR on week 9 who returns fully week 1 to lead a new team as a WR1 the next year.
Oh - and Rivers shouldn't count. 4 games (likely all losses) to close out a year.

The thing about the comeback player of the year is the criteria the voters use is vague. It could be coming back from injury or a return to form of some kind. Ryan Tannehill, Geno Smith and Joe Flacco are recent examples of players who won the award without it having anything to do with injury. I agree with you guys that Diggs’ return from ACL (and not missing any games in the process) is more impressive than McCaffrey’s, but it’s going to be hard for the voters to overlook the numbers. I’m hoping Diggs wins it but I think anyone expecting it is setting themselves up for disappointment.

I believe Diggs having been at other spots and as you perfectly stated back nine of of career has helped him tremendously in his time as a Patriot. I believe he's settled in well here and is a vocal, and emotional leader.

Vrabel absolutely loves him and I believe at the time of him singing NEP and Diggs both needed each other.

He has helped the younger guy's on offense and defense tremendously.

We're obviously not inside the locker room, but Diggs claims the Vikings weren't upfront with him about going to a run heavy offense. He didn't like it and lost trust in the organization, started skipping meetings and eventually told the Vikings he wanted out. The skipping meetings part is the only thing you could point to and say he should've just sucked it up for the season and asked for a trade after.

Buffalo could've been the same thing. Their run game had been atrocious for years, but it looked like they finally got their guy in James Cook. He had almost 1,600 all purpose yards in his 2nd season. It's clear Diggs wanted out for a while because of their playoff failures. Even his brother tweeted during his last season that Stefon needed to leave. With all this going on, it made sense to trade him due to his age, salary and him clearly not wanting to be there.

Moss's situation was similar to Terry Glenn in 2001. Behind the scenes, he wasn't happy about his contract. After week 1 against the Bengals, he told Bill he wanted out. Moss was out of his mind wanting a new deal when he was 33 years old and he wasn't the same player. With that said, teams were still respecting him and you could see how much room Welker, Gronk and Hernadez were owning the short and intermediate parts of the field.

If Philip Rivers continues to play at least as well as his present level he’s going to be a runaway favorite I expect.
I doubt the number of games he can play would qualify him, nor should it.

970 yards 4 TDs and 30 away from being the next receiver after edelman in 2019 to top 1000 yards .

That's insane . That's how bad our wide receivers have been . Thank you maye, McDaniels and Diggs.

Diggs has definitely earned it. He has come back from a serious injury and he has stepped up to become a veteran leader for this young football team.

He's not just doing the talk though, he's leading by example.

Diggs has 82 catches for 970 yards and 4 TDs. I have no doubt he will reach 1,000. In any case he's a HUGE part of our turnaround on offense. We went from the 30th ranked scoring offense in 2024 to the 5th ranked scoring offense currently in 2025.

Obviously a huge part of this turnaround is better coaching, a few new pieces on offense and the emergence of Drake Maye. But Diggs is a very important part of that supporting cast and he has helped all the WRs step up their game.

Diggs has to be in the conversation, if not the frontrunner. Dak's really his only competition as near as I can tell (Dak did have a hell of a season fwiw).

It's probably going to Dak, but he'd be a runner up. I think he'd rather get to the Super Bowl and get a ring. I saw his frustration in Buffalo. I expect him to go off in at least one playoff game.

"December Diggs" btw - 21 rec on 23 targets, 291 yds and a TD on 50% snaps.

I legit did not think he had it in him to be this much of a positive influence on a locker room. Pleasantly surprised and happy to be wrong.

The concentration and footwork is something to behold. Williams, Boutee and the younger guys must have learned a thing or two from Diggs.

Over this season I dont know how many times Ive yelled out "He caught it"
