OT: Report: Lamar Jackson is wearing out his welcome in Baltimore

I think the Vegas thing is interesting. Him in a dome on turf eight games (nine if you count Los Angeles) a season would certainly be an advantage, especially given how tough the climate is in the AFC North that he's had to deal with, along with having to play in Buffalo, New England, New York, etc. if he went to Miami.

Another question is what they're planning to do from a coaching perspective, since Pete Carroll's future is in doubt. Given his age, he's certainly not there for the long term anyway, and I don't follow them closely enough to know what the situation is there after the fiasco at the OC spot, either. Should definitely be an interesting offseason.

That tweet is piggybacking the article posted at the beginning of this thread, where Mike Preston speculates that Lamar Jackson would love to play in Miami. It doesn’t appear to be anything coming from Jackson’s camp, but the FinsXtra Twitter account makes it sound like it does.

My biggest issue is the fact he makes a "business decision" with his body rather than gutting it out when his team is still in the mix for the postseason. That's not the guy you want leading your football team. He had a hamstring issue, not a knee issue and could have wrapped it and been conservative as a pocket passer while handing the ball off. It still would have been a better option than the route they were forced to go.

I think he's also still sour that the Ravens didn't cave and pay him after the Browns set that ridiculous precedent with Watson, which no other team in the league should ever do to begin with.

This is beyond a "business decision" to me seeing as he's under contract and has a helluva lot of guaranteed money.

While there's a case to be made to extend his contract for a more affordable cap hit, he's not in the drivers seat and is obligated to play when he's getting that much money.

I'd feel differently for a guy coming off a low salary looking for his payday in the offseason being physically cautious making such a "business decision"

Heck maybe he and Tua swap places - I'm just glad the Pats never got serious about luring him away back when that was a possibility.

because it WOULD have been a horrible mistake to draft him at that point. The Ravens committed themselves to creating an offense SPECIFICALLY designed to Jackson's skillset. The have never allowed him to run a standard WC or EP offense. Were you going to cut Brady and throw away that 6th superbowl to draft Jackson or waste the pick and sit him for 2 years while the GOAT was playing.

IF you want to complain about who they DID draft feel free. But that draft was all about supporting a superbowl run with Brady, NOT to draft a kid who wasn't going to play for a minimum of 2 years. Instead, they to a RB who was instrumental to a Superbowl win. So stop patting yourself on the back for your pretend 20-20 hindsight. It would have indeed been a "horrible decision "

You completely misread my post. I was fighting posters saying it would've been a horrible decision to draft him. Rather than going on an unnecessary rant, you could've asked me for clarification. Why is so hard for people to realize you don’t waste a first rounder on a player who won’t see the field for a few years when that pick could go towards helping your HOF 42 year old QB?

Taking a RB was the right call and Michel was viewed as a dual threat. I had no problem with the pick, but his his injury history worried me.

I absolutely hated the Wynn pick which I wanted to be Ridley to replace Cooks.

Taking Lamar Jackson would’ve been idiotic.

Unless someone can tell me what they could've done differently to address the RB position (which I still haven't seen), a RB taken (who actually useful in 2018) over Lamar Jackson riding the pine was the right move. I was a fan of Jeremy Hill who was the initial starting RB who unfortunately got taken out by his own teammate week 1.

Maximizing another title run over the "future" is always the best move.

Lamar is a moron

Games like today show why Mahomes has 3 rings and Lamar has zero.

There's zero excuse for Lamar to be losing this game he has the better team and it's a must win type of game to avoid 1-3, he should be way more hungry and want this game way more than anyone on the Chiefs.

Bill has a 300 page book coming out where he makes no mention of Robert Kraft. There's obviously some bad blood between them. It has a chapter admitting his his mistakes, but Malcolm Butler is not mentioned as one of them. The shocking mistake was that he says he should've drafted Lamar Jackson. I don't think it was a mistake as they wouldn't have made the Super Bowl unless they drafted Chubb in the 2nd round. The other mistake he mentioned was the obvious of letting Tom Brady walk.

Lamar Jackson is a treat to watch. It’s incredulous that our front office drafted slow back up RB Phony Michel and fat clumsy guard Isaiah Wynn over this future hall of famer. Would have been a fun past 5 years to watch this guy in a patriots uniform instead of the anemic offense that’s been put in front of us. Playoff choker? The patriots haven’t won a playoff game in 6 years. I would kill to even make the playoffs these days.

He still doesn’t do it as a passer for me. He relies on movement and blown coverages for big plays.

Lamar was a guy who had a definite shelf life. He played like a running back and aged like one. Unlike other scramblers/runners like Elway and Young, it's clear he does not have the passing skillset to play when his running skill was compromised. Guys like Lamar opened up passing lanes because defenders had to respect the running threat.

You can win with those guys if you know how to manage them. The Eagles managed Hurts brilliantly in their Super Bowl run.

The entire Raven offense has been designed around Jackson. That's not just the design of it, but the personnel as well. So you'd have to not only change the QB, you have to change the OC, and the kind of receivers you have. That would require a 2-3 year reset assuming you find a good starting QB.

Sounds like you have a 2 time MVP QB who at $36MM/yr is a positive bargain. who has a bit of an attitude problem or rather a personality issue. But is basically a good guy who is going through a very frustrating and disappointing year. They will deal with it and will probably be a favorite next year to win it all. The Ravens are my MOST hated team. I wish them nothing but the worst, so I hope they DO trade Jackson

That's the current cost for the Ravens. A team trading for him would "only" have to pay about $50M a year.

I'll say this operating without an agent is a foolish thing to do especially when NFL players are essentially independent contractors. He got the contract becuase at the time he was considered a top 5 QB and had an MVP award on his resume Plus lesser QBs got paid.
Hamstring injury are such complicated injuries and we saw the effects on Lamar this season. Nonetheless it's probably best if the Ravens and Lamar do part ways.

I don’t see this as the same article. Who knows if Preston’s sources are correct, but the Jackson article is about Jackson not putting the effort in necessary. They didn’t post the complete Ray Lewis article, but it seems it was about Lewis declining in skills but having too much control in the locker room and it is time to move on. Not the same thing.

Who knows if the Jackson article is true. When teams circle the drain and there is talk about coaches getting fired or players getting cut, there is a tendency of a lot of finger pointing through the media. So I could see someone(s) smearing Jackson. But I also can see that Jackson was always a diva who didn’t put in the effort, but no one wanted to rock the boat when he was winning MVPs.

I don’t see Jackson wanting to go to Vegas unless there is a massive regime change. Vegas is just a loser organization. They don’t seem to know what they are doing and it all comes from the owner down.

If Jackson ever accepted a trade to Vegas, I think it would show winning wasn’t a priority to him. At least unless they changed the GM and coach and they seemed to be competent.
