OT: Report: Lamar Jackson is wearing out his welcome in Baltimore

Lamar has a no-trade clause, so the Ravens can't exactly "take calls" on him unless he permits them to.

If he does allow that, his contract is pretty trade-able. Baltimore saves some cap space, and the acquiring team can easily convert his massive 2026 salary into a signing bonus + extension, making the initial couple years fairly affordable.

My biggest issue is the fact he makes a "business decision" with his body rather than gutting it out when his team is still in the mix for the postseason. That's not the guy you want leading your football team. He had a hamstring issue, not a knee issue and could have wrapped it and been conservative as a pocket passer while handing the ball off. It still would have been a better option than the route they were forced to go.

I think he's also still sour that the Ravens didn't cave and pay him after the Browns set that ridiculous precedent with Watson, which no other team in the league should ever do to begin with.

There's a few weird cases recently where guys agree to terms with their team on a new deal but still hold a grudge against them that the deal was somehow not "good enough". Dude, nobody forced you to sign that deal... you could've gone to free agency and taken a better offer if you're so sure you would've received one...

I have concerns that he might click well with McDaniel if he is still there. Prefer he goes to the Raiders where I don't think he would succeed.

Not gonna happen.

The entire Raven offense has been designed around Jackson. That's not just the design of it, but the personnel as well. So you'd have to not only change the QB, you have to change the OC, and the kind of receivers you have. That would require a 2-3 year reset assuming you find a good starting QB.

Sounds like you have a 2 time MVP QB who at $36MM/yr is a positive bargain. who has a bit of an attitude problem or rather a personality issue. But is basically a good guy who is going through a very frustrating and disappointing year. They will deal with it and will probably be a favorite next year to win it all. The Ravens are my MOST hated team. I wish them nothing but the worst, so I hope they DO trade Jackson

The bigger problem is the guy who has been there for awhile and has little to show for some very deep and talented rosters. Your HC has a huge part in how your QB is handled. If there's some questions to his ethic, Harbaugh should've been managing that.

How does the Baltimore Sun writer (and Colin Cowhered) think Miami is supposed to fit Lamar Jackson's contract into their salary cap?

Tua Tagovailoa's cap numbers:
2026: $56.4 million, $54 million guaranteed

Lamar Jackson's base salary:
2026: $51.25 million
2027: $51.25 million

Both teams would have so much dead money it wouldn't be worth it to either one.
And Miami would have so much money dedicated to QB, they couldn't field a decent team around Jackson - so what would be the point?

It would actually save BAL about $15M next year (though obviously they'd have to replace Lamar).

And without an extension MIA could reduce the 2025 cap hit to either $15Mish or $25Mish. (Not sure off the top of my head how the cap works with regard to void years and signing bonuses after the void years are added.)

People love MVP awards. But those are voted upon before the postseason. LJ has not elevated his game in the playoffs and, as such, just isn’t worth it to anyone.

Todd Monken is a very good OC. I’d argue that Lamar hamstrings him more than helps him.

My question as well.

Looks like he would waive his clause to go to Miami. But who knows.

How many posters I had to fight saying taking Lamar in 2018 would've been a horrible mistake.
because it WOULD have been a horrible mistake to draft him at that point. The Ravens committed themselves to creating an offense SPECIFICALLY designed to Jackson's skillset. The have never allowed him to run a standard WC or EP offense. Were you going to cut Brady and throw away that 6th superbowl to draft Jackson or waste the pick and sit him for 2 years while the GOAT was playing.

IF you want to complain about who they DID draft feel free. But that draft was all about supporting a superbowl run with Brady, NOT to draft a kid who wasn't going to play for a minimum of 2 years. Instead, they to a RB who was instrumental to a Superbowl win. So stop patting yourself on the back for your pretend 20-20 hindsight. It would have indeed been a "horrible decision "

Even if Lamar is getting hurt and hasn't done it in the playoffs, moving on from Lamar before changing the coach to an offensive one and seeing how it looks would be idiotic.

It would be so much easier to change the coach and see how it looks in a year, Lamar Jackson is 76-29 in the regular season a starting quarterback it's not easy to find a guy like that who wins over 70% of his starts.

Just look at what Sean Payton is doing for Bo Nix and Liam Coen for Trevor Lawrence, i would much rather can Harbaugh and see what a year of Lamar looks like with one of those type of guys.
